In an upcoming Hearthstone update, trigger animations are having their active times cut by 75%.
Thanks to the latest patch which introduced a similar change in Battlegrounds, Hadidjah confirmed on reddit this evening that these changes were also being added to the main game.

I'm pretty hyped about this, mainly because a lot of people have wanted things like this and that I think/hope is going to be a really really nice change to the game. But also because (as your title says) Battlegrounds paved the way for this change, and it's cool seeing a new game mode have these positive ripple effects across the rest of the game. :)
Not the last change we're looking to make in this vein by a long shot, but that's the upcoming, completed one.

This is a VERY welcome change. Though it is not a big thing, it is these little quality-of-life changes that matter the most.
It doesn't matter how balanced a game is, or how good the business model is. If the game does not run smoothly, and it is not fun to play, then it isn't a good game.

Now speed up the spell animations for about +20% and reduce the turn time to 60 seconds or even better down to 45 seconds and I will be even more happier. ^^
Yes! While I like all the little animations in Hearthstone, many of them are way too slow. Sometimes it's just a waste of time, like when Snake Trap triggers in Quest Hunter, but I've also had many times when I couldn't finish inputting all my moves before the turn ended because of animations.
It seems to just be "trigger" animations though, so everything that is a icon on the bottom of a minion.
True, but I hope that as more animations are sped up, the ones that are still slow are going to stand out and will be addressed as well. Also for new cards, they might make them quick from the start, just in case they will be included in Battlegrounds at some point.

If their active times is cut by 75%, speed is increased by 300%, not 75%
After playing Runeterra this was one of the things annoying me the most when coming back to Hearthstone. Excited about that change!
LOL! YGOPRO had it way shorter even before runeterra was conceived.
I didn't say that Runeterra introduced short animation times for triggers. It's just very obvious that HS has very slow trigger animation times (champions animations excluded) once you've played Runeterra.
