Submitted 5 years, 4 months ago by

Hi together,

what do you think about the nerf to Questrogue? Blizzard nerfed the interaction between Sonya Shadowdancer and Stonetusk Boar, boars generated by sonya won't get  the buff from crystal core.

I don't know how Quest Rogue was fairing in wild, but this is a nice way to make Sonya to be used as intented: a value generator using little copies of big battlecriers/deathrattlers/EoT users.

This change would have made the last few months of standard Quest Rogue look less painful for control decks, though.

Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
    Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906

Lul. You have no idea how questrogue competes in wild, but you like it. You deserve my down vote for that. :D

And thx to this change Sonya Shadowdancer is unplayable now. I want my dust refund.

I’m actually quite super sad to see my favorite legendary Sonya nerfe d, who has a really badass art (Similar to Al’akir).

Now that I would have no chance to play Sonya in a good way, I’ll still try to push her into a playable card, I can’t just disenchant her.

Sonya is still playable in a range of other decks. That's a ridiculous reason to ask for a dust refund. Quest Rogue will be just fine with this interaction changed. Just swap out a couple of cards and move on. N

Did you even play Questrogue? Or did you just brabbling out of the blue?

I said I like Sonya as a value generator card, not that I like her as a Quest Rogue card.

My only comment on it's effect regarding quest rogue was how the deck was a pain in standard in it's last iteration, especially because of Sonya's interaction with cards like Giggling Inventor.

And that's why they nerfed Giggling, but now suddenly they nerf Sonya as well out of the sudden, because of some possible "wrong understanding" of the wording. For me, it is a cheap excuse to nerf Questrogue. Why? Because it doesn't even make sense, because then they should also nerf other token cards too for example [Hearthstone Card (Firefly) Not Found], because in the cardtext you can read "1/2 ..." like in Sonya or Barnes. But that would be too obvious, so they made sneaky hidden nerf.

Do you know how to listen to anyone whose opinion differs from yours, or do you just insult anyone who doesn't have the exact same view point as you? You asked for people's opinion on this matter, and every single person who has had a different viewpoint than your own, you have thrown insults at like a 12 year old.

The quest was reduced to meme status with the last nerf anyway, so this won't change much in terms of its ladder viability. Personally I think they could just unnerf the quest, if not completely restore it to its original state then at least revert one of changes they made.

Except tokens generated by cards like Fire Fly are cards of their own; Flame Elemental. Sonya and Barnes are creating 1/1 tokens of other cards. You are comparing 2 things that are completely different.

I know, but first I was triggered, when I was writing this and second I got enchanced, because you practially said "It will be fine, though I don't know how it is in wild". And fake arguements triggers me. Sonya saw no play in other in other decks aside from Questrogue, so this change it's banning her from the game. And I tried her in other decks like JadeRogue, but Sonya doesn't fit in this deck, she just too slow, not like Shadowcaster.

You are probably right and I was just triggered, because of this sneaky nerf against one deck I liked to play.

Quest rogue doesn't exist in wild and hasn't for a looong time.

So I couldn't care less about this nerf, to be honest. But consistency is always good.

Quest rogue is the saddest deck now. I loved to play it even tho it was already very bad on ladder. They killed it for no reason. Because there's not much people playing the card. They don't even care giving the full dust refund. What a theft.

Please don't tell me about the consistency joke.

To be fair, this is absolutely a nerf to The Caverns Below. It's not ridiculous to expect a dust refund on something like that. I could see the argument that Sonya hasn't been changed - even though I'd prefer a refund option on her too - but the Rogue Quest absolutely has been changed.

It's a bit late to complain about sneaky nerfs/changes to cards that don't offer refunds, since they've done it several times before and gotten away with it, but I'll keep saying this is a shitty policy if they keep doing it. Allowing them to arbitrarily define what counts as a nerf like this means they can nerf Legendary cards and not give players anything far more easily - Mekgineer Thermaplugg, Shudderwock, Jungle Giants etc.

    Welcome to the site!

This is only a contextual nerf to Sonya.

She's still a great card in Rogue, including Odd Rogue: if we want to be fair, she's more real there, than QRogue in the meta.

Surely the contextual nerf hits The Caverns Below itself very hard, and a refund for it would make sense.

But not for Sonya Shadowdancer: ie I have Sonya, but no Quest, and i would benefit out of nowhere from a change that is irrelevant to me.

It's bizarre and completely counter-intuitive for those 1/1 tokens not to become 4/4 the minute they hit the board. I'm pretty sure they're not doing this for balance purposes, so who in their right mind thinks this is more intuitive or easy to understand?

    Terrible change.

Quest rogue is still so badly designed that they had to nerf it again. Sounds like they're making sure their cards work consistently. Good nerf!

Quest rogue isn't meta anymore and it will never be - at least, not until his role as anticontrol deck is better fulfilled by other stronger deck - so this nerf isn't understandable at all.

And consistency based, I think this is wrong again. The quest reward say "you minion are 4/4", so I don't understand why Barnes token or Sonya generated card isn't a minion :/ did they transform my boar to a weapon without saying anything???

However, for me Quest Rogue died after Patches nerf, because I only played it for the fun factor of OTK from nothing shuffling 5/5 charrrrrge pirate in my deck. But I still think that we should get dust refund here, just as they did give dust refund after having changed the mechanic interaction of Yogg Saron and the spell that kills him.

The only thing I know is they must not nerf Sonya the way they did to Jaina. The booty must not be touched!
