Quest Naga Sandwich OTK

Disclaimer: I don't anticipate that this deck will be good, and I feel that it's definitely outclassed by other, more consistent, variants of Quest Mage. There's a reason this deck is dubbed under 'Just For Fun'.

How Does The Deck Work?

This deck's end goal is to kill the opponent using Pyroblasts discounted from Naga Sand Witch and damage boosted by Malygos. Using Archmage Vargoth, Malygos, and the Quest Reward, Time Warp, you should theoretically be able to do 30 damage to the opponent in a single turn. Let me break it down.

The deck plays out like a normal Quest Mage. Your goal is to complete the quest, Open the Waygate, while drawing through your deck to obtain all of your combo pieces as quickly as possible. The necessary combo pieces you need to draw are Archmage Vargoth, Malygos, both Pyroblasts, and Naga Sand Witch.

Using Clockwork Gnome, Magic Trick, Babbling Book, Primordial Glyph, and Ray of Frost's Twinspell effect, you should reliably generate enough spells to be able to complete the quest.

Cards like Sorcerer's Apprentice, Stargazer Luna, Ancient Mysteries, Research Project, and Questing Explorer should help you cycle through your deck to both consistently get your quest completers and your combo pieces.

For survivability, cards like Frost Nova, Ice Barrier, Ray of Frost, Mirror Image, and Ice Block should help you stay alive long enough to pull off the combo.

The Combo

Either before or after you've completed your quest, if you have Naga Sand Witch and both Pyroblasts in hand, play the Naga Sand Witch to reduce both Pyroblast's mana costs by 5.

Note: Playing the Naga Sand Witch before you've completed your Quest might significantly slow down your Quest Progress, as your hand will likely be clogged with 5 Mana Spells.

Once you've completed your Quest, and have all your combo pieces, you can now pull off the combo.

1.) Play Time Warp and Archmage Vargoth on the same turn. This will grant you two extra turns!

Note: It's very important that you do not play another spell during the turn you do this as to not risk Archmage Vargoth not casting Time Warp at the end of your turn.

2.) At the start of your first additional turn, play Malygos.

3.) At the start of the following turn, play both Pyroblasts and cast them on your opponent.

Because of the 5 Mana discount from Naga Sand Witch and the spell damage boost from Malygos, for 5 Mana a single Pyroblast can do 15 Damage! Play two, and you have 30 Damage ready to target face! On average this should be enough to kill your opponent. In case the two Pyroblasts are not enough on their own, Malygos, Archmage Vargoth, and any other minions you have on board will likely give you a good amount of chip damage to finish your opponent off.

Note: Archmage Vargoth may also cast Pyroblast at the end of your turn as a last resort to finish off your opponent, but because the targets are random, the chances of Pyroblast hitting your opponent are slim, so don't count on it too much.

Card Alternatives

If you're finding that you're quickly running out of steam, being overrun by decks with lots of small tokens, or are struggling to complete your quest, try and find space for the Mana Cyclone package, featuring two Mana Cyclones, Elemental Evocations, and often Flamewakers.

Playing a bunch of small spells in a single turn along with Elemental Evocation gives you a zero mana Mana Cyclone that promptly refills your hand with random Mage spells. With cards like Sorcerer's Apprentice and Stargazer Luna on board, you should not only be able to fuel Mana Cyclone's battlecry, but you should also be able to dump the generated spells from your hand to both complete your quest and make room for your combo pieces. Flamewaker takes advantage of both the fuel and dumping process by clearing small minions and by doing chip damage to your opponent in case the two Pyroblasts don't initially do enough.

Note: Naga Sand Witch has anti synergy with this package, so be wary. This package is more suited for the Mimiron's Head, Arcane Giant, and Archmage Antonidas variants of Quest Mage.

If you're not a fan of the current card drawers in this deck, there's a plethora of alternatives that can fit in their place, such as Arcanologist, Arcane Intellect, Coldlight Oracle, Bloodmage Thalnos, Loot Hoarder, and Novice Engineer.

Finally, there's many alternative cards out there to help complete the quest, help cycle through your deck, and help keep you alive. Cards like Banana Buffoon, Tome of Intellect, Shooting Star, Doomsayer, Frostbolt, and Ice Lance often come to mind.

That's all there is to it really. This deck does have weaknesses. Decks that feature combo disruptive tools, decks that have armor gain that puts you out of 30 damage OTK reach, and various aggro decks, will likely have an edge on you. This deck isn't perfect, so feel free to mess with it however you'd like!

Play two, and you have 30 Damage ready to target face! On average this should be enough to kill your opponent.

It's 30 plus the damage you can make with your minions (as long as Vargoth doesn't kill you with a Pyroblast to your face). Even so, I really hope this combo doesn't stick due to being slow or unreliable because the current Quest Mage is disgusting enough to add more flavor to it.

Totally forgot about the extra damage Malygos, Vargoth, and other minions can do, thanks for mentioning that.
