Hearthstone's Quilboar tribe that was added to Battlegrounds is now also available in the regular, constructed game!
Although this looks exciting, Blizzard has stated that they do not have plans to currently build around the tribe around Quilboars in other game modes and this is only being done for consistency. The majority of these cards come from Forged in the Barrens, though we do have some older Quilboar friends that are also getting updated.
Interestingly, this should mean that N'Zoth, God of the Deep can resurrect an extra minion. Neato!
Read below to see which cards are getting updated. Patch 20.2 drops on May 4.
Quote From Blizzard While we don’t currently have plans to build synergies around Quilboar in other game modes, we are adding the Quilboar tag to several should-be Quilboar minions to maintain consistency across game modes. The full list is as follows:
From Forged in the Barrens:
- Death Speaker Blackthorn
- Razorfen Beastmaster
- Razormane Battleguard
- Plaguemaw the Rotting
- Blood Shard Bristleback
- Death's Head Cultist
- Razormane Raider
From Past Expansions:
- Hench-Clan Sneak
- Hench-Clan Thug
- Hench-Clan Shadequill
- Tanaris Hogchopper
- Spiked Hogrider
- Leatherclad Hogleader
From Past Adventures:
- Infected Quillfinger (previously a Beast)
- Quilboar Hunter
- Rallying Quilboar

Death's Head Cultist seems really good alongside N'Zoth, God of the Deep. I really like this buff for N'Zoth, God of the Deep! Razormane Raider also seems like an intriguing choise, but it's still not that good of a card. I really like that they finally decided to still make this change! Even if Quilboars won't get any support outside of battlegrounds, it's still good to have new tribes for N'Zoth, God of the Deep decks!
I’m sorry, what card are you talking about? [Hearthstone Card (N’Zoth the Corrupter) Not Found]?
Quillboar meta this year!
Maybe Undead will be a thing one day.
Wonder if they count for the Warrior Rush Dragon (forgot the name). That gets cheaper for each tribe. It should be the case, but ...
Tent Trasher?
Does this mean Nightmare Amalgam and Circus Amalgam will be quilboars too? They should update the art for those cards. I'm guessing they won't.
Woohoo at last! It's always been a desire of mine in fantasy to play as...spiky...pigs? W-wait what? Why is this a thing? Unless they intend to give the tribe some actual synergy, this is about as impactful as slapping the Undead tag on Flesheating Ghoul or Troll tag on Gurubashi Berzerker.
They did say it was purely for consistency of cards across game modes.
Hopefully if they ever make a quillboar pirate they give it the pirate tribe so the tag actually does something more than being an extra summon for N'Zoth. I guess a dual-tribe would be better, but there are so few of them with the current tribes (since all tribes other than pirate are mutually incompatible outside of amalgamations) that I can see why the devs don't think it is worth the bother.
well best pigs for N'zoth are Razormane Raider and Razorfen Beastmaster, which isn't very impactful, but hey maybe, just maybe?
Ain't the best pig for N'zoth Death's Head Cultist? Taunts, health, that's exactly what you need to hold up a late-game threat like him.
a 2/4 isn't exactly something you are excited about...
Whoooah, that N'zoth synergy didn't come to my mind, great catch!
I doubt it will make much of a difference but it's super interesting for sure
I wonder if there is any way to get better value out of Plaguemaw the Rotting with N'zoth, considering you can bring back the 10/10 elemental with rush and taunt still and a few other things. Probably would not work, but could be fun.
Sounds good but is probably redundant in the grand scheme of things.
I mean, think of it.
If you manage to play N'zoth and get back Plagumaw and a bunch of other taunts the only way to lose is if your opponent wipes the board in one go, at which point Plaguemaw dies and does nothing.
it will work actually, Not sure how good deck is, but it is an interesting consideration, there are a lot of tribed taunts for synergy
