Battlecry: Enemy Battlecry cards cost (5) more next turn.
Means that it counters not only minions, but weapons with Battlecry (not much that see any play), and most importantly hero cards like Galakrond too. This guy will definitely see play as Loatheb has.
Riiiiiight........
Because Shaman really needed more high roll output didn't they, oh and this mini set comes with a 10 mana spell, how fucking convenient for them.
Fuck you blizz.
Hey, I was just wondering, how long it will take Blizz to confirm the other leaked cards? They seem like a filler ones, but i am somehow pretty sure that they are the cards.
Is The Fist of Ra-den the last legendary in the set then? It's a weird distribution of class legendaries, especially given the extra legendaries that the EVIL classes got in DoD.
I believe (speculation) that each class will get a legendary. There are four chapters for good and evil (8 in total) so at least each good class should get a hero card
They said 4 legendaries in the announcement, so I fear those are going to be the only (4) ones.
I thought the same. Let's hope we're right!
Hey, I'm back with more math, here's the breakdown of getting a desirable card out of the new shaman weapon. For the criteria of what makes a legendary good, it needs to reach specific criteria. For legendaries 4 mana and below, their stats must be either premium or on-rate of a normal card of the same mana cost. for example, casting a 3 mana spell must get at least a 3/3 worth of stats, if not more. For legendaries 5 and above, I used this formula to see if they would be considered hits or not, (attack + health)/2 = mana cost of spell - 1. For example, if I cast a 6 mana spell, if I got a 5/5 or above out of it, it would be considered a hit. I did make some exceptions, such as zilliax being a good hit because despite his awful stats he has enough keywords to make me feel inclined to put him there.
Aside from that, I have situational cards, these being ones that can be certain good in a specific matchup or god awful depending on what the scenario is. For example with Kalecgos, he's super strong to get as your last tick of the weapon as if he survives, next turn you can play any spell you want. However, if you have more weapon charges left, the weapon now essentially reads "For the first spell you cast, lose 1 durability", which surprise surprise, is bad. This is also the area where the effects of the cards might backfire, such as Dr. Morrigan pulling out an important battlecry minion or Baron Geddon killing you/giving your opponent lethal.

Going by this, the best spells to cast in my opinion are 5 cost spells, a 66% chance to get a minion with good stats significantly outweighs the chance you lowroll and give your opponent a free card with duskfallen aviana or summon a 2/2. Overall this weapon is in a strange spot, if control shaman can come back again I can totally see this card running because a Hagatha's Scheme that comes with a body is very strong, as well as getting a bunch of extra stats when rain of toads is cast. Regardless, the card looks strong, it's just whether someone can find a good home for the card.
Thanks for the stats. I would however disagree with your categorisation to an extent.
We're looking at what is essentially 4 mana 'do nothing' as the weapon. Assuming you're only playing spells that you wanted in your deck in the first place (which is probably going to be the case given that maindecking bad cards to use alongside a one-of that can easily be removed would be highly suspect), you don't need any great outcomes - all you want to make the card worthwhile is a couple of chunks of stats. From a pure value-exchange perspective just a single 4/4 would be enough, but given the tempo loss from burning your 4 mana ahead of time you'll probably want more than that.
With that in mind, I would argue that any dumb block of stats with no potential downside (and big enough to have a board impact) is a hit. For example, in your 10 mana analysis (manalysis?) I would classify every card on the list except Hakkar as a 'hit'. Even if you pull Phaoris (which is probably the lowest roll available) you're dropping a 5/5 alongside the spell's effects, which is far from bad. And that's just one of your charges - if you dropped a 5/5 every turn on average, I'd class that as a definite hit from a 4 mana outlay.
I don't mean to overhype the weapon, by the way - it looks pretty good as a late game play, noting that ol' Medivh was a feature of several control decks back in the day, but far from gamebreaking - just noting that in my opinion your analysis tends towards undervaluing it a little.
Was waiting for someone to post the numbers out. Great job!
Focus on manas 5, 7 and 10
Hagatha's Scheme, Earthquake, and the new Eye of the Storm as most likely candidates for the weapon effect.
I'm pretty sure Earthquake will kill whatever you summon.
"After you cast a spell", so no.
dont get me wrong bro, you do great work! But you saw 6mana 4/4 as bad and 5mana 4/4 as good. 5mana 4/4 is also not a hit. so please consider the card value more. ty.
The main reason why the 6 mana 4/4 is considered bad while the 5 mana 4/4 is considered good is mainly because of the expected output of each of the mana costs. Considering how many minions have at least 5/5 worth of stats in the 6 mana pool, it would be expected to get stats better than a 4/4. If we look at the 5 mana legendaries, a lot of them have stats between being a 5/5 to a 4/4 and since your spending less mana on the spell, it's only natural to expect less of a payout in terms of stats.
Another important thing is that even though I have it labeled as bad doesn't always mean "if you get this stuff constantly then the weapon is worthless". If we look at the 10 mana slot, both king phaoris and nozari are listed as bad, but if your playing Eye of the storm when you have this weapon out, you would still be getting 3 5/6 taunts and either another 5/5 or a 4/12, which both I would say are good things to happen, it's just that compared to the rest of the cards there, these two are lackluster.
That being said, I'm glad you still enjoyed it and everything!
Escaped Manasaber is interesting. You probably can't plan to get a lot of long-term value out of it - once it loses stealth your opponent will take it down hard - so the biggest question is which 6-drops do you want to be playing on turn 5. This is clearly very useful in a Ramp Druid as a way to get Nourish out on turn 5 like the pre-nerf days, and dropping Reno the Relicologist or Blizzard (or just about every Mage 6-drop) a turn early could be pretty impactful. It doesn't immediately leap out at me as worth the opportunity cost in other contexts, though.
One potentially interesting application might be in a combo deck - enabling you to play an 11 mana combo the turn after it enters play, but that case is probably niche.
The Fist of Ra-den seems really powerful. Where Eye of the Storm seemed like a card that really wants to be supporting some kind of Wild Spellstone Shaman, now it's a compelling tool in a Big Shaman deck that uses this in concert with Hagatha's Scheme, Earthquake, and various big tempo spells (Rain of Toads and Eye of the Storm) to overpower the enemy.
Why does it say, "Lose one Durability"? No other weapon cards say that. It's weird.
Atiesh and Sword of Justice both say it. It is there because weapons only normally lose durability if you attack, but these ones are designed to have a set number of effects.
Discover two Warlock cards for 2 mana is actually nuts.
A neutral mana-gain card, not sure whether that kind of card ever printed before.
It has not.
