This should be very useful for Thief Rogues with Spectral Cutlass, though I'm not clear on one part - with the card being dual-classed, does the warrior aspect also adds another durability to the weapon?
he looks kind of like Scott Summers in those red sunglasses doesnt he?
Maybe it's been updated since you posted this, but it does say "Whenever" and not "When".
Looking at the way it's balanced, I'd think it's "whenever", not a one-time effect. After all, it's not a Battlecry.
Good value card. Immediate trade + Weapon buff is pretty cool and Warrior has some really good weapons to utilize with this. I'm a little doubtful of this in Rogue though. They don't have too many good weapons to justify this and just buffing the Hero Power dagger doesn't look very good. Warrior gains a lot from this card but Rogue needs some better weapons to use this effectively.
very powerful combo ... Ooze and H.Jones have to be included as much as possible to counter him
I definitely won't mind dropping this card in packs.
However, for Aggro purposes, Captain Greenskin is still better, because Krastinov often risks to die in order to give you the buff, while as Aggro you actually want to face-tank to defend your minions.
Krastinov is better in Midrange.
I don't agree: Doctor Krastinov is better in Aggro decks too because it has direct impact on the board, something that Captain Greenskin lacks.
For example, you can play Krastinov, use it to remove a taunt and then go face with your buffed weapon.
The only scenario in which I see Greenskin better is when your opponent's board is empty, but that's not a very likely situation nowadays.
Beware: Captain Greenskin is still a playable card and will still see play, but Krastinov is almost always strictly better in today's Warrior and Rogue.
Not to mention that if it's turn 8+ you can drop Playmaker and then Doctor Krastinov to get two Krastinovs for trading into minions and getting +2/+2 to your weapon. Or if you are running a package with Risky Skipper and Bloodsworn Mercenary that's another way to combo two Krastinovs for double the weapon buffs.
Excited to get this off of Boggspine Knuckles :)
Its basically Captain Greenskin but better since it has rush and if this survives then that's another free swing. Has some synergies with Playmaker, but Bloodsworn Mercenary can usually do the same. Of course, if there's no enemies on board then this just suck if the weapon upgrade is the reason for playing this, and perhaps that's why greenskin will still hold on to the niche of upgrading weapons.
For rogue, well, get this off galakrond and your 5/2 weapon just became a monstrous 6/3. But there needs to be better weapons for rogue before this becomes a staple.
I won't be too unhappy to get this card off my packs, but if I don't, there's always greenskin.
This is interesting in both warrior and rogue... Buff a weapon while trading for 4 damage... Better than Captain Greenskin if your deck isn't pirate centric
The weapon you have active, i gess
Yes, it is the equipped weapon. If it wasn't it would specify giving the buff to a weapon in your hand or deck.
I feel they are taking a lot of the dual class cards too safely due to dual class cards being a semi-new mechanic. You're not playing this in wild and in standard it isn't exactly a great card.
What are you talking about, this is arguably a better Captain Greenskin, which has seen plenty of play recently and overall throughout its existence. Also, dropping this into likes of Playmaker, hehe :)
I do take the OP’s point, however, that the dual class choices have reflected the “safest” possible lowest common denominator between the two classes, rather than something that might push both classes towards a new or joint identity.
Rogue legendaries have traditionally had novel mechanics, even if they didn’t always work. This is the first expansion in a long while where I don’t feel compelled to insta-craft either of the available options.
Going the safe route...
Have you seen Lightning Bloom?!?!
There is still one more coming. The Dual Class Rogue/Mage hasn't been revealed yet.
Sinergy with Playmaker, for 8 mana 4/4 rush, 4/1 rush, 4/3, and two chances to buff your weapon
Rogue can bounce it back to his hand for some funny weapon buffs turns, particularly with the quest
Not bad, not super strong, but seems pretty fun
