My Dream for Battlegrounds

Would adore it if one day they released 10 new champions into the game, one for every class in the game. These new additions would all have the same hero power: "After you raise your tavern tier discover a [Mage, Warrior, etc] spell."
Which means you only get five a game. Also you can cast one per turn. Spells range from lightweight secrets to effects like a Flamestrike being cast before combat. It would be optimal if the pool for each discovery was 5 or 6 to keep it fresh.
It's pretty hopeful since it would be a balancing nightmare but if launched successfully would be amazing fun trying to use the 5 spells you get efficiently. Ideas?

There is already a hero that casts secrets, and I think a pre-combat Flamestrike would be either insanely broken in the mid game or utterly useless in the late game. I don't think there's much room for pre-combat spells (which is the only time you'd be able to cast them in BGs) variety - you pretty much need either Secrets or damage dealing spells. Anything else would be either unplayable, completely broken, or irrelevant.

That would be the challenge of balancing them. Your blanket statement of they'd be imbalanced could be said for anything like Pyramad giving +10 health for 1 mana. It's about striking a balance where fun can exist within parameters
Also buffs could be added. Blessing of Kings would work just fine as well as dare I say Sweeping Strikes as a final Warrior choice. It's just a matter of making sure the whole package doesn't exceed power budget.
Playing with no hero power otherwise is pretty detrimental. Maybe spells go off every fight but an ultimate for mage is Greater Arcane Missiles instead of flamestrike for example

My dream is for Battlegrounds to finally exit beta
This ain't no place for a hero
I mean...Pyramad is a bad hero. Personally I'm glad BGs and constructed feel different. I don't want the two to feel the same. That's just my opinion...you're certainly entitled to have your own opinion.
Also Tickatus exists, if you want to discuss heroes that cast spells. I think that's fairly balanced and has spells that are very different than constructed.

cool idea
OP, please include in your dream three more things:
- each hero gets +15hp
- each minion on the board deals 1 damage if it survives combat, thus making the max amount of damage taken be 13.
- add hero powers, spells, battlecries, minions, sideboard passive artifacts, etc that can increase the damage done (e.g.: tavern tier damage is doubled; or each surviving minion deals 2 damage instead of 1)
PS: spread the damage already, Blizzard. It's already a shitfest of randomness - at least allow us to have some fun even when losing.
I don't agree that minions should only ever deal 1 damage, but summoned minions (including non tokens) should only deal 1. Probably a programming nightmare to implement however.

What if the spell was auto-cast at the beginning of every combat. Make the spells really weak, but as your hero levels you grow more powerful, casting up to 5 spells every combat.
No secrets (that's Akazamzaraks thing), but there could be buffs (Blessing of Kings, Sweeping Strikes, etc.) and debuffs (Consume Magic, Polymorph, etc.) with the more powerful spells only obtainable when leveling to tier 6. Could be a neat idea if implemented well.
Also would make for a unique game as each game with that hero could be different. Maybe your DH has Immolation Aura or Chaos Nova, and you have to play your board around that now.
I'm honestly with kaladin on this one. I don't really like the idea of spells from constructed coming into Battlegrounds. The main reason is balancing and not because of how Flamestrike would be broken or something like that but rather how they can't change the card in either modes once implemented. Minions in battlegrounds are a pretty decent example because some of them are extremely hard to balance. Junkbot and Floating Watcher are a prime example as their power changed so much when you move them up or down a tier and there's no other way to balance them other than changing Constructed. Doing the same thing to spells would be bad. Tickatus is honestly a pretty good hero with spell implementation as they are completely balanced in Battlegrounds only, and Akazamzarak is a horrible one because his spells are either useless like Snake Trap or broken like Ice Block and there's no in between.
Just don't implement cards in Battlegrounds that were designed for Constructed.
Take my words with a grain of salt. I'm unranked and only play casuals lmao.
