looks trash. I guess it's just Mage's fate to get really underwhelming cards each mini set. Let's hope the minions are good at least.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Rolling Fireball is more effective in comparison.
Deal 8 for 5mana. Can deal more than 3 minions, and don't need any support from hand.
Knowledge is Power
The only thing taking this card down is its cost. Fire Sale by comparison burns the entire board, and comes out a turn earlier. This card has the potential to do more, but your opponent would wisely play around this, and the only way this card would ever be in contention to be more than trash, it has to do at least 4-6 damage. Not exactly an easy feat.
Is there any hope? Yes. Big spell mage would love more AoE thats smaller than Flamestrike, and rogue has an additional AoE option via Wand Thief. Just dont bet your house on this card.
I hope this is sarcasm, because if you played it with Big Spell Mage Iceblood Tower and call this from deck, it will just go hitting random minions for a flimsy 1-3 damage. Not even worth putting it in any deck. Honestly, Fire Sale is much better for trading purpose
Knowledge is Power
In my opinion, Iceblood Tower is a poor card to begin with, and if I was playing big spells it wouldn't be in my list. I should've also added that this is a fairly decent card in any spell mage, where its likely to actually accomplish something. Fire Sale is, as you say, a better card in most circumstances.
Just trying my best to see how this card can fit into anything other than a trash can.
Very interesting card, but you will generally need 4-5 spells in hand. If you don't have that then Deep Breath won't be worth playing. This means it's best in BIG spell decks. However most of those also run the Wildfire/Heropower package, which means it fights with Wildfire for the Magister Dawngrasp recast. And Deep Breath is also bad alongside Iceblood Tower (Which is also not a good card)
And in terms of clearing the board, Fire Sale often does everything that Deep Breath wants to do, but way better. Fire Sale also has tradeable so it's also card draw.
Standard: Might see experimentation at best, probably in Big spell mage decks that don't run the heropower package and just play big spells. (Which is still fun)
Wild: Won't see play, not even in Big spell mage decks. This is because Big spell mage in wild has Dragon's Fury which is also better in pretty much every way.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
This would only work in a heavily spell focused deck that tends to keep a large hand. Even then it might be too expensive. I could see it being used to kill a powerful minion and killing its neighbors as a bonus.
Everyone is bashing this... but look at what Combustion has been able to do. This is somewhat controllable with the amount of damage you can do as well.
Not sure about this one ... it's too bad to see play in Big Spell Mage and im not sure enough it would fit in other archetypes like Hero Power Mage ... overall i think this will not see much play.
