Twitter is full of new Standard decks in the wake of the launch of Forged in the Barrens and trying to find any Classic lists proved to be harder than dodging Pen Flingers on the ladder. Luckily HSReplay has already gathered some data from the new game mode, and today we'll be looking at some well-performing aggressive decks.
Face Hunter
Truly a classic aggro deck. If the arrows aren't pointing at your opponent's hero, you're probably playing it wrong.
Zoolock
I know that I had one Zoolock list in the pro Classic decks post, but if we're going to talk about best aggressive decks, it has to be included again.
Aggro Paladin
As you may have noticed, certain set of Neutrals will be featured in almost every deck. Divine Favor is an amazing draw engine although this list includes some expensive cards that can make it clunky time to time.
Aggro Warrior
The Pirate Warrior before Pirate Warrior really became a thing. Some familiar features can already be seen in this early iteration.
Aggro Rogue
It's not all Miracle for Rogues either. Unlike most aggro decks, this list includes symmetrical draw (Coldlight Oracle) and good old King Mukla for early game tempo.
Aggro isn't your thing? Check out what our community members have created here.
Blizzard's Classic deck recipes also seem quite solid starting points for most of the common strategies you'd expect to see in the format so do not hesitate to try them out too!

Shocker.. Leeroy Jenkins was able to make the cut in EVERY SINGLE DECK. Who would have thought?
I've been enjoying Classic mode, but I worry about its sustainability as a mode.
A slump in interest at some point is definitely expected, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got "Classic Naxxramas" update at some point, and kept continuing from there.
It seems a little unlikely that they will just re-introduce the old expansions, one-by-one. Then Classic mode simply becomes "Wild, but a few years ago," and there wouldn't be anywhere in-game to actually play "real" Classic HS. In addition, "Wild, but a few years ago" likely wouldn't appeal to as many players as Wild mode itself, so adding new content to the mode wouldn't necessarily un-slump any sagging interest in the player-base.
FWIW - I'd be perfectly happy if it stays as-is, for the next ten years. The game seems capable of sustaining a mode that lots of folks play "just for a break" from other modes. If a small portion of the player-base mains the mode, and everyone else plays it once in a blue moon, it would likely still be more popular than Duels. Presumably, the goal isn't to make every addition to the game as popular as Battlegrounds, admitting failure each time that doesn't happen . . .
Was thinking about that just today. Maybe Classic remains as a mode that's always available and they have a second "Classic" mode that rotates through different Standard metas of the past. Naxx, GvG, etc
Not a bad idea although at some point that becomes clunky. That said, my personal favourite meta by far was Ungoro, so I'd love to have that available
So the reason I was thinking this would be their best option, obviously the Classic format will get stale, so they'll need to change it up. But because so many people invested time and money into their Classic collection they will likely want to keep that as an option that always exists.
So the next thing they could do is something like Classic WoW where you get to choose to progress expansions or stay back. Or rather for Hearthstone you just pick which expansion's meta you want to play in and have different queues for each option. But doing this could thin out the player pool a little too much. If they do this they may need to put indicators on the selection screen to say how populated the queues are, similar to how they do with WoW Servers when picking on. But this could be super clunky, so it'll likely be more what Hearthstone Year you want to play in to try and limit thinning out the player base too much.
The last option was what I was thinking of. To prevent all that clunk, and to not thing the player base too much, rotate each month or so between past metas. It could go by year, or standard metas from a certain expansion release, etc. The constant change can keep the Retro Hearthstone mode feel fresher as you won't face the same 9-12 decks all the time like you are going to see in Classic mode. And it gives players a chance to relive some of the old days and play some power house decks from the past in their original forms.
I would like to see them eventually put in a feature for friendly games where you can just choose what card sets are available. To try and have this experience in a friendly environment or if someone wants to set up a friendly tournament. And for something like the Expansion Showdown that Solem and Dekkster are doing they could limit the random card generation to only legal sets in their games.
I am also a big fan of having a "Limited" constructed mode that rotates sets along similar to how Arena has been doing, maybe also changing up what Standard and Wild sets are available each month or so, but that might just be a me thing!
