Lunar Quests - help me I'm dumb
I'm really bad at remembering exactly how these "non-chain" (like in expansion drops) work for maximizing value. So new Lunar New Years Quests start tomorrow. How many quests should I have open tomorrow morning (EST) to max reroll and not miss any?
I can't recall the actual workings - do we get a normal quest at tomorrow before the event starts (presumably at 09:00 PST like everything else) and then a SECOND event quest once the event starts? I want to have the 2 to reroll without missing a free "extra" one if that's part of it. So do I need to save ONLY today's quest & tomorrow's normal quest to reroll (i.e. I saved yesterday's quest too - should I complete it?)? Or is it just the one quest tomorrow so I should have yesterday's and today's quest saved?
Thank you!

Can you explain a bit as to why...is this to make an extra 50 gold? Or 60? Some amount which you can earn in one day by winning enough games?
But I thought it worked as follows: if you are full, one lesser quest gets destroyed and you get the new quest anyway so you lose one. This means you should have at least one open quest slot to not lose one old quest. To be on the safe side, you could try to finish all your quest before you get the new ones so you do not miss any.
And I thought normal new quests are added at the start of the day (so at midnight at my zone). When I play late I usually get a new quest after midnight. So the normal new one would be added before the special event one.
And you want to maximize value but that would be to just do all the quests and not reroll any?
I would be very surprised if you could reroll normal daily quests into these special holiday gold&dust quests. Does this work? Can anyone else confirm?
I would swear these "event" quests at least USED to work like this (i.e. for the Fire Festival in the summers) so I assumed they still do
Can you explain a bit as to why...you felt the need to make this snide comment?
Yes it's to try and make extra gold and dust. It must be nice to have free time to play 20-30 games per day to get enough wins for get that amount of gold, but I don't have that much time so trying to not to miss "free" stuff where possible.
I would welcome any useful advice here
Ok sorry about my snide comment :) Part of my motivation for this is that I think the current rewards for the quests are underwhelming, especially if you really not want to play other classes than my favorite. So most of the time I ignore the quests and then once a month I notice I have some serious gold to spend and I go buying packs or do some arena.
Maybe I should just use that gold to make my favorite class completely golden :) then suddenly it has some serious purpose again.
Not really since 1) the event quests reward gold AND dust, and 2) many of the event quests are 80g/100g + dust so have a good chance to reroll into more than current.
But yeah I guess my main question breaks down to: are we getting a "normal" quest tomorrow morning before the event launches AND THEN a second event quest once (I'm assuming here) the event goes live at 09:00 PST, or is it just the one quest for the day? That will answer whether I should complete one of the saved quests or save them both.
The daily quest you get at the start of a new day will be a normal one.
When the event starts later that day, an event quest will be forced into your account.
So 2 quests in the log at the start of the event is max value.
Rerolling these 2 standard quest will award you event quests.
During the event 60 gold/dust quests are a mandatory reroll, as you can't get a quest lower than 60.
At least this is how 2019's Lunar event worked.
Thank you
Learn something new every day. Are you guaranteed a special quest or is it just a chance to reroll into one? Pretty sure this hasn't happened to me and it's not like I never reroll quests...
What if you wait to login until after the event has started? Will you get a normal quest and a special quest or 2 special quests?
CONFIRMED. You can reroll normal quests to lunar event quests. Just did this on my Asia account
All generalizations are false.
You'd get one normal and one special quest, but apparently there's a chance to reroll that normal quest into a holiday quest as well
Well, 60 gold means you need to win 18 games. This, having ~50% winrate is 36 games. One game taking ~7.30 minutes (data from Blizzard) means you need to play ~4 hours 30 minutes. Most people who have life does not have that much time to play HS.
So no, winning 18 games in one day is quite a lot.

Screenshot from a few minutes ago (ASIA account) as picture worth 1000 (ok 25) words. Rerolled a normal so now have 2 event quests.
All generalizations are false.
On EU, a friend told me he had all empty slots and got two additional new quests (gold+dust) this morning. I got a normal quest at 00:00 today, making it 3 total, passed one so I have one slot free, and haven't got anything new today. Then I rolled one of them into an upgraded one, completed it and no new quests appeared. I don't know if it was bugged for him or me, but it's strange.
After your post I decided to check for myself. Rerolled normal quest into event quest on EU. I also got a normal last night
Both EU and Asia currently have the "Happy New Year!" greetings emote. NA does not. I assume therefore that rerolling NA normal quest would not reroll to an event quest. Once the emote changes, then I would have thought it would be active.
I do find it weird that Asia got an event quest given with or without reroll, but EU only upon reroll despite being after Asia daily reset. I speculate that's a bug.
All generalizations are false.
FWIW I'm EU and I got a special event quest today. Not sure exactly when it got added but It wasn't there when I completed my daily quest after midnight and it was there when I logged in around 2 PM.
So, I just have to not play too many Battlecry minions before the event starts today so I can get max quest value!
I feel you. I'm stuck on 5/6 Mechs...
I don't have any of the new quests, but most of my friends do, (EU server), does this mean it starts a day later for me or did I miss it entirely?
My assumption is that this is like every other event on launch timing - so if you're NA server it will start at 09:00 PST (so 13:00 if you're on the east coast) like everything else does. Lazy Californians not getting up early...
I am also EU server, and my friends got the quests but I didn't. I assume the entire server gets it at the same time right? Blizzard seems to having a lot of errors lately :/
That's the infamous Hearthstone RNG so that it matches with the gameplay. Don't worry man, they'll come. Neither do I have new quest and I still haven't rerolled an old one to test.
Yeah looks like I'm in the same boat as Delko/Savron: It "should" be live in NA as of 15 mins ago (basically every HS event/update/news post happens at 09:00 PST) but doesn't appear to be - for me at least. Guess most of the Blizz team is off fighting the fires in what I've heard was an abysmally buggy launch of W3 Reforged?
It's getting harder and harder to ignore the effect that Activision has had on Blizzard..
Btw I didn't get a new quest but tried rerolling - got a new lunar quest. But somehow my other quest that I left for rerolling tomorrow got completed by. It was play 10 mana card while I didn't play any.
Ah I tried that and also got a lunar quest on reroll - so the final answer on the original question was NO, we did not get 2 quests today (a normal and a second once the event went live). We also didn’t appear to get any sort of notification the event was live which, you know, might have been a good idea?.......ah well thanks for weighing in everyone - teamwork makes the dream work
I got 2 special quests today, one new one, and one by re-rolling another "regular" quest. So strange it's this inconsistent ...
I got one event quest by rerolling my one open quest; then the next day (this morning at midnight) I got another one. So basically they "drop" both from rerolling existing and natural new daily quests. Did not try to re-roll 2 or 3 at a time.
