Yeah this is just way too specific. No way to increase the damage so you likely need something else to pair it with while at the same time you also need a minion on board to use it. Unless there's some crazy synergy for this I don't see it being useful.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
1 damage AOE for 1 mana + buff a minion.
May see play since it's just one mana, maybe meta dependent.
I just know I will hate seeing this played when discovered/generated.
It's a flashy effect but lacks in sinergy with other cards.
Blizz revealed like 4 cards with 1dmg aoe effect, so if hope that they will print tons of 1 health tokens or a neutral way to reduce the health of enemy minions.
By The Holy Light!
Really good at its mana cost. 1 mana for a 1 damage aoe that also does something else is great
Nice flavorful effect, almost reminds me of Voidfiend from duels. I'd think this card would be good in a control/Inner Fire combo priest. Shadow priest is mainly aggro, so doubt this spell will find a home there
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I like the effect. An interesting way to do a AoE. Effectively, it turns every minion into a potential threat to wipe an aggressive opponent's board and become too big to handle. Really neat in combination with a Taunt minion. Good tool for Control Priest, if that becomes a thing again.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
DH effect in Priest... and with Priest's scary arsenal of minions that we don't want to see buffed like this on the back end, Silence and silence effects are going to need to be standard
It has a duo problem of first being a reliable board clear, and second a strong enough buff card that justify a card slot in the deck.
Unfortunately, its not reliable, needing a target to do the job, which means in control matchups there's a small chance you'll end up buffing an enemy minion in effort to take down maybe one or two targets. And as a buff card, its kinda predicated on your opponent playing lots of dudes for this to be good at all. Even so, what's all that health going to do when Inner Fire's gone from standard?
Its likely more impactful coming out of a discover, of which its situational use may be exploited from time to time. But as a card in the deck? Perhaps only as ammo for Psyfiend is about as good as it gets.
Shadow Word: Devour? More like "Shadow Word: Nibble".
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Hmm this is a interesting card. Shadow spell so might see play in shadow priest, and Shadow Word: Devour can counter 1 health minions by training their 1 hp. This looks more like a control card, maybe in some kind of Sethekk Veilweaver value package? This doesn't really see play but perhaps the new priest card that haven't been revealed yet might change that? Maybe were getting a Inner Fire priest kinda deck? (I hope not) Worst case scenario some Inner Fire priest will use this in wild alongside Inner Fire and Stonetusk Boar, and wild is full of board swarmy decks, so it wont be hard to use Shadow Word: Devour.
Either way it looks bad now, but as this is the only priest card revealed at the time of writing this, i bet we will see more support for it.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Seems too situational to be worth running in a deck. Decreases the chance to get Renew off Wandmaker though, so that's nice.
Hahahah, im laughing way to hard at this :) :)
Still, i kinda like the card - sureley not as strong as others but could still find it`s way in the meta.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Perhaps I'm wrong, but don't minions in zoo/aggro decks usually have more than 1 health? I guess you would play this on some defensive taunt.
I'm not excited about Shadow Word: Devour, but I wouldn't count it out either. Priest has a ton of stuff you could pair with this for AOE effects like Void Flayer, Devouring Plague, and Condemn (Rank 1), and it has some useful synergy with minions you'd like to make stickier like Sethekk Veilweaver, Nazmani Bloodweaver, and even Devout Pupil. Maybe you don't main deck this, but I think there will be a lot of times you'll be happy to pick it up from Palm Reading or Renew or Wandmaker.
If tokens decks are really prevalent, this may be pretty useful to clear and buff, but it sounds already pretty conditional.
The French say that "With 'If' we would bottle Paris", which is pretty obscure way to state that adding condition to the realm of things could completely alter its essence, e. i ; if Paris was a miniature model assembled into a bottle, it could be bottled. Damn French
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Arena: Spirit Lash was perfectly playable and this is straight-up better in many use cases. 1 mana cheaper and you'd prefer to buff the health of one of your minions instead of healing your hero. The downside of this card is that you need a minion of your own on board to pull off this Whirlwind but since this only costs 1 mana that shouldn't be a problem most of the time.
Wild: The Divine Spirit/Inner Fire deck is not a common sight in today's meta, but it's not a terrible deck either. Shadow Word: Devour on its own is not going to gain much popularity for that deck, but I can't imagine this card not being in that deck.
Standard: Might make it into a control version of Shadow Priest. It likely won't fit anywhere else.
Arena > Wild > Standard
I will be using this to win aggro matchups as Shadow Priest
Inner fire priest will be a deck.
I'm waiting to see if we get any future "wild pyromancer" like minions. This seems borderline broken and in wild this is a great 3 mana, 2 dmg aoe that buffs wild pyro.
I know everyone's largely forgotten about spellburst, but this could be a decent way to combo with Wretched Tutor on turn 5 (5 mana combo, deal 3 aoe to all other minions, and buff tutor by X amount)
Could also be paired with Shadowcloth Needle to double dip on the 1 damage aoe.
Could also be amusing used to target watch posts to keep them from being killed off so easily.

A lot of power put in one card. Against heavy aggro it has a lot of synergy with Bless
I think is very good with the abominations that make aoe damage, or buffing minions to get a lot of health points and the making the old priest making attack equal to health
Run this on a high health taunt minion (Undying Disciple?) and combo it with Bless. I think that gives a good enough excuse for the card. Maybe three card combos aren't good enough though.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Going to be mean in a Bless deck, turning all minions into fuel for a surprise lethal.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Good card to pump up a minion for Bless. Situationally good as an actual AoE, but since Spell Damage can't buff it I don't see that as its main use.
Welcome to the site!
Only viable when discovered. I do not see any existing deck that wants this ability.
It seems a little too weak to warrant a deck slot.
