The final day of the ongoing Battle for Alterac Valley has come, and it's all official now: after being in the lead for the past few weeks, the Alliance faithful got to solidify their advantage over the Horde followers! If you were following along with this Honor event, it perhaps doesn't come as such a great surprise.
Quote From Blizzard Congratulations to the winning faction of the Battle of Alterac Valley:For Azeroth. For the Alliance!
This marks the end of the competition that split Hearthstone players into two separate camps based on their choice between Drek'Thar and Vanndar Stormpike, and ran from the very release of Fractured in Alterac Valley on December 7 up until today on January 11 (even though the whole Honor system went online before that). Perhaps now at least some individuals might be able to relax with their unending Honor grind. Expect your Diamond card reward to arrive at a later date!
But Where Are My Numbers?
If you were expecting detailed stats, graphs, or any other extra information about the event, it looks like a little more patience is in order:
Quote From Nicholas 'DeckTech' Weiss Congrats to the Alliance! Everyone can look out for a longer form blog post with some more detailed stats, coming within the next week or so.
Perhaps we'll be able to find out how many billions of Honor were collected in total, how many people participated on each side, or which players might've scored the highest amount.
And don't worry if you still have a lot of Honor to collect and many ranks to achieve to reach the end of your Legendary Questline. It is a ton of games needed after all, but there are still good 3 months left to get there at your leisure. Even afterwards, these Golden cards should still be available for completing specific achievements.
Quote From Blizzard The period for tallying the winning faction is from December 7 to January 11, but you can collect Honor to complete your personal Legendary Quest Chain at any point throughout the Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion. After the expansion period, the Legendary Quest Chain will be replaced with another means to earn these rewards.
Are you happy with the Alliance triumph, or too busy mourning for the Horde? What kind of stats from the event would you love to see next week?
Comments
Only horde player here.
Only picked the alliance one because it was objectively the better option unless I was going to play aggro. Which I don't. I wish it let you choose a faction then let you pick a legendary. Especially since I hear a lot of people had undisenchantable copies of the legendary for a while after release.
I took alliance only because at the time there was only combo or aggro decks and I was like 'hey maybe a big minion deck can be made with this vanndar dude'
I knew it had little chance to work but taking the other card to try yet another face deck was not even an option.
I wonder if other people made the same reasoning and if the outcome of the battle was more about the meta we wanted than some horde vs alliance pride stuff.
I have noticed that since the end of the battle, it looks like you only get 20 honor per win. I have played a lot of constructed, I doubt it was only against one side of the battle and have yet to see 40 honor for a win.
For the Alliance! Though even if we had lost or whatever it was a great event, hope they do more of this in the future. This made each match a bit more exciting, specially when against the other faction.
Enjoy your victory while it lasts Allaince!
Very fun event. Love to see more events in the future. Not even just faction war but:
1) building supplies in an event preparing for an expansion. (Think opening of AQ for wow players).
2) choosing an npc or faction and racing to collect fossils or some such in an archeological dig event.
3) Choosing a profession and "crafting" the best armor or weapon (voting somehow on what card gets the diamond treatment but in game).
Random ideas but the point is players getting to somehow choose what card gets a shiny boarder or maybe what character becomes a playable hero is fun. Especially when it involves playing the game more.
Got the point.
It could be a nice addition to Scholomance were some "classes" are splitted in families like Hogwarts or even the Evil League were we decide if the Explorers or the Evil league wins.
Alliance winning Alterac Valley Battle.... never saw it on Cthun server and I played this bg like full days.
Hahaha what a time to be alive :)
I, for myself, am a bit sad Horde didn´t win. Not because I picked it, but because I think a diamond Drek'Thar would look just awesome. The lightning, the rain, those angry wolfs sticking out from the card.. Well, anyways, congrats Alliance :)
Same. Wish I could dust this boring old dwarf art.
Haha ... dwarf fart.
I picked Horde from the beginning only because I thought Drek'Thar would make for an amazing diamond card.
I did my part by regularly losing against Alliance. I only picked Horde because I thought DerekThar would be better in the short run, I haven't used it. And I even got Vandaar in my fisrt 10 packs, gladly I disenchanted that.
I TOTALLY missed dusting my regular Vanndar because I was using it in a deck. Even missed the post that reminded me even tho I check in here every day. Thought I had until the patch. Ah well, gonna end up with three different copies I guess xD
I mean if we are gonna get only a diamond version of a card that we already have a non-disenchatable copy, at least give us a chance to do dust it. Otherwise I don't see any remarkable advantage of "winning".
I think dean has already clarified before that this is supposed to be a 'cosmetic' so its deliberately not allowed to be dusted. Obviously this is an ongoing point where golden cards are offered in the rewards track, perfectly usable on its own, but cannot be dusted if you have a normal copy.
The advantage is being able to marvel at your diamond copy I guess.
Feels kinda bad to end up with golden and diamond Vanndar and just regular Drektar, but oh well, it was a gamble and it is what it is 😉
You will get a golden Drek'Thar, if you reach 7200 honor before the next expansion.
Someone won something,? I must have missed something because the only thing I see is everyone getting a diamond card that isn’t even really used. So amazingly awesome that battle was. Wouldn’t have known because it was all the same to me.. wasn’t this diamond card only supposed to be given to the players who attained high or grand status by jan11th? As with all woke companies everyone , even the losers, get a prize. Everyone will get a diamond Drek card eventually as well too . Another distraction by clueless people who don’t know what they are doing to sustain the façade of being competent. The effort put into this was a 2 out of 10 and absolutely pathetic
Vanndar Stormpike is used in Big priest, and likely will be included in any "Big" deck in the future. While priest isnt popular right now, I like the deck and will put the diamond card in place of the golden one when I get it.
Buddy you need a break from the internet
Your response deserves the high school kid reply ,who knows everything,, you mad bruh? Why you would even respond this way clearly tells me you were upset by my comment so much that all you can say is I need a break? I’ve done everything in the game and own everything in the game. I’ve played it since closed beta. My opinion is that the event was piss-poor and meaningless. No effort was put in to actually make it good and in the end everyone gets a participation trophy. Maybe you should take a moment and try to think of a cogent response instead of the drivel you typed and then we can have an intelligent discussion
