Yea... If this was 2 mana, I'd be sold that totem Shaman would be a thing again. At 3 mana, not so much
If it was 2 mana, you could coin it and there would be a lot of games where this creates 2, 3 or more totems and then you just slap The Stonewright down to give them +2 attack while you had free board building from turn 1 or 2. I get that at 3 mana it is not as interesting, but at 2 it would create such polarizing games and everyone would cry about it.
Lol
I dont hate it. But at the same time I just dont think there's enough reasons to run this card, aside from the fact that you really want to play totem aggro shaman.
The main problem here isn't really what this thing does, or the fact that you only summon basic totems, but because murlocs do the job a hell lot better. Clownfish practically allows the same thing for the same mana cost, with better stats, doesn't need infusions, and with Amalgam of the Deep & Gorloc Ravager you dont even need to bother too much about reload. In fact, if you need to flood the board so badly just play Schooling instead
But here's the thing. If you want to play totem shaman, you can because this card is decent, bordering to being good. Mostly because of The Stonewright, which when repeated by macaw makes this card completely insane. The infuse requirement is a mere 2, so its not even that hard to activate it. The deck only needs one more card that adds survivability to the totems and it might actually convince me to play this instead of murlocs.
Let's say you have the dream draw and play Stonewright on turn 4, then Macaw on turn 5, then this on turn 6; you'll get two 4/2's to use on turn 7. Compared to what other decks can put on the board, that's not all that great. And this is the dream scenario: if you don't draw Stonewright and Macaw, it's going to look much worse.
Apart from the problem of not drawing Stonewright, there is also the question what you're going to play on turns 1-3. You can't snowball if you fall behind on board and unbuffed totems are statted worse than murlocs, mechs or beasts. If Stonewright had a start-of-game effect, it could work, but as a battlecry it just comes in too late and too inconsistently.
I remember giving Anchored Totem a thumbs down when it was first introduced but at the start of sunken city I was actually surprised at how well it worked in a sort of aggro/token shell. Perhaps, and that's again, perhaps, that's where totem aggro shaman is heading towards.
Flooding board is still a viable strat, and Im not saying stonewright will suddenly take over the meta with a party totem being its vizier, but its intriguing enough to me that at some point within the next 1.5 years we might actually have a totem aggro deck where both these cards being actual winners.
I think this is just another case whereby there's clearly a better archetype (murlocs) but if you really really want to just play totem shaman, then I can see it happening, and this card would be a key player in it.
Even when infused, I don't think the effect is worth 3 mana plus a card. As a top-deck, it's even worse.
rubbish
Should be 2 mana or have higher hp.
If this in infused its terrible and even then you need to have it infused and on curve to not be a meh. Sure its 3 bodies for 1 card but turn 4/5/6 later it onyl egts eaier and easier to deal with 0 attackl totems
3 mana for a ridiculous stats and a basic totem? Get out of here. 1/5
EDIT, many of us would think the 4 mana legendary with permanent +2 attack would be good, but to expect 1 legendary card to save the situation can't be called a winning strategy.
shrug
I'm looking at the bare minimum you need for Totem synergy and Infuse jumpstarting and it produces no consistent threat on board and no board speed (rush) in a world where Druid gets several dozen mana's worth of minions for free without similar hoop-jumping.
Given the current reveals, if this worked, it would be better fodder for evolve than totem.
But it doesn't really work. You really need that infuse to make it worthwile but there's nothing you can cheaply feed it. Aggro might feel the need to kill these spawns because of eventual Taunt manufacture, but control, or even tempo, will just let you have it.
The last time evolve effects were in Standard, the only reason they worked was when a minimum 3-cost set of a minimum of 3 minions was evolved at once. The Shaman location Muck Pools won't cut it, but Primordial Wave will -- but you have no mana cheat, so that's on 6/5+coin. For 3 4 mana cards. I'll grant you one 5 mana card from the location. Convincing Disguise is effectively gatekeeped until turn 5 as well.
Druid has half a dozen free 3/3s with Rush one turn after that -- and you don't have Rush in general, so they can afford to wait an extra turn to match you.
Evolve fodder??? it can also be a 2/3 that summons 2/2s or with some copy battlecry shenaniganes even 4/3 that summons 4/2s
For evolve fodder, you'd want a battlecry instead of an end-of-turn effect.
you need to have this infused, have played a 1 legendary that cant be tutored, have it battlecry copied multiple times and then still have this live /not be ingored. Thatd be like turn 6+, druids gets multiple rushes by that with its legendary, and just 3hp is evry little after the early game, and where describing isnt somethign thats gonna consistently happen.
And if its not infused and given the attack buff its terrible, espcialyl if not on curve (even when infused and sint on curve and sint buffed) cause low hp and 0 attack isnt hard to deal with.
Well true... But for evolc it is even worse because it is end od turn effect not battlecry
