On Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer: if I had to guess the class based on the card type and text, Shaman would have been my fourth or fifth guess. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but if I play a Shaman, I want to feel like one; this card just doesn't do it for me.
All three are very much what shaman is becoming; can't draw for shit, can't generate for shit, and stuck with gimmicks all round. So well rounded are their core cards it makes paladin look broken.
So what have we here then? Two dubiously useless cards, and one very nice and powerful legendary that will never live up to its potential.
Cagematch Custodian looks very strong, but the only weapon you'd ever want tutored is either Doomhammer or The Fist of Ra-den, of which both aren't going to set the tent on fire anytime soon. So no tempo here.
Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer would've been THE card if it were 2 mana. But sadly it ain't. So it doesn't curve into Deathmatch Pavilion, and shaman have to actually stick a board to enjoy its benefits. Its not really that bad, but its a fair card. And fair cards don't usually make the cut. Neither will this, in my opinion.
Inara Stormcrash will never be a finisher. There's just no good weapons for shaman to ever make the windfury do more than 10 damage without also something like Rockbiter Weapon. In many cases, if its a finisher you want, doomhammer does the job better. So the best thing would be this gets down on 5, you kill 2 minions with your face, and then pray to the gods that she survives until the next turn. Kinda makes Dragonbane look godlike, doesn't it?
Its disappointing to be honest. Had there at least been a 4 mana 4/3 weapon for shaman, even without any added effects, inara would've made it to the top. But it was not to be at the end. Well, here's hoping for the mid expansion upgrades then.
Enhancement Shaman support!
Why does the legendary look like a cheesy superhero?
cheesy nothing. That face looks like she about to take a dump mid jump kick.
Im sure that art piece genuinely took time and love to make, but couldn't the expression be something more than someone watching intently at a chess grudge match?
That's the current state of standard Shaman
It's not bad at all but it feels like a pretty weird legendary to a class so out of the meta.
That's a lot of burst damage though with Rockbiter Weapon Shaman might be insane
Tempo Shaman?
Shamans have traditionally been the red-headed stepchild of weapon classes. Despite being a core mechanic, they typically only get gimmicky weapons or weapons with Overload. It's nice to see them get some actual support.
These remind of pirate shaman back in gadgetzan days.
That bundle of reveals is thematically coherent
Ooh, nice Warrior cards...
For real though. What.
* Warrior looking at Shaman new arsenal *
Windfury is shaman only mechanics (and a few neutrals I suppose), so those are shaman, but it was obvious they are pushing weapon Shaman when the revealed Deathmatch Pavilion
Weapon Shaman Inc
Weapon tutor now for shaman... interesting...
