Expansion announcement this week

Looking at the nerf patch date and the proximity to august, the new expansion WILL be announced before the 14 July patch that means either tomorrow or in 2 days cause they normally patch the game to put the pre-order bundle.

So any guesses/expectation what's the expansion is gonna be about?

hoping for an expansion about an old warcraft event  since I didn't play wow, TBH I didn't see any hint or something about the expansion.. looking at the nerfed cards we might see more impactful dragons, high cost rogue cards and strong warrior weapons.. but as a theme.. no clue apart from the article in the site.

It'll be on Tuesday, I'm pretty sure they've never made an announcement on a Monday.

I'm not a lore nerd so I honestly have no idea what it could be about. My expectation is that we get a LEGIT new mechanic that sticks around, maybe not as longer as discover has but hopefully not for just one expansion.

Also, don't think this entire year is dedicated to Outlands like some people, it just doesn't make sense in the realm of Hearthstone to stay in one general area for an entire year.

I just want to see what the new game mode is about.

I reckon it'll be Thursday at the earliest. I don't think blizz would have two significant events in the game (major nerfs and expansion reveal) hitting on the same date, as they would dilute one another's coverage. Could be wrong, though.

It's a subjective POV, but I feel stretching new exp announcement so late is... Too late. And players might get away from the grip of the game in the meanwhile.

AoO has already exhausted its traction, players need new stuff, even just some reveals to fantasize about, but we need new stuff.

Nerfs can refresh the meta a little bit, but the fact some nerfs are happening on the same classes over and over for the same reasons actually reinforce the impression of overwhelming staleness, instead of dispelling it.

I'm struggling to find motivation to get back to Wild D5 despite 10stars and the fact I absolutely enjoy my homebrew Aggro Reno Paladin.

Anyone else feeling the same?

The nerf announcement event is essentially over as far as news go

actually I prefer a late announcement and a quick reveal (like in the last expansions) vs early announcement and lot of wait (as in the past)

They still have about a month till the usual August launch, so they r well within their norm with the announcement, but yes, it should come pretty soon id imagine.

Btw, what is Aggro Reno Paladin? How, why?:D I need a decklist!

It's the deck in my signature. This is what happens when the meta is rigged towards Aggro, but you still wanna play Aggro yourself. :p

Looking forward to seeing announcement and some fancy cards next week. Hopefully on Tuesday (I think an announcement wouldn't overlap an already announced nerf patch).

i have bad news about this subject.

This article gives good in depth analysis of the teaser images.  Summary of their theories.

Next expansion: Seems likely to do with Void Elves as the banner around the teaser image gem matches banners on some of their tents.  Same color scheme and all.

Third expansion: We may finally be getting a Darkmoon Faire expansion this year.  They discuss it in the article and give side by side comparison, but the gem and gem border in the teaser image for expansion 3 of 2020 matches the Darkmoon Faire card back gem and gem border EXACTLY.  It also has a few other similarities.  While you could say it's just lazy reusing of old art... come on!  Blizzard may not be what they once were, but if they reused this art they had purpose and intent in doing so.

No, the message is clear. On the July 14th there will be a patch. Why is there a patch? Because (my speculation) Blizzard will announce the new expansion and will roll out the patch with the prepurchase card back and prepurchase rogue hero skin. 

And with this patch they sneaked out the balance changes.

Anyway It's exactly what Aifi said that's my logic + the usual early august expansion timing.. t6hat being said corona is a thing so it might get delayed..

I have my doubts about it happening tomorrow (14th) because they have not announced the announcement stream yet. Unless they do that today they are not going to just dump the information without telling people it is coming. Nerf patches often happen without much fuss, so that alone is not strong evidence.

As much as I'd love another rogue skin, there is also little to suggest it will be with the next pre-purchase. When they commented on this a couple of months back they said the character was decided on, but that "it likely won't be as soon as you want, sorry for that." To me that sounds like it is still some time away. I wouldn't be surprised if it will be Silas Darkmoon as the pre-purchase hero for the December expansion.

Of course I could be wrong on all of this, but to me the message is certainly not clear.

That's the bottom line - everything is speculation atm. I hope I'm proven wrong tomorrow and there is an announcement. I feel past patterns would suggest otherwise, but blizzard seem to have embraced breaking with tradition recently  - buffing cards, adding a new class, bringing cards back from wild. It's anybody's guess how / when the new reveal will be handled. Let's just hope it's  sooner rather than later.

The new expansion is garrisons in hearthstone, where you log in just for garrison rewards and then log out, classic outland.

Told you, they wanted to patch the preorder bundle :D
