My Zoo is cuter than yours

Submitted 5 years, 6 months ago by

Hi guys,

I'm having lots of fun with my version of Zoo Priest. The Prest draw with Northshire Cleric and Bwonsamdi, the Dead is awesome with Magic Carpet and the other 1-Drops. Still trying to get to the ideal lineup, mainly with the 1-Drops and the buff opportunities. Any suggestions?

Greetings

Bwonsamdi, the Dead & Magic Carpet sounds like an interesting combo, but also sounds pretty slow for a zoo-archetype ...

Why so many one of 1 drops? seems way too inconsistent to me. If I was you, I would try to remake this deck, maybe consider some more consistent card draw/Cycle like Acolyte of Pain along with Surrender to Madness to give this deck an edge to not be outclassed by other tempo decks like mech Hunter and Zoolock

I played against a similar deck and it had Test Subject along with Inner Fire combo, maybe experiment with that? I agree that the deck runs out of steam pretty quickly, I'd consider putting in more draw.

Thank you for your feedback, guys!

    - Bwonsamdi is a bit slow but also much needed refill in later turns. As soon as I thought about cutting it, it saved my ass.

    - Spirit of the Dead would be inefficient, as most of the minions already cost 1 and I'd need even more draw power to get them back in my hand.

    - Acolyte of Pain will be tested, even if I don't love it without ways to trigger it consistently. Still seems like the best draw option. I'll cut Dead Ringer, which just doesn't do much, even as a mech.

    - Surrender to Madness sounds great in theory, but I played it in an earlier version and if felt super slow and awkward. After all, at first it's a "do nothing and lose two mana crystals" card! May test it again, but I'd like to buff my board rather than my deck. Which brings me to...

    - The Test Subject /Inner Fire engine: might work, needs quite a few slots, meaning that the deck would change substantially. I'll try.

    - Overall, it doesn't feel like it has too many one drops: they bring a lot of flexibility and mostly go up against other big boards of small minions (Lackeys in Rogue, tokens in Druid, unbuffed Mechs or beasts in Hunter). I also want to feed the Carpet interaction as much as possible. Hunter doesn't outclass me at all, I mostly have no problem shooting down all minions before they get too big. Zoolock... I haven't encountered in the last 50 games or so on the EU server...

    - I'll also try putting in good old Leeroy. Not the most original idea, but sometimes I miss that last bit of gas and he's all about that.

Just at first glance, its seems to me there's an awful lot of 1-ofs in the deck. I get that you can tutor for these with Bwonsamdi, but at that point, how often does it make a difference if you draw your tech one drops, Bloodsail Corsair or potion vendor?

I'd probably cut those for a second Abusive Sergeant and Argent Squire. The deck doesn't have comeback mechanisms other than magic carpet so you might as well lean in on taking the board on the first turns.

Sounds reasonable. Just switched the Corsair and the Doctor for the second Sergeant & Squire. The Potion Vendor on the other side is too nice with Cleric to draw multiple cards! Will report how it works ;)

BTW, also added Leeroy instead of Dead Ringer, first game after the change, Leeroy kill on turn 6 :D

Sounds like great fun (and maybe you get a Bloodlust :D ) but also for dead draw in a deck that already has difficulty coming back once behind. Still, I'll test it!

Test Subject could be worthwhile without Inner Fire, just as a way to farm Extra Arms and Power Word: Shield.

EVIL Conscripter might be useful as a bit of extra value generation. It's also a decent turn 2 play.

You could consider Archmage Vargoth and then replace Leeroy Jenkins by Mind Blast. On its own it's one damage less, but it's 3 mana cheaper as well, so it's easier to combine with buffs. Combined with Vargoth you have a 10 damage burst. And Vargoth is also good with Extra Arms or Power Word: Shield if you have a much wider board than your opponent (which should be the case with this deck).
