Its going to be played simply because its the only thing druid has for a draw engine so far down the reveals. If there's nothing else, then they really are just clutching at straws, praying that the core set gives them either Wrath or Nourish because the alternative is this card, or a guff on curve.
Its practically like Overflow, a card that's only there because there's little else druid has for card draw. The fact that this can generate a decent taunt minion is a nice bonus, but will never be why druids would play this card, considering that Scale of Onyxia is the better defensive option available.
Its really just a different Exotic Mountseller, and that's putting it charitably. The problem is that unless you're running massive spells, this card would likely end up giving you 0-2 drops most of the time, and even then it might be of sub par quality because there's really not many rush minions on those range of minions. Not to mention that Animated Broomstick is now gone, so if this does not generate either a taunt or a rush minion its pretty much a waste of time. Better off playing Deviate Dreadfang, if Im being honest.
But Ive a feeling that druids' theme this time round would be big spells, which would account for why they thought this card could succeed. And it actually might. Even a simple 7-8 cost spell is more than enough to power up this bad girl. The drawbacks may only be a small footnote, depending of course if druid gets more big spell support.
I think this is pretty strong because it impacts the board and creates hand advantage. If Druid continues to ramp next year, this will be a back breaking play from them.
It really costs way too much, but druids may not really have much of a choice, given that most of their draw power are rotating. Which also brings us to another problem, which is that druids' draw power are rotating, so how big of a taunt are we really expecting?
It kinda reminds me a little of Overflow, in that its not really that great of a card but because druids then really struggle with card draw it was played anyway. This one at least will put out a decent taunt minion, and we are all acquainted with druids playing well above what they should, so a 6/6 on turn 4-5 while drawing 3 is still a decent pay off for throwing your entire hand for ramp at the start of the game.

Ok, so I'm playing through the new bounties that just dropped, and I noticed something funny: the SI:7 dudes are all labeled "Human" even though, looking at the art, one of them is obviously a Night Elf and one is either a Gnome or Dwarf. That, plus Gruul still has no label, despite the fact that he's a Gronn. Just seems lazy to me. I wish they'd focus on fixing the game as is (like the coin issue) instead of adding all this new content so quickly.
Thank you all for sharing your personal stories and great advice. I truly appreciate all your positive feedback.
Starting today, my goal is to cut back on my daily time spent on this wonderful community site which unfortunately also means having less interactions with you nice people. For sure, I will stop posting my complaints about the ongoing state of the game since it was getting repetitive and did not serve any meaningful purpose anyways. I was just venting my frustrations over and over again for which I have concluded was actually trapping me inside a negative downwards spiral. Thus, I will return to my personal mantra of "If what you are about to say is negative, keep it to yourself instead."
As for actually playing Hearthstone, I will keep my focus on the parts I still enjoy (as long as it lasts) like completing quests, achievements and attempting to reach Legend every now and then.
Good luck to you all and have lots of fun, cheers! 👋
Another question -- if you have multiple Gigafins and one Maw, I assume killing the Maw clears the devoured minions for all Gigafins? Example:
Archie is playing against Betty. Betty has a single River Crocolisk on the board.
Archie plays Gigafin, which eats the Crocolisk.
Archie duplicates the Gigafin with some spell. Archie now has two Gigafins (each of which has "Deathrattle: summon that River Crocolisk for Betty") and one Maw.
Betty kills the Maw.
...so... when the Maw is killed, does that clear both Gigafins, or only the original one (the one that created the Maw)?
This might apply to more of the Colossal cards, actually -- are their "extra parts" linked somehow to the original, or do they apply to all copies on the board?
My guess is, when the minion is "devoured" it counts as killed (deathrattles trigger, it goes in the rez pool), but I'm not sure. Definitely want to see confirmation on that.
I think the Maw's deathrattle is just "change Gigafin's deathrattle from resummon the devoured minions to don't do nuthin'", so killing the Maw (or triggering its DR early) doesn't have any effect on the rez pool, one wy or the other.
...yes, or silence the Maw. And if you kill both Gigafin and its Maw with a single AOE, presumably Gigafin's "return the minions" deathrattle triggers before the Maw's "destroy the devoured minions" DR. (Deathrattles trigger in the order that the minions were summoned, so Gigafin's goes off first.)
Do we know what happens to the minions it "devours"? That is, are they killed (and then resummoned by Gigafin's deathrattle), or are they somehow "stored", and returned as they were?
Specific Qs:
When a minion is "devoured", does its deathrattle activate? Does it go in the resurrect pool?
If not, then presumably if Gigafin's deathrattle never triggers (because you killed the Maw, or you silenced Gigafin), the "devoured" minions are just gone -- no deathrattle, not in the rez pool. *poof*
When the minion is returned, does it keep its old stats (enchantments, damage, etc.), or is it a fresh new copy?
The question to ask is whether the minions summoned would come down in the order of the spell's cost. If yes, then this card has the potential of being screwed by druid's tons of cheap spells clogging the pool.
And that's about the problem with the card in general; druid simply plays too many cheap spells. So if its in your hand on turn 1, chances are it'll summon a board full of 0-2 drops, something that most decks should easily be able to deal with or completely ignore.
Nevertheless, its a good card that floods the board, and if druid has some kind of finisher like Arbor Up in the next expansion, then there might yet be room even if this does nothing but summon a board of wisps.
Looks like the thing for Naga is holding them in hand while casting spells to gain an effect, and spells that gain an effect if you played a Naga while it was in hand.

most of those aren't minions, my dude. and those that are (other than varian) are generally cheated out, not played as 8-drops. good effort, though!

Varian, King of Stormwind, Cenarion Ward, Bru'kan of the Elements, Mo'arg Forgefiend, Xyrella, the Devout, Abominable Lieutenant, Rune of the Archmage, and Shadowcrafter Scabbs are all seeing play right now and don't necessarily win you the game when played.
