Comments
Might be a dumb question, but does Macaw change means it only triggers ONE deathrattle of a minion instead of ALL deathrattles?
The change to Macaw is that it can no longer pick itself; otherwise its functionality should remain the same.
Thanks Linkblade! I knew I was misunderstanding how the new Macaw worked!
Wut
I like how they didn't really hold back with any nerfs this time around. Some of these cards were really on the edge of being too strong to exist category so I'm glad that they didn't just give them a slap on the wrist.
Doomsayer nerf is probably one of the best examples. It's practically a Demon Djinni that not only gives more but is also at tier 3. It even powercreeps the new card Witchwing Nestmatron. So I'm really glad they made it tier 4 (making it hard to get early) and avenge 4 (making it give less tempo compared to the other cards). Demons are probably still playable though since Mal'Ganis is now tier 3.
Pirate buffs aren't gonna do much but they won't be as feels bad to pick up anymore especially early on.
Rattler nerf really needed to happen because that card by itself just allow Beasts to beat Poison comps in the late game. Not only that, Maexxna + Rattler was really stupid, it was basically a perfect Amalgadon.
Master of Realities is now playable (probably?) but I still think Lil Rag comp needs more of a buff.
Quilboar buffs were completely expected. They were the weakest comp by far and it wasn't even close. Quilboars needed to go 6 to hit a wincon while other comps had them on tier 3/4/5.
On that note, I was hoping they'd buff menagerie. That comp suffered as much as Quils did and I'm hoping they won't be as horrible compared to other comps now.
The Pirate buffs were definitely needed, though I question whether that's enough. A few stats here and there early on definitely help but Pirates are still probably the worst tribe at endgame because all they are is a pile of stats with no abilities.
Not too sure about the Quilboars. It's nice that Charlga once again grows herself so it's not just a worthless little divine shield breaker at endgame but I'm not sure whether all the other buffs were that needed, Quilboars weren't too bad from my experience.
As for Beasts, it's hard to say. The Frog is cut in half but in the fights where the order went your way you often had way more stats than you ever needed and the fact the Macaw can't trigger on itself now is also a bit limiting. Given that, I'm not sure the Rattler nerf was required. It seemed already pretty hard to get as is, like looking for a damn Annoy-o-module in divine shield mechs. Bumping it to 5 might make it so hard to get beasts might just fall off the face of the planet. I mean, how often have you tried playing a taunt build and buying up Strongshell Scavengers? That shit almost never shows up even though you constantly resell it. It's good that Goldrinn beasts should once again be the way to go at least. A tier 2 frog definitely shouldn't be the go-to for an endgame beast build.
Demons are similar question mark. Something definitely needed to happen but it's hard to say if they'll be able to keep up in scaling with Doomsayer so heavily nerfed. I expected either an increase in tier and nerf in stats or increase in avenge count and nerf in stats. Didn't expect a nerf in tier and avenge count at the same time. Hope the nerf doesn't outright kill demons because it's a nice change of pace for demons to actually do something at endgame. I just worry they might end up like Pirates. Piles of stats and nothing else to show for it.
Good changes, overall. However, it's a mistake to leave Holy Mecherel untouched imo. That thing should have been nerfed in some way.
Galewing was pretty much a better Skycap'n Kragg. I can see why they nerfed it.
Wait Galewing got nerfed not buffed... Or I suppose changed... before it was straight upgrading you for free, not just discounting
Where is this patch??? I don't see anything!
This was datamined. There has not been a new version released.
Say what?
Very much like this change. Makes abusing early tokens to get early five-six drops much more difficult / dangerous. Makes the hero less explosive, but retains the tactical feel of pulling of explosive mid-late game shudderlings.
Golden Defiant Shipwright used to be 4/8 instead of a 6/8 for some god forsaken reason.
This is likely what the change meant.
ROFL "Text now states the buff is given to another friendly Pirate (Was random Pirate)." Was she buffing the enemy Pirates or was that just a case of ambiguous wording?:D That's hilarious.
it was buffing itself sometimes
Ah, ok, that makes more sense, then again, buffing itself seems like a viable strategy imho, but maybe too good?
They reverted Chargla? Damn
Impatient Doomsayer is a nerf, both changes are negative afterall
The Leapfrogger combo might be completely dead after this; hard to say. The nerf to the Frog was one thing, but removing Macaw's ability to self-target kills the infinite loop.
Glad to see the Doomsayer got hit as well.
That's too bad. I got a good laugh out of seeing my Macaw buff its attack to 22,000.
Wait what? I never saw that. How does (did?) that even work?
I know that leapfrogger was broken because it was all people were trying to build towards. I'm glad that beasts once again have to highroll for Goldrinn to have an end game wincondition.
