In a leak from Windows Central, we've got news on the mini set that is coming to Hearthstone very soon! Keep in mind that this is leaked content and could be subject to change.
- The Darkmoon Faire Mini Set arrives on January 21.
- Dual-class cards and Spellburst are both returning mechanics.
- A bundle will be available for $15 (or 2000 Gold) that contains all 35 new cards which includes 4 new Legendaries.
- Two new heroes and minions are being added to Battlegrounds on January 21.
- A new hero power and three treasures are being added for each class to Duels on January 21.
- Anduin's Book of Heroes chapter releases on February 2.
The release of Anduin next contradicts our datamined release order of the Book of Heroes adventure, so we're not entirely certain if that means Malfurion switched spots with our young friend or if the rest of the release order is completely unknown.
Because the article will likely be taken down due to an embargo clearly being broken, here's the full article. Thanks to Saejis for bringing this to our attention.
Quote From Windows Central Blizzard is expanding on the collection of cards in its digital CCG Hearthstone by releasing a new Darkmoon Races mini-set on January 21. All 35 cards will be available within packs of the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion, which released in November.
Darkmoon Races will mark the return of mechanics first introduced in Ashes of Outland and Scholomance Academy such as dual-class cards and Spellburst, which triggers a powerful effect the next time the player casts a card. Players who want to get all of them can pick up a bundle through May 11 for $15 or 2,000 Gold which includes one of each of the set's four legendaries and two of all the other cards.
January 21 will also bring updates to the Battlegrounds system, introducing two new heroes and minions. Darkmoon Races will be added to Duels games the same day and players will have access to a new hero power and three new treasures.
On February 2, Hearthstone will launch a new single-player campaign focused on Prince Anduin of Stormwind. The fifth chapter in the game's Book of Heroes series is free to play and will show how Anduin learned to wield both holy magic and a sword as he traveled throughout Azeroth. Players who complete the campaign will receive a pack of cards for the Priest class.

If someone saves Madness at the Darkmoon Fair card packs and then opens them after the mini expansion releases how do you know that there will not be any cards from the non-mini-expansion?
Weird there´s still no official word on this :/
Well it’s still pretty early in Blizzardland today. I’d expect news in a few hours though.
Thinking that May 11 date should be March? This doesn’t feel legit. Guess we know for sure this wee
This is surprisingly accessible in comparison to Hearthstone's usual monetization, but let's not forget that it will be a 15$/2000g increase to the price of each rotation.
I'd like to see less cards in the initial expansion or at least less legendaries in both. I can see why they'd like to introduce legendaries; they're unique one-offs that are more fun to design and more fun to collect. But an easy solution would be a new class of card - a one-copy restricted 'promotional' that you can craft for the price of an epic. Anyway, epics are often more fun and deck-defining than legendaries are, so I wouldn't mind more of them either.
yanno, $15 for all 35 cards isn't that bad a deal. I guess that means the dark moon fair packs I been saving can be openened for the other cards I need in my collection.
granted it still ups the overall cost of the game by about $45 a year if there's goign to be 3 mini expansions a season
I can believe the release method but not the date. Usually there is a build up before release
Exact same day as the first wing of Galakrond's Awakening.
They've got to start revealing cards soon then, right?
Looks like they didn't even play the game lol
You are not aware of strong spellburst cards? Are you playing the game?
Pen Flinger, Intrepid Initiate, Gibberling, Diligent Notetaker, Speaker Gidra, [Hearthstone Card (Firesbrand) Not Found]... nearly every spellburst card is heavily played
Theremon means that they used the word "card" instead of "spell." It could just be a typo, but it might imply that the writers don't understand how Spellburst works.
It's very likely that the author of the Windows Central article doesn't play HS, and is simply re-posting the ad-copy that Blizzard sent out to the media. It's also very likely that the person who wrote Blizzard's ad-copy doesn't play the game - just some random copywriter in marketing who was given a bunch of bullet points from the HS team. Somewhere along the way, a minor error squeezed its way into the WC post, and some random shit-poster on a HS fan-site drew attention to it . . . the Circle of Life.
Ok, I missed that. They maybe thought of Cardburst.
If the bundle turns out to be real i will for sure buy, thats just insane value and i cant let that pass!
If it's REALLY purchasable for only 2k gold, then YES PLEASE!!!
2k Gold for 35 cards, including Epics AND 4 Legendaries is WAY better than just 20 packs. Also 15 Dollar/Euro is cheaper than a adventure, so that's nice for the people that just want the cards. This looks like a good deal, mostly just to get the legendaries. I think Iksar? said that the new cards will also mix up the WILD meta a lot, so i'm really excited about the new cards we'll see. Glad to see Dual Class cards and Spellburst cards return, Dual class cards are fun and flavorfull, and Spellburst has a lot of potential, but still isn't that great. The best spellburst cards so far are just aggro cards.
It's also interesting that the Anduin BoH is next, if im right that isn't the predicted/datamined order? Well i don't mind, because the Anduin BoH portrait looks INCREDIBLE. I don't know much about WoW lore, but from what i heard, Anduin seems like an interesting character.
But the most interesting thing to me, is the fact that the 35 cards including 4 legendaries is worth 15 dollar/euro. And a adventure + 35 cards is 20 dollar/euro, so i guess an adventure without cards or rewards is worth only about 5 dollars/euro's? Interesting that 35 cards are worth 3 times MORE money, compared to a whole adventure of single player content..
Will there be new achievments added?
Probably. One relating to the new Legendaries, as well as the BG heroes, makes perfect sense
wasn't the miniset going to be legendary free?, i mean, i saved packs thinking that at best i would have epics. I opened 117 packs and got just 3 legendaries in the launch day, tthere is no way im getting the 4 here in 23 packs
The only thing they said about the rarity distripution was that there will be atleast 135 non-legendary cards in the set after the mini expansion.
