Its like Valeera the Hollow, but without the OP value
I do like that design
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Seems like you'd run this in the new Shuffle Rogue that also has C'Thun, the Shattered just to stall until you draw him.
Take my words with a grain of salt. I'm unranked and only play casuals lmao.
Ok, so this is a very flavorful way of giving Rogues some survivability and I’m all for it. This honestly opens quite a few possibilities to help with combo or miracle archetypes return to the meta and we can hopefully see the lackey vomit meta slow down a bit.
This ain't no place for a hero
Basically will see play if there is any combo deck that wants to stall

Remember Valeera the Hollow? Remember how Valeera the Hollow would have you pay NINE freaking mana for this effect?
This gives you the Stealth part for a third of the Cost. At face value, it is just a slightly worse Time Out! for Rogues as it doesn't prevent indirect damage to the face, but Rogues don't have healing to sustain, so the effect appears to be more valuable to them. Stay hidden in the shadows where you can give yourself a chance to draw something to get you back in. I'm hopeful for this card.
This is basically Time Out! for Rogues, only slightly worse because you can still get hit by a random spell.
That said, this is a perfect stall and combo card, should Rogue ever get a combo deck. The biggest problem with the class is its survivability, so this will definitely help in that regard.
So, basically Time Out! for rogues. They already have this in the form of Evasion, but you still had to get hit before that triggered. I do think this will see play in any combo deck that needs to stall. I just don't know what that combo deck would be.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
A way to enable slow Rogue decks to build up value, this is gonna be a fun first week. Greedy decks as far as they eye can see.
Definitely a C'Thun Rogue stall tool. Seems decent, wouldn't be surprised if every a bit more control-oriented Rogue list ran at least one of these.
I initially thought it's bad cause Time Out! wasn't that great but it's rogue.. doesn't have healling, has preparaation.. doesn't ahve many survival tools.. actually runs combos.
Rogue doesn't have many survivality tools, that cards allows slow rogue decks get time for their combos.
Will see play for sure.
By The Holy Light!
Alright, a little bit of stall for rogue! Surely will help preparing your combo shenanigans. It even has the same mana as Time Out! albeit different rarity.
Well done Blizzard, you actually printed more control tools for a class that desperately needed it. Bring on that C'Thun, the Shattered rogue deck! My mind, body and soul is ready! :D
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Slightly worse Time Out!, as it doesn't let you get in an undamaged attack, but it's interesting to see stall tools for rogue. I know that Valeera the Hollow's battlecry is usually important in slower rogue decks, where you couldn't get away with playing slow setup cards without that protection, so I see no reason why this won't be similar.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Great card! Similar to Ice Block, Evasion and Time Out! Both of which see some play even today. (Ice Block in every wild mage deck, and often discovered multiple times. And Time Out! is a staple in OTK Paladin decks.)
Giving your hero stealth is really nice, and allows you to stall a turn. This helps OTK out in Wild, and i think this will see play in Standard in a C'Thun, the Shattered deck, for when the rogue player doesn't have removal ready. Or is waiting to play their C'Thun, the Shattered the next turn.
However giving your hero stealth has TWO BIG FLAWS. First of all: "Don't attack" obviously. If you cast Cloak of Shadows and then attack with your hero, you lose stealth. (I might have done that once with Valeera the Hollow... but that was when i first started playing again after a long time though.) And second of all: "Be afraid of indirect damage." With indirect damage i mean things like Arcane Missiles or Hellfire that can hit any target. So if your low health, don't feel save just because you played Cloak of Shadows.
Standard: Will see play in C'Thun, the Shattered rogue, and miracle rogue decks. Perhaps even deathrattle shuffle rogue?
Wild: This will see play in OTK rogue. That decks biggest weakness is being overrun in the early game. And Cloak of Shadows can help you stall till you get to things like Vanish and some clears. The combination of Cloak of Shadows AND Evasion together might be annoying though.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Semi ice block and rogue si for stalling until you can get your win condition
Always loved Valeera the Hollow battlecry because it wasn't only that it protected you, but stealthing your hero was really good flavor for the rogue class.
I hope to see more of this mechanic.
It's easy to see Team 5 is actually putting some thought into this collection. This is going to be a very important card moving forward.
Oh no! I'm going to die to the onslaught of minions next turn!
Cloak of Shadows : I got your back
good for combo decks
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
I agree, except Valeera the Hollow also gave you 5 armor and a new hero power. Your comparison to Time Out is much more on point.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Its a combo card for rogue. But will you drop this into anything else. No.
Well, if anything, I can go back to wasting my stars on making malyrogue work again. So I guess that's something.
Time out but you can still be killed by lepers and random effects quite a decent slow down tool if you ask me
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Basically a Time Out! for Rogue except for the fact that you can till take damage from damaging cards that specify random enemy or enemy hero. I think this has a chance if a C'Thun, the Shattered deck works in Rogue, acting like Time Out! to stall until you achieve your combo. If that deck doesn't work, then I don't see Cloak of Shadows seeing play until a viable Rogue Combo deck exists.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Will see play in wild combo rogue, not so much anywhere else.
Living like that.
Control rouge I guess, but I don't think that will be an archetype. Still glad they brought back stealth for heroes though

A worse Iceblock for Rogue, I will pass.
Nothing more than pack filler. Feels like a worse Time Out, and that only saw play to set up Shirvalah combos.
Ice Block was classic. How was this not?
finally rogues have a true stealth and not just stealth minions(yes i know of the death knight)
All hail the banshee queen.
This is a card that rogues will certainly find useful.
Saves a turn against minion damage and targeted burst. As long as there isn't guaranteed face spells happening this will help stall for that one more draw Ialways seem to need.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Now if only the Stealth Package from Ashes of Outlands could target your hero...
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Rogue gets a defensive tool? Awesome. This will be annoying to play against, but much less annoying than Ice Block or Time Out!. I like it.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Good way to survive one more turn until you set up you're combo pieces. Will see play in almost any C'thun rogue deck.

Interesting card, it allows combo decks a turn of set-up, while giving aggro decks a turn of survival in the mirror. 3 mana is quite expensive though, but it might see play in slower rogue decks because of the lack of other good surival tools in the class.
Nice little cheat death, and it has great flavour too
Nice little protection for Rogues while keeping in flavour for them - it's a pseudo-heal that doesn't feel bad to see them run, unlike their previous straight healing options from Neutral cards.
