New Rogue Minion - Scourge Illusionist

I like this idea, but I don't think this is enough to bring Deathrattle Rogue back to life in Standard. 

I dno... there's something about this card that wants me to give it 4 stars...

The mana discount is nothing to laugh about which is even more mana discount on top of Rotten Rodent. I really enjoyed deathrattle rouge back in the LOE days with Unearthed Raptor, so I'm keen to try this archetype again, even if its bad.

Side note: imagine a deathrattle rogue with Bonelord Frostwhisper

If the minion you get cost originally 4 mana it is a free 4/4 copy. Sounds great.

The most obvious synergy is Sketchy Information + 2 Rotten rodent.

T1 : Rotten rodent (assuming coin)

T2 : Rotten rodent

T3 : Sketchy Information => Draw and trigger Scourge Illusionist => Copy a 10-mana deathrattle, it now cost 4(!) (*)

T4 : Enjoy playing a 10-mana deathrattle "on curve".

What if your opponent silence/transform it ? Well, it was just a copy. Just actually play Scourge illusionist to tutor another big deathrattle copy.

(*) Or if you get "unlucky" and pull your second copy of scourge illusionist, play it that turn, as it's now a 0-mana card. Chances are that you will get to trigger its deathrattle before T4's end.

EDIT : If you find that T3 too slow, or want to tutor a non-deathrattle minion, you may consider putting Masked Reveler. You'll get to play it the same turn, it has rush to trade against aggro, and it will synergize nicely with itself, scourge illusionist, or any minion with a powerful non-battlecry effect you may want to cheat out early.

Deathrattle support for rogue? Are we sure this isn't a mage card or something. Pretty sure its against the rules to print such things for rogue

But jokes aside. This card is good, and will likely make for a barrel of laughs with Snowfall Graveyard. As to its practical applications, Im still running my brain for a payoff, because its kinda slow, even if it cheats out Stoneborn General.

More likely it'll be inserted into mine rogue, and work from there.

That's a massive discount, and with that many deathrattle synergy, cost reduction and effects, it really makes me hopeful that Deathrattle Rogue will be viable in standard again!

This will let you play a 4/4 Foul Egg for 0 mana, won't it? I'm not sure if this will be better for playing low-cost minions for free with a buff, or high-cost minions for cheap where the deathrattle is more important than its stats.

Too bad this wouldn't work for Da Undatakah

Mana cheat, Doesn't actually draw the card instead adds a copy. This can create some funny scenarios where you play this in hand + have one in deck, and thus you can keep putting down Scourge Illusionists until you draw the 2nd copy. (Assuming you have no other deathrattle minions in deck) And even then, imagine getting a free Rotten Rodent for more mana-cheat. Worst case scenario, your just pumping up your Sire Denathrius with 1 minion at least per turn.

I'm not sure how good this will be right now, but i'm really inclined to give this 4 stars because this will be NUTS the second DR Rogue gets any more support. (Assuming it gets any, just look at previous DR rogue "support" a.k.a. 1-2 filler cards per expansion)

Seemed intended use: make a value-tempo based deathrattle rogue.
Predicted outcome: 0 Mana 4/4 Naval Mines.

This card won't be annoying to deal with at all, nope...
