We've got an announcement of an announcement from the Hearthstone team this afternoon which makes it look like the mini-set is coming soon with an announcement tomorrow!
If this is going to be anything like the Stormwind mini-set which started its reveals on a Thursday, we can expect card reveals throughout the weekend and a patch next week with all the new cards. We're not sure of course if that is going to be the case, but we're certainly more than ready for these cards to drop!
If you want to know what our predictions are for the upcoming mini-set, Avalon put together a great article for exactly that.

Who's excited?

I don`t think they relase the miniset next week - because Masters Tour 1 is starting on Feb 17. So maybe the week after Masters Tour.
Bring on the cards, because we definitely need a meta shakeup right now.
Bring back Highlander decks!
Probably just a coincidence, but the gem in the center looks like a Red Mana Crystal, a scrapped mechanic from the Gadgetzan expansion for the Kabal. The Kabal are tied to Kazakus who will most likely play a significant role in the miniset.
Interesting interview from 2017 stating they'd like to introduce Red Mana somewhere down the road. This would be the perfect opportunity if they ever do that.

They tried to make a new ressource (Wrath) when they prototyped various ideas for a DH class, but again came to the conclusion that it's just not worth it. So I don't think that Idea will come up again anytime soon.
The reason they cut it from DH is that it was too restrictive for an evergreen class mechanic. They'd basically have to design every future card around the special resource forever, or at least give it constant support. I could however see it as a mechanic for an expansion cycle.
I doubt they would introduce a mechanic that complicated in a mini-set.
Iksar on Mini-sets, back when Darkmoon Races came out.
It's a cool idea, but I think you need more than 35 cards to really sell it.
If that could bring us a flock of dragons ...
.... I'd be so happy
Honestly, I have the exact opposite problem with the minisets... too many of the cards are cutesy.
I'm not excited
Why even comment?
Sorry for you man, because I do
I smell dragons!
My bad, sorry. I killed a Deathwing, Dragonlord, and it dropped a lot of the stuff on board. :p
There's not a chance that it isn't Whitemane's staff. We also got Saidan the Scarlet in the last set, who is a Scarlet Crusade leader that has nothing to do with Alterac Valley. This is a Scarlet Monastery set. No doubt.
I can't tell if you're joking, but you should probably Google some images of Lady Prestor and Whitemane.
Funnily enough, I actually did look up pictures of Whitemane to compare the staff.
It seemed like a pretty clear match, but apparently the design was changed in Mists when Scarlet Monastery was revamped. Prestor makes a lot more sense.
The first two of those look like fan art. (This is why Wikipedia makes such a big deal about reliable sources.)
In the screenshot from the actual game, you can see the dangly bits, which are a dead giveaway, and you can't really see the top of the staff, which is a lot different from Prestor's.
They are indeed very similar, but the color hue itself more closely follows that of Onyxia/Prestor than Whitemane.
I know nothing about lore, but looking up images, Lady Prestor's staff seems to have a blueish gem on it's center. Does the game change?
Also, most Whitemane images show her stuff having some air between the parts of the staff, so IDK
