Was Druid gaining any mana ramp to make up for the loss of Overgrowth? This may not be a substitute, but it could potentially double the amount of mana you can spend in one turn.
This looks pretty good. I guess almost any cheap Naga would be good to play, except for those "if you've cast a spell while holding this" Naga, unless you already played another spell beforehand. Preferably one that doesn't care about Naga.
Such a cool concept. Sadly the supposing cards are just so slow. Blizzard seemed to taxed this mechanic in mana cost. We'll see if that was warranted in the theory crafting stream.
Glad Brann is back or this wouldn't be impacted enough. Since he is here I think this has some potential.
Wish it said "all curses". That way it could play with past and future curse cards. This being self contained its really mini set or bust. That's a shame as it's a fun idea.
That makes no difference. The amount of XP you need to reach the levels to get higher XP bonuses is the same regardless of where it comes from, and hence the amount multiplied by 1.1, 1.15 and 1.2 is the same. If you reach the levels where you get 50g for every 1500XP, all you end up doing in the long run is shifting some XP from the end of 1 rewards track to another.
You do change how quickly you get rewards in the first 100 levels - albeit only slightly - but in the end you have the exact same stuff and the same amount of gold.
This and Zaq'ul are the 2 legendaries this set in my "probably not good but I'm gonna craft them anyway" pile.
This just looks hilarious. I enjoyed Tickatus when he first came out too. He ended up being a bit too easy to copy/corrupt. Hooktusk seems slower but it is "summon" so maybe that Azsharan sunken spell will actually help.
Either way looking forward to plundering my opponents in the future.
Maybe there's a Mech Hand Buff Paladin that uses this guy along with Prismatic Jewel Kit? It seems possible and will definitely try it out coz I love the mechanical lobster art.
All future naga decks will 100% want to run this minion. And the fact that the mana discount persists across multiple turns makes it even more desirable.
This is definitely balanced at 2 mana, would've been broken at 1. Mech Mage and Paladin will definitely want to utilize this neutral minion. As long as mech archetypes are good in standard, this will see play.
The only guy who was supporting arena left the team, so yeah it is in a rough spot... (I am not even joking, that is exactly what Iksar said)
But i'm not asking for magic to happen. Just banning some stuff to prevent stupid interactions and such. But i guess they didn't care because the sets also changed and they have yet another reason to "wait and analyze data" (i.e. sit on their asses. Not that they are able to do anything even remotely meaningful it seems (without the guy that left).
And considering that each expansion brings in even more powercreeping... it's gonna be sad.
Zero mana dredge cards are crazy strong. Druid got the better one as it can (conditionally) draw but this is very close. Especially Ina Reno/highlander style deck being able to set up your turns in advance will be very strong.
Lack of Mech tag sucks, though. It also doesn't make a lot of sense, since it looks a lot like The Curator.
You are right. Weird this isn't a mech. Has similar bodies to The Curator (who is) and Arcane Golem (who isnt) a mech. I am sure it's something to do with magic vs mechanical construction. However it looks like the same mistake they did with witchwood Grizzly not being a beast. That set wanted more beasts, this set cares about mechs, seems like a miss.
Side note I've never seen a golden Curator before. Looks sick.
While it's fun to imagine getting this guy big in the end game I don't think that's his strength.
This with the coin is just a strong early play. The new 0 mana spell too can help when off coin. This is a strong early body to stick around for buffs or to trigger "if you played a naga" spells.
Standard: Lyra the Sunshard will love this card, because it's 0 mana generate a card + tutor your next draw and mana cheat. Also it synergizes well with Sunken Ritual. So i feel like silence priest will also run this.
In wild... NOOOOOOOOOOOO. This will be a strong option for BIG Priests cuz they can discount a lot of their big spells such as Shadow Essence and of course tutor their draw. To me this seems also good in a lot of other priest decks.
Seems good in a silence priest deck, or in Shadow priest as some kind of Fireball bursty way of doubling damage. This seems really good even outside of silence priest decks. Thank YOGG it doesn't work with Bless, because the damage comes AFTER the silence. This will see plenty of play i bet.
Also i love it's flavor text! (For those wondering it's: "And in the darkest of depths, the sailor heard a command from inside his own mind? You will also buff my original card to 9 Mana.")
But i do want to take one quick moment to kinda complain about something that is... lacking in this set. N'zoth. Whispers of the Deep is the only N'zoth card in the set, despite N'zoth being the one that created the Naga race AND we saw Fish of N'Zoth in the expansion trailer. Also it's a shame N'Zoth, God of the Deep isn't in the core set. They kept Barrens Stablehand in the core set cuz barrens was the next expansion, but the creator of the Naga's AND "God of the deep" wasn't good enough for a underwater expansion? I really hope the mini-set will make up for this, otherwise that would be very dissapointing i.m.o.
New Druid Minion - Green-Thumb Gardener
Was Druid gaining any mana ramp to make up for the loss of Overgrowth? This may not be a substitute, but it could potentially double the amount of mana you can spend in one turn.
New Druid Spell - Seaweed Strike
This looks pretty good. I guess almost any cheap Naga would be good to play, except for those "if you've cast a spell while holding this" Naga, unless you already played another spell beforehand. Preferably one that doesn't care about Naga.
New Warlock Minion - Za'qul
Such a cool concept. Sadly the supposing cards are just so slow. Blizzard seemed to taxed this mechanic in mana cost. We'll see if that was warranted in the theory crafting stream.

