A Hearthstone patch is arriving that brings changes to the end of the rewards track, the same ones that were announced by Ben Lee a few days ago.
- The patch is now live.
- Updates on mobile will take longer.
- If you have already completed the milestones, don't worry, you will be credited.
We'll be digging into the patch and let you know if there is anything special going on.
Nothing special, the whole patch is detailed in the notes below.
Quote From Kerfluffle Hey everyone,
We’re currently deploying a client hotfix that includes the following:
- Updated items on the Rewards Track.
- Level 33 – Old: Year of the Dragon Card Pack → New: 150 Gold
- Level 37 – Old: Scholomance Academy Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 40 – Old: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 42 – Old: Ashes of Outland Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 46 – Old: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Card Pack → New: 300 Gold
- Level 48 – Old: Year of the Dragon Card Pack → New: 300 Gold
Until this hotfix is fully deployed, some players may get the new rewards but still see the old ones. If you reached these milestones before we implemented these changes, you’ll be retroactively compensated up to the level you reached in a future update.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say "Meh."
Yeh meh no gold for 3 wins I had hope they will make it 20 but still this is useless nothing
I hope that doesnt return the gold for 3 wins.
Sorry but that was a terrible system/way to earn gold thats way worse then what got now. Now f you loose you still get exp towards next pack /gold or other reward(like a legendary). In past the 10 gold for 3inws was 30 wins a day.
If want more gold im far that, but ten simply add it to quest ontop fo ep or increase gold gains from the track not maje the 10 gold for 3wins like it was.
No you don’t. This may be an unpopular opinion, but the rewards are quite OK, main issue is with Blizzzards misscommunicating and obfuscating information. After week 1 I’m at level 25, with the same progress I should achieve level 50 after a 4 additional weeks and reaching roughly level 150 at the end cycle. Now I play a lot but I’m not a grinder.
You are aware that the XP needed to level up scales pretty significantly? You wont reach Level 50 in four weeks. Also the rewards and the amount of time are atrocious, just compare it to other games.
You're forgetting that we've gotten two sets of weekly quests and two extra daily quests in first week, so at current pace you'll need a lot more time than four weeks to get to lvl 50.
I thought that I've played a lot this first week and even with battle pass bonus included, I've just reached lvl 23. I certainly won't be continuing at this pace. By being 7k+ xp ahead of me, you really do play a LOT, which means that you're representing a tiny minority of Hearthstone community. Most of players play less than hour a day on average and progression system is tailored towards them.
I do expect that I'll reach lvl 50 by the end of the season, but not many levels past it.
i got the pass and almost at lvl 25 and ive not even really played that much and couldve been further if i ahd reroled a few quests
Because of the weekly quest bug, I missed out on thousands of xp this week that I can't get back. Will Blizzard compensate me or even apologize? Nah. I did two dailies today and made a little more than halfway the progress to get from level 21 to 22. What do I get once I level up? 100 gold. So rather than getting 110 for my two dailies like before, I'm getting the equivalent of about 60 now. Yeah, this system sucks.
Okay, so there's some progress. That's good. I don't think its useful to reiterate the problems of the reward track, so I'm not going to do that. I'm not fully happy, but I'm more than willing to wait until the end of the darkmoon expansion before I make any decisions.
So let's also bring up a few other things that I wish blizz will address;
- Please for the love of god make it explicit how much xp is being gained per game. If the idea is to obscure this from the playerbase in hopes they won't nickel and dime each session, its clear that some will, and when its demonstrated in forums, it will not reflect well on blizz's part. Just give us an interface that shows how much xp is being gained, if only for the increased transparency.
- There should be a button to confirm all those achievements achieved. I don't get why the achievement points and xp don't just get automatically collected, instead of relying on us to click every single one of them to get the 'rewards'.
- While we're on the subject of achievements. Please have a button to turn off the alerts. I don't know why, but having my game or pack openings spoiled for me is getting on my nerves.
