While Blizzard may have been late to tweet about it yesterday, deciding at 4 PM Eastern to announce to the world that yesterday, April 15, was the first Nozdormu Day, this still remains an important date to remember!
When the Core set got integrated into Hearthstone, it came along with a reimagined version of Nozdormu that brought us a real version of speedstone, or blitz as some like to call it. By including a Nozdormu the Eternal into your deck and your opponent doing the same, every single turn that game is only going to be 15 seconds long. This is a very hard goal to pull off though because no one in their right mind is going to run this card when they want to climb on up - that's what Nozdormu Day changes.
So, every 15th of the month, consider having some fun in Hearthstone and swapping out a card in your favourite deck with Nozdormu so you can partake in the fun.
We'll be sure to remind you about it in advance instead of letting you know last minute so we can grow our chances of some super fast matches.
I'm glad Blizzard decided to make this official. When we originally saw Nozdormu added to the game, I had been thinking it would be great if the community gave the card a certain day each month to give us a higher chance of having fun with it. The 15th makes plenty of sense to keep it consistent, though I do think a good addition to this new celebration would be that when it lands on a weekend, both Saturday and Sunday of that weekend should be Nozdormu Weekend.
Quote From No Author Specified PSA: It is Nozdormu Day!
Starting TODAY, the 15th of every month will be henceforth known as Nozdormu Day! If you love Nozdormu, put him in your deck for some high-speed games!
Why is the 15th of Each Month Nozdormu Day?
The 15th of each month is Nozdormu Day because it is a reference to the 15 seconds that each player has to take their turn when Nozdormu is present in both decks.
How Do I Participate in Nozdormu Day?
All you need to do is put Nozdormu the Eternal in your deck. The normal 30 card limit applies so you're going to have to remove something for him, but that's part of the fun!

If people actually follow this, it will be incredible, so I will be doing my part and include Nozdormu in my decks on every 15th of the month. I just hope I won't be alone, so please do the same ;)
It's so sad that they have to push people into playing Nozdormu...
They should double the XP gain for all decks that include Nozdormu that day. Probably just 50% extra XP would convince many people already. I would play him regardless, but I also know I'm not the average Joe.
Nozdormo may be the least used card of the new set, so that's why they come up with this and that inn-vitational with nozdormo in every deck to promote the card. It's fun to have a "Nozdormo day", could have more nice days like this one... BUT, it needs to give some incentive to criple your own deck, besides the "for the meme" reason.
The Nozdormu is every deck during the inn-vitational isn't entirely accurate. One of the three rounds will require it.
The Inn-vitational is all about fun anyway and isn't crazy serious. If it was supposed to be super competitive, they'd invite better players (nothing against anyone on the list of invites) and they wouldn't have any deckbuilding rules; The "must have 10 barrens cards" rule is also just silly. Blizzard uses it as a marketing mechanism for the game, much like the "theorycrafting" streams, which are anything but.
Being guaranteed fast games where your opponent can't rope you, plus no ridiculous infinite combos is enough incentive for me.
And to be fair, a 7 mana 8/8 is already not THAT bad. Swapping one card for it doesn't "cripple" your deck.
Would have been nice if they would have announced before 23:00 on the day. Oh well, hopefully they'll do it earlier next month.
We'll be mentioning it a few days leading up to it and early on the day of now that we know Blizzard wants to make it official. Hopefully that'll help boost the people that know about it!
Honestly, I think this should be treated like a small event ingame. On the 15th of every month, give everyone a legendary quest that asks you to play a game with with Nozdormu in your deck. Variations upon this idea are forcing Nozdormu players into games with one another on that day, and having the quest require your opponent to have Noz in their deck as well.
The whole point of the new Nozdormu is that it's voluntary. It's pushing things too far if you're trying to make people feel like they have to do it, or missing out if they don't.
You could argue the same things above tavern brawls, and no one is complaining about that. Also, considering you can reroll legendary quests, worst case scenario you get an extra quest on that day.
Yesterday was the day I took him out of my deck. Since launch found one person running him. Though I play him in ranked. I never have taken my climb seriously. So it was fun to surprise people when I played him.
Maybe ill try in wild. Haven't experimented enough there.
Otherwise I look forward to the 15th.
Wild is worse, honestly! Because of how fast the meta is in Wild. Been experimenting some with different decks in the format, like Dragon Paladin, but not finding success. None of the top Wilddecks can afford a spot for him.
APM or Secret Mages just want to win fast. Darkglare Warlocks want free 8/8’s so a 7 mana 8/8 is a no. Caverns Quest Rogue would make him a 7 mana 5/5, ouch! He could go in Odd Paladin because it’s easy enough to play fast, but lately every Odd Pally I find has brain damage or something because they rope out every turn with that low skill cap deck. I’ve played that deck a lot, it’s not a think and rope kind of deck!
But in short, if I ever saw it activate in a Wild ranked match I think my head would explode from the shock and disbelief!
I've played a little post expac and it's been alright. Did a demon hunter deathrattle deck with mostly small minions. Really funny to have the board keep refilling itself. Just gotta figure out what to cut to get Norzdormu in there.
Also I get your point but Norzdormu isn't a card you play to win. It just wasn't designed that way. So yes putting him in my deck is actively loosing, especially in ranked. It's just not the point. Seeing it active, having to play faster, especially in a ranked setting is just hilarious to me. I'm certain I am not the only one.
I appreciate the pointers on the meta break down though. I will however continue to loose and be quite entertained with it.
Reading some of the comments here, God, some people hate fun.
God, some people are intolerant of the fact that different people have different ideas of fun.
98% of the Hearthstone playerbase doesn't give a shit. If they want to promote the card give us a quest or something, not make a post on twitter that a lot of people don't even use or they just don't follow Hearthstone
Hearthstone's Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages, where this was posted, is their big way to do community outreach. You get people jumping into the game and talking about it with their friends when you see something on a social site. Then you've got places like Reddit and Out of Cards that are going to shine the spotlight on the news, furthering the reach even more. You're going to get a very good chunk of people through that simple act of posting on social media to know about the "event" which makes needing to do something in-game not necessary.
Also, the whole point of this, and the card, is that its silly. We shouldn't take stuff so seriously; What happened to just having fun in games for the sake of having fun? Doing a quest would be, in my opinion, a dumb move because players are now going to feel forced to do it.
Its kinda like Tavern Brawl. I generally don't play repeat brawls because I really don't care enough about that card pack, but one common complaint I've seen over the years from people is along the lines of "ugh, I have to slug through this shitty brawl again so I can get the pack". Putting rewards in front of people can make it a forced interaction which isn't always going to be a good thing.
Plus, another bonus of not having a quest for this is that they can gauge organic interaction with the card. They can get a way better idea of how many people actually want to play speedstone after a few times. Build that dataset and if it looks good, they can potentially turn it into an actual mode inside of Hearthstone - which players have been asking for since what feels like the beginning of time.
ah you mean card pack not card back. I was confused there for a second :)
Whoops. Edited that. I've got card backs on my mind a lot recently lol.
