In a leak from Windows Central, we've got news on the mini set that is coming to Hearthstone very soon! Keep in mind that this is leaked content and could be subject to change.
- The Darkmoon Faire Mini Set arrives on January 21.
- Dual-class cards and Spellburst are both returning mechanics.
- A bundle will be available for $15 (or 2000 Gold) that contains all 35 new cards which includes 4 new Legendaries.
- Two new heroes and minions are being added to Battlegrounds on January 21.
- A new hero power and three treasures are being added for each class to Duels on January 21.
- Anduin's Book of Heroes chapter releases on February 2.
The release of Anduin next contradicts our datamined release order of the Book of Heroes adventure, so we're not entirely certain if that means Malfurion switched spots with our young friend or if the rest of the release order is completely unknown.
Because the article will likely be taken down due to an embargo clearly being broken, here's the full article. Thanks to Saejis for bringing this to our attention.
Quote From Windows Central Blizzard is expanding on the collection of cards in its digital CCG Hearthstone by releasing a new Darkmoon Races mini-set on January 21. All 35 cards will be available within packs of the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion, which released in November.
Darkmoon Races will mark the return of mechanics first introduced in Ashes of Outland and Scholomance Academy such as dual-class cards and Spellburst, which triggers a powerful effect the next time the player casts a card. Players who want to get all of them can pick up a bundle through May 11 for $15 or 2,000 Gold which includes one of each of the set's four legendaries and two of all the other cards.
January 21 will also bring updates to the Battlegrounds system, introducing two new heroes and minions. Darkmoon Races will be added to Duels games the same day and players will have access to a new hero power and three new treasures.
On February 2, Hearthstone will launch a new single-player campaign focused on Prince Anduin of Stormwind. The fifth chapter in the game's Book of Heroes series is free to play and will show how Anduin learned to wield both holy magic and a sword as he traveled throughout Azeroth. Players who complete the campaign will receive a pack of cards for the Priest class.

I strongly believe they will be counted as owned. If not, then it will be a bug :-)
Hope this is all true - and I can finally open the DMF packs I've been hoarding. I will be saying goodbye to 2000g if some of the legendaries and epics are playable.
Also, with the reward track update we should get the 2000 gold as bonus compared to previous rewards
Seems like crazy good value, whether in gold or $$. I reluctantly held back packs from the expansion day 1, and accrued a few more of them from the month-end rewards since November.
I was thinking I wouldn't get much of the mini-expansion with my 30 or so packs unless I chipped in for some bundle that they would no doubt announce at the release. But getting everything for $15 or the value of 20 packs in gold feels terrific. It will be interesting to see what they have printed.
Its a nice change, a fixed price for 35 cards or 2000 gold. Either way, you don't have to gamble your packs if you dont want to. And if the legendaries/epics suck (a good chance they wouldn't since they're essentially selling these things), then feel free to skip and get all the commons and rares via packs (or not, up to you)
I'm actually okay with this kind of idea. No doubt 15 bucks is no small amount, but this time round the options are clearer so you don't have to spend all that cash just because you needed a specific rare card from the mini set.
Would love it if they reveal the cards early so I can decide whether to get a few more packs now before they get diluted.
wdym? skipping epic/legends? even if someone just want to get those all rares and commons, they practically have to spend ~2K gold (20 packs) to get 30 commons(15x2) and 24 rares (12x2). Isn't it better to just buy the bundle? That's how my mind works anyhow.
It really depends if you really want them at all. Galakrond's awakening, if we take that as a measure, only had few playable cards today, and nearly all of them are rares. If you're short on cash, probably better to just get the better cards and ignore the rest. As for me, there's a few epics in the current set I really want, so if the mini set isn't worth it I'd rather have a better chance at getting what I want.
Not to mention that the end of month rewards will add some of the rares into your collection for free anyway.
Um, card reveal starting when?
Monday prolly?
They dont do reveals like ever during weekend.
Wouldn't it be lovely if they started pricing all expansions this way? A simple bundle containing all the cards for a fixed price?
I would definitely be first in line if they kicked off the new Hearthstone year like that. If they had more people paying a reasonable price to get all the cards in each major expansion, it would probably make up for the whales who normally shell out the big bucks for hundreds of random packs, and the game would be a LOT more accessible.
It would make the game more accessible, but I'm honestly not so sure I'd enjoy it more. The fun of collecting things is real - you pick up a new legendary halfway through the cycle and that makes the card more exciting. You build a deck around it and enjoy it for a bit. Getting all the cards at once would spoil that feeling.
Plus, given recently-added incentives like the Darkmoon Coin for collecting all cards in the set, I don't think they'll change that model soon.
Sure, it'd be great, but would it be affordable? What would they charge? $100? $50? $20? We all know $80 currently doesn't get a whole set, but that's due to the randomness of card packs. If you were able to buy entire sets at once, would extra cards be strictly disenchanting fodder used for crafting Gold versions? (That sounds awesome.)
Point is, unless some core systems get overhauled, the most I could see them offering is a portion of a set as a one-time purchase. Maybe 50% of it. Alternatively, they could split a set and release fewer cards at first, then the rest of it in a mini-set like this one (with a guaranteed purchase.)
I think it's very important what they're gonna announce soon™ regarding the changes coming in April.
Would be cool but i doubt they will do it though, atleast this next year they wont do it yet i think. if each does have a miniset then those likly will and then after those all have been they if earns more might do it for regular expansions.
But i dont see it happening till in 2years really.
But if they do that id love to see them sell alot more cosmetics (portaits, carbacks, alternate card /hero power token arts like in book of heroes)
Finally, some news on the mini expansion. Hopefully this news is genuine.... And I'm loving that they're selling bundles for in game gold too... Excellent news for F2P players like me.
no way they give all mini set cards out for $15. that's so anti anything blizzard has ever done. hope this is true.
Its similar pricing/value compared to Galakrond's Awakening!
Cheaper even, wasn't Galakrond's Awakening/Old Adventures priced at 2800 for the whole set, with 700 a wing?
I like both price in cash and gold as well. 2000 for 4 legos and 2x copies of all other 31 cards feels pretty good. Also finally Anduin, can't wait to get my favorite character prequel story
The entire mini-set being available for 2000 gold would be huge. I hope it's true.
Time to save 2000 gold. I'm only about 450 gold in, and three levels away.