- Why tavern brawls don't contribute to quest completions is beyond me. If I were a new player, have few or any cards in my collection, tavern brawls would be the number 1 place I go to complete my quests. This was the case in the old system, and I can't fathom why its not in the new one.
More than ever we need better communication between the hearthstone team and its community. If we're going to make this work, it will take a lot more than a few band-aids solutions; it will take trust and transparency. Would be nice if blizz live up to their own legacy instead of gaffe after gaffe after gaffe. If nothing else, it would make me feel a lot better giving you my hard earned cash if I don't feel like a chump doing so.
Wholeheartedly agree with your entire post, but this really caught me off guard as a person coming back after a break from HS. Played 3 games of TB to knock out a couple quests and was shocked to see no progress at the end! Definitely made for a salty start to the season, but they brought Yogg back so it was hard to stay mad ;D
One thing I thought of yesterday: Pack rewards are essentially equal to 100 gold. Some of the pack rewards are along parts of the Rewards track that offer more than 100 gold/level. So offering packs any point past level 25 is essentially a downgrade to your reward.
With the new patch this only comes into play twice now. Level 27 offers you an Ashes of Outland pack instead of 150 gold like level 26. Level 30 offers you a Madness at the Darkmoon Faire pack instead of 150 gold as well. But again, if you convert these two packs to gold they randomly downgrade your reward back to 100 gold at levels 27 and 30 for some reason. So while it's only another 100 gold total to replace them with 150 gold sacks... why didn't they?
Again, small issue as the new patch resolves this already. But for me it's the small details that Blizzard missed here that are the issue. I personally like the new rewards track, and I am optimistic they will hold true to their word and make sure it is more rewarding. This quick patch to change a few things already shows that they are willing to keep their word. I mean, they aren't going to purposefully piss off the entire player base and just do nothing about it to make them happy. They make too much money off of this game at Activision-Blizzard to intentionally kill it by implementing a new reward system that is horrible for all players.
You can't even say that a pack is equivalent to 100 gold. Maybe Darkmoon Faire packs can be considered to be worth 100 gold, but even Scholomance or Ashes of Outlands packs are worth much less than 100 gold. A normal player would much rather have the packs from the current expansion.
However, I do share your sentiment that we shouldn't lose faith in this battle pass yet. Sure, this is probably a marketing scheme, but at the very least I believe that Blizzard is far from the level of Bethesda with Fallout 76.
I think we should get 3 quests per day.
If get more slots to save quests sure. Else no and just increase exp from quests curretly
If they think this is going to be enough to keep the player base happy then they are delusional.
If you think they care about keeping the entire player base happy, you might want to be careful about tossing around words like "delusional."
Blizzard cares about keeping paying players happy. They've never shown a ton of concern about free players unless they do something that creates enough bad press to spill over and affect the opinions of non-free players.
By and large, the more you spend on Hearthstone, the less you probably care about the rewards track. That's why they are doing their best to change things just enough to look like they care without actually doling out a bunch more gold. If they wanted to appease free players, they would have made the game a lot more free-friendly a long time ago.
That said, even the whales can agree that the game has always cost way too much. However, this reward-track hill is the wrong place to fight that battle. If you want the game to cost less, it's time to start a completely different conversation about monetization, blind packs, etc. As long as people keep letting Blizzard pull the discussion back to this specific PR booby trap, they will never get the message they actually need to hear about the state of their game.
Not sure why I'm getting downvoted here. Right at this very moment, the top 20 threads in /r/hearthstone sorted by "Hot" are about the rewards, monetisation, and Hearthstone's economy. All 20. You wouldn't even know there was a new expansion that just launched. The community is angrier than I have ever seen it before and I have been playing since the beginning. Downvote away, though, I guess.
Reddit is terrible for that though. They will always whine crazy, if wouldnt be reward track would be something else thats end fo the world.
Well, good news -- they are also doing events (which were planned all along), which give a lot of additional rewards that the rabble-rousers didn't and couldn't include in their calculations.
You mean like before? And that don't enter the calculations of daily gold?