New Neutral Minion - Murkwater Scribe
All future naga decks will 100% want to run this minion. And the fact that the mana discount persists across multiple turns makes it even more desirable.
New Demon Hunter Weapon - Bone Glaive
Only dredge card for DH. Guess this or one of the neutrals goes with Azsharan Defector.
New Neutral Minion - Security Automaton
This is definitely balanced at 2 mana, would've been broken at 1. Mech Mage and Paladin will definitely want to utilize this neutral minion. As long as mech archetypes are good in standard, this will see play.

New Demon Hunter Spell - Predation
Dealing 3 damage for 0 mana is certainly good, but I have no idea how good Naga in a DH deck will be.
New Neutral Minion - Rainbow Glowscale
A generic spell damage minion with the naga tribe. Will definitely see play considering the bunch of spell damage minions rotating
New Priest Spell - Illuminate
Zero mana dredge cards are crazy strong. Druid got the better one as it can (conditionally) draw but this is very close. Especially Ina Reno/highlander style deck being able to set up your turns in advance will be very strong.

Achievement XP is trivial compared to quest XP, so no, it's not a fallacy. You want the bigger bonus to apply to quest XP as soon as possible.
Blood Magic
I'd be fine never seeing this brawl again.
New Neutral Minion - Azsharan Sentinel
You are right. Weird this isn't a mech. Has similar bodies to The Curator (who is) and Arcane Golem (who isnt) a mech. I am sure it's something to do with magic vs mechanical construction. However it looks like the same mistake they did with witchwood Grizzly not being a beast. That set wanted more beasts, this set cares about mechs, seems like a miss.

New Neutral Minion - Reefwalker
Might see play if the Piranha Swarmer archetype actually takes off. Or maybe Shaman can build an Elemental/ Piranha Swarmer deck... nah...
New Neutral Minion - Seascout Operator
Mechafish how cute. Maybe a more tempo orientated mech mage will like this in conjunction with Mecha-Shark. How poetic
New Neutral Minion - Treasure Guard
Simple and decent taunt + draw but doubt anyone is really adding this to their constructed deck. Great arena card though
New Neutral Minion - Pufferfist
Pirate Rogue and Warrior are both gonna love this continuous board clear. Will probably see play in both classes for a long time.
New Priest Minion - Queensguard
Lyra the Sunshard + Radiant Elemental chain into Priestess Valishj + Queensguard seems really strong. This has quite a bit of potential, and if priest gets any other kind of mana cheat in mini sets or future expansions Queensguard will become very powerfull.
