The casual mode that you would once previously select when choosing between Standard and Wild is no more! Don't worry though, because nothing has actually changed which some other sites may lead you to believe - you aren't fighting classic decks with wild cards - it's just a simplification of the UI!
If you want to play an unranked game (casual), you will now change your mode as you previously would for Standard and Wild and select Casual instead. Here's how it works:
- Click the play button.
- Click on the mode selector.
- Select Casual.
- Choose a deck to play from your whole collection.
After completing these steps and hitting the play button, you will be queued into a casual format for the format your deck was built for. Choose a wild deck to play with? You'll encounter other wild players!
Nothing has changed, it's just a simplification of the interface!

It's because that is using the code of the Wild version of those cards, and not the classic
you have to swap your game mode to classic prior to making the deck or it won't work, not the easiest UI change tbh
Doomguard is Hall of Fame.
Yes, but wasn't Hall of Fame gonna be struck out with the advent of Classic Mode? Or that is gonna happen only after the 30th of March?
I thought it was leaving as well. But I think it may stay for a few cards. That were rotated out that are not part of Classic or Core... but that is my guess.
just got a true realization of why the freeze effects and ice block are gone. played vs a freeze mage for 12 turns. i could only actually play it for half of that. one game and i already do not want to try out classic mode anymore
The fun side of Classic is playing Vanilla HS.
The down side is that the meta was solidified back in 2014! Doesn’t mean you can’t still deck build and try off meta stuff. But it does mean a lot of players will just play the most OP list from 2014 they can find/remember.
So there is no way to queue into Casual Wild with a Standard deck. Not many people will care about it, of course.
You can still do that, but you first have to convert your Standard deck to Wild.
if you wanted to do that, you could simply make a standard deck and then convert it to wild. or make a wild deck that only includes standard cards.
You're right. I don't play Wild at all, not used to it lol
So why not merge what is currently Standard and Wild into "Ranked" as well? Same rules for queueing as Casual, one less button.
One can play Wild with a Standard deck. That's why the player needs to choose format.
All right, never mind. They could do that, yeah.
The same can be said about casual.
I hated the old mode. I screwed up a few Wild decks accidentally converting them to standard. Hope that's not the case post patch.
I just wish that my ranked rewards chest showed the one for Legend rather than Silver 5 (I'm legend in Wild).
Same here. Wild in Legend and it states that my reward is of the Diamond 5 level.
Saw this post and I went to check. I am legend in Wild and D4 (was D1 but started playing fun decks). It shows D4 chest in Standard and D1 chest in Wild right next to my Wild Legend Ranking... Obviously a bug.
I hope we get the Wild level rewards come the 1st.
Anyway, Thanks og0 for pointing this out.
BUT, if I change to Wild format. Got to main menu, then back into Play - it is correct. Until I switch to Standard (D4) then back to Wild (D1 - again)...
Pretty sure the bug is a display bug in the Play menu.
Thanks for the heads up on that one mate.
I've not tested it yet but display bug sounds totally likely.
