Blizzard has pushed out a hotfix to realms which removed the ability for Ysera, Unleashed to create Nozdormu.
With such a unique, targeted hit to the card, one must wonder if Nozdormu's days in Standard are limited. Especially considering that Blizzard just over week ago was talking about their plans of rebuilding the Classic and Basic sets. Although Nozdormu is beloved by many for the flavor aspect of the card, it has never really been a competitive staple so relegating it to the Wild format wouldn't have any big changes to the game.
What do you think about the change?
Quote From cmdylux Hey everyone,
We’re currently deploying a hotfix (18.0.3) that includes the following:
- Nozdormu can no longer be summoned from Dream Portals created by Ysera, Unleashed.
- Fixed a Battlegrounds bug where Nat Pagle, Extreme Angler could cause combat to have different outcomes from each player's perspective.
These changes will take place on the server side, so you won’t need to download anything if you’ve already updated to 18.0.

Nooo! I always LOVED to see Nozdormu popping on either side of the board. Not to say turns in constructed are too long but...
wasnt the Nozdormu bug fixed at some point? I remember a very janky and fringe combo deck way back that used him and 2 Brewmasters sending each other back to the hand to keep eating your opponents turn but eventually blizz addressed it and then no longer worked.
Maybe i'm misremembering, it's not like the Noz combo was ever widely played, tho if not i wonder what caused him to break again
From what I remember they fixed that specific issue and a number of others similar, but equivalent issues popped up consistently still. In the case of Ysera of course, the fact that it is probably popping up at the start of your turn (or in the middle of a long animation of cards draws from Overflow and potential dragon pulls)
I never understood why they can't just fix the root problem. Your turn should start after your opponents turn has ended, not during. This would prevent all abuse of the card and all other similar abuses.
You draw your card, only after that the timer starts ticking.
Animations will always have different running times to each player, depending on quality settings, PC specs, etc.
Locking the timer that way would force players to wait (sometimes a lot) if their opponent is stuck on multiple or slow animations.
Imagine having to wait a little EVERY turn for no apparent reason (since animations have already ended for you), it would just make the overall experience bad everytime in order to fix something that is bad sometimes.
tldr:
terrible programming is terrible programming.

As i often have to play on mobile, i hate that card with a passion.
it was time ... he is really annoying.
Yesterday I lost a game where my Ysera summoned him and, with a full board ready to win, I had no time to give a dragon Taunt, so I was killed before being able to react
"In time, all things are possible..." ;)
Would be nice if this smallest of indie companies just fixed the code instead of settling for workarounds like this.
I was one of the many victims of this "turn skip" bug and i'm glad it won't happen anymore. This is a good change in the short term but they should definitely do something about this card. Nozdormu has been an issue for a long time and it's not even a competitive card. It should be reworked. It NEEDS to be changed.
I understand why they do this, so that you don't randomly lose time on your turns. But it still feels like a very weird, random, arbitrary exclusion for just one specific card to be removed from the pool. Dream Portal can now summon any Dragon except this one specific one.
It's like if they removed the ability to generate Pyroblast (or any other Mage spell for that matter) from Primordial Glyph or some other random Mage spell generator. While we're at it, let's make it so that all those 1/1s can no longer be evolved into. Or make it so that Totemic Call can no longer summon Searing Totem. To just have one random card excluded from a generation pool just feels weird.
Just seems to me like Blizzard couldn't care less about fixing the ACTUAL bug, instead they circumvent the issue by removing Nozdormu from the generation pool.
Might as well just fix that Nozdormu effect or better yet, just make animations no longer cost time. Even better, just have the option to remove them altogether. I think some pros were asking for stuff like that for years.
If ever there is a card that desperately needs a redesign its Nozdormu, and I'm not entirely saying that because I still have a golden copy of him gathering cobwebs in my collection.
Couldn't care less: I don't play Standard and the formidable Nozdormu will still be available in Wild!
Yeah but not from portals which is the only time I ever saw him.
I played a lot of Ysera in wild (dragon jade druid) and it was always fun when he popped up.
Admittedly it screwed me sometimes, and perhaps was less fun for my opponent especially if it meant they couldn't do their turn properly, so I can see why the change is happening.
Would prefer it to be fixed, though their current implementation of their server + 2 x client model makes this problematic. So like many are saying perhaps a new effect would be nice.
Friendship ended with Nozdormu, now Fairy Dragon is my best friend
I never really had a problem with it, its not like Noz was ever running rampant on the meta. Example if i got it off DragonQueen, i am usually happy bc you play it and put your opponent in a bind. I wouldn't expect anything less from my opponent so, what's the big deal?
The problem isn't getting Noz, the problem is that each portal animation takes half an hour to complete.
