Very polarizing card. Don’t like it one bit.
So what happens if you summon this?
I'm guessing it goes dormant and will stay there till match is over, unless they made sure to not to be able to summon it Like they did with The Darkness.
Reason is simple, it is a battlecry effect like The Darkness, the conditions is only fullfilled when the battlecry effect has been made.
You will no longer be able summon/evolve this or Darkness
The one good match-up for Evolve Shaman will be this guy xd
Remember when a 4 mana 7/7 was strong and a meme at the same time? Well now it's 4 mana 12/12. Though that doesn't sound as good. (Yeh we got The Darkness too, but it was so bad most people don't mention it) Just killing 3 1/3 minions is easy in a more control focused deck. Yeh opponents can bounce or transform the tokens to prevent it from awakening, but late game because of it being 4 mana, it's easy to kill the tokens in the same turn. Also this is a SCARY minion when played in a ress priest deck. Save your Polymorph, Hex or Zephrys the Great for this card when playing against a ress priest!
Wouldn't it be resurrected Dormant with no way to awaken it?
yes it is. dormant it's status and no battlecry. Worst card for res. priest:D
honestly i think it would be awakened... But it could also be dormant.... I kinda forgot how this interaction worked with The Darkness as it would probably function the same. The only thing i do remember with The Darkness is that it was dormant when evolving into it (Happened a lot) but with resurrecting i dunno...
Well i guess if it does ress the not dormant 12/12 it will be a good card, but if it resses the dormant verson it will be a bad card. Time will probably tell i guess.
just play this alongside 3 damage AOE like Hellfire
What if you copy the Wardens? Like, imagine, for some Reason, your Opponent shuffles 10 of these into his Deck with Togwaggle's Scheme. Does that mean you also have to kill those? Could you Flik them?
The same thing as The Darkness. You have to kill 3 wardens to activate it. you just need to kill least 3 warden to awaken Magtheridon. Killing more wardens after awakening Magtheridon won't give an additional Magtheridon. The wardens have to be killed while their on the board to count. If someone uses Flik Skyshiv to destroy copies in the deck or hand, those copies won't count to awakening Magtheridon.
But Flik would only target them if they were already on the board, so it’s kind of a moot point. Unless the opponent has a way of “hiding” the original 3, their deaths by Flik would trigger the effect, copies or no copies.
With that in mind, I’m kind of more interested in the defensive responses to this. Opponent plays Magtheridon. Rogue Shadowsteps a Warden. Magtheridon sleeps forever. There’s also a kind of cool interaction where you could play Maiev to imprison a warden, thereby preventing its death temporarily.
I wonder if Magtheridon will awaken if you summon less than three Warders.
I think the answer is no: as you can see from the gameplay sample Blizzard provided us, the card has a visual effect that goes from 0/3 to 3/3 when its summoning condition is fulfilled.
I guess that if you summon less than three Wardens it won't probably wake up.
yeah, probably like The Darkness, if the opponent discards a candle, you re just doomed, same with magtheridon i guess.
If your opponent doesn't have 3 rooms on board, just don't play him. Transforming warders also make magtheridon stay dormant completely and your opponent will have only 6 rooms for the game.
The body perfectly suits the name of [Hearthstone Card (Maghteridon) Not Found] and also the card has great flavour.
Loved the concept + Art.
Don't know about gameplay tho.
This is how Youthful Brewmaster enters the meta as a tech card.
That's a pretty complicated version of Deathwing. I guess there's a few catches: you cannot really take advantage of killing the 1/3s efficiently with minions, and you're upset if your opponent Shadowsteps or evolves one of the Warders. Will be interesting if this actually finds a home of if in practice the hoops are too awkward to jump through to compensate for the initial 4-mana do nothing.
Evolve Shaman counters this pretty hard. That one instance aside, this looks very strong.
This could be insane if paired with Shadow Word: Horror in wild. You can clear the board and summon a 12/12 for 8 Mana and 2 cards
