Herald of Light - Inherent combo with Northshire Cleric, but in my opinion its just not worth it because Gift of the Naaru plays that role better. Perhaps it'll see some play in quest or highlander, but in most other cases you'd just play gift of narru.
Disarming Elemental - Im not entirely sure why'd anyone be playing this card. Seems like a highlander card, because its disruption but in a way that's simply too inconsistent to ever be good enough in constructed play.
Drown - It may be a cheaper Entomb but its also 4 mana to remove a threat, where Shadow Word: Death only costs 2. Probably get it off discover effects more often than actually included into a deck.
Entomb was used alongside a 3-mana SW:Death, so there's no reason to think that comparison will hold Drown back much. More likely it just depends on whether there are enough big minions in the meta to want that effect at all.
I still doubt it. Even in the earlier much maligned druid meta where we see regular big dudes at every turn Shadow Word: Ruin and death were still one card each in priest decks.
Im not saying that the card is useless, but its the sort of thing I much rather be discovering rather than actually having it in the deck. And the reasoning is obvious; for every ramp druid there's always murlocks or naga dhunters creeping about where a 4 mana removal option is simply too slow to do anything. Even 2x SWdeath in a deck is fairly rare nowadays. Most of the time its 1 copy. We have to go back to the days of 4 mana Mountain Giants to justify 2x SWdeath let alone 2x death + 2x drown being thrown into a list.
Thanks to having 20 mana, lots of card draw and Kazakusan, that druid deck made removal more futile than most decks with mid-to-large minions. You could deal with the whole deck fine until they blew you up with 4 treasures in 1 turn. So I'm not surprised priests didn't bother teching against it much.
I agree we'd need a surprisingly low population of aggro decks to run 2 copies of Drown, but control priests never really play for tempo, so it costing 4 mana can easily be compensated for by it not triggering deathrattles or having the 5+ attack limitation. So I don't think it gets squeezed out of decks just because SW:Death is cheaper.
Great point!
Drowning someone is a shadow spell? How so?
My guess is that it is a shorthand justification for priest doing something decidedly cruel, while also handing control decks something else when they require shadow spells. If it was in any other class I doubt it would have a spell school, though shaman might give it nature since that's usually what their water spells are classified as.
Drown looks very strong. And as it's a shadow spell I can put it in my raza shadow priest deck. I really missed entomb in that deck, so drown will fit the spot very nicely.
The dredge for your opponent looks like and interesting mechanic, but more than an anti-agro tool I really can't think of anything else. Well maybe it's nice to know what kind of cards your opponent has, but as most ppl play meta decks it's typically pretty obvious anyway...
If they're playing a combo deck, and you Dredge one of their combo pieces and make it cost a few mana extra, that's game-winning.
Yeah that's true... Although I don't have in mind which combo's have one offs of something that is less than 6 mana... I'm not saying there isn't any, just that I can't think of any right now.
I would think that, in general, if you look to disrupt (again talking wild) dirty rat would normally be better.
Drown and Disarming Elemental: this, priest, is why nobody likes you doing well :P
They might not even be that crazy, but damn they're going to be annoying (I haven't forgotten people's hatred for Entomb). I guess Ambassador Faelin kinda counters the elemental at least. There's no way the priest would want to dredge any colossal for you, especially giving a mana discount.
Seriously. I get that priest is struggling right now but why can't they print strong cards without them being annoying.
WTF... they powercrept Entomb?
To be fair, it has been almost 7 years since Entomb was printed. Considering everything else that got power creeped since then, I'm not surprised.
Disarming Elemental and Drown look very interesting.
