  • Anyone else looking forward to Diablo II: Resurrected?

Just curious to see if anyone else is looking forward to this. Other than Hearthstone, Diablo II is the only game I ever played in my adult life - an impulse buy for the first pc I ever owned that turned into an addictive, immersive gameplay experience. I have a lot of good memories of triggering multiple corpse explosions with my bonemancer. I never buy games, but seriously contemplating picking up a copy of this when it comes out so I can relive those memories :)

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

A bit too long this time tbh.

You can't stay for 2 weeks with a clearly broken meta.

  • Please no video ads for mobile

MurphysLaw, I find that enabling desktop site when on mobile really helps. You still get the ads but they're much less intrusive.

Also, I find the site much easier to navigate when using the desktop site.

  • Autoconceeding.

At that point its more likely you just need a break. Even with how toxic standard is atm,  there aren't any entirely unwinnable match ups. The waste of time argument makes no sense either since auto conceding hurts your rank and your xp is based on match length. It's basically a lose lose for the auto conceding player no matter how you slice it. If your time is too valuable to spend it in a lost game then why isn't more valuable than a winning one?  It's really silly logic.

  • Mage and Paladin are Dominating Hearthstone's Forged in the Barrens Meta With Over 50% of Decks Played

Just have a look at Paladin on hsreplay. Go to the part where it lists classes by winrate, click on Paladin.

Try to find ANY list that is below 50% winrate among the named archetypes.

Actually, I'll just save you the trouble. There aren't any - and the vast majority of ALL paladin decks right now are 60+% winrate. You have to go all the way to page 5 out of 6 before you get to a list that is less than 60% winrate.

I'm fairly sure this is unprecedented - a single class with 5 different named archetypes that are all successful ... it's almost like you can just open Paladin in your deck builder, throw in any 30 cards that are good, and win games (yes this is obviously exaggerating ... but by a LOT less than it should be).

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

It's not just control it screws over. Any midrange/value deck gets shafted too because warlock's removal is so strong, meaning it requires a grind before you can exhaust all the removal and finally finish them off. It's not helped that they get up to 32 extra health just from soul fragments, plus the Armor Vendors and Drain Souls. So if you aren't super quick at killing them you have to bring down something like 70+ health. That's really tough to do without needing the last 10 cards your the deck if you aren't really aggressive.

(Yes, I know they hurt themselves, so 70+ is an overestimate. It's still too much to deal with quickly once they're done with tapping though.)

Combo is in a weird spot where it is fine if it draws quickly enough, but is completely screwed otherwise. So Tickatus is really only useless against aggro, which is just what we needed at the end of a year that had already been dominated by aggro...

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

If you can't win without Tickatus, you deserve to have it stolen.

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

Stealth rogue is actually still viable, and is perhaps one of the few decks that doesn't really use any barrens cards. The probable hit to Pen Flinger may be enough to stop this, but I think once paladin gets nerfed and lunacy mage is gone, it'll make a comeback. We've seen team5 preemptively nerf cards before, so its just my prediction that they might look into cards like Self-Sharpening Sword at least.

I've not really read any posts saying that jandice and octobot would definitely be on the ropes for nerfs. It would surprise me if octobot is nerfed, given that its a fundamental card carrying the new rogue archetype, of which without we will definitely be seeing more weapon/stealth rogue.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

Not sure who the "you" is in your message, but when the developers talk about what's not fun, they actually have some specific criteria in mind. It's not just "I lost a game because of X." Some examples:

    • Decks that allow one player to take a lot more actions than the opponent
    • Decks that play "solitaire" Hearthstone, not giving the opponent any opportunity to counter the win condition
    • Decks that destroy win conditions with no possible play-around (e.g., Tickatus)

If you think about it, you can see how these are all similar, but not completely identical. Getting a handle on those similarities will give you a better understanding of what people mean when they say "unfun." It has to do with interactivity, the feeling that both sides are playing the game, and the feeling that there's at least some chance of winning.

On the other hand, a Priest outhealing aggro has all kinds of interaction and opportunity on both sides. The aggro player may face an uphill battle, but at least you're playing a game that can be won.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

Agreeing partialy with fang here. There are a lot of things in this game I like and do not like. But it is amazingly arrogant of people to think they are the sole arbiters of what is fun and healthy. There are people out there that hate your favorite decks with a passion. But that doesn't always mean it should get nerfed.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

I agree with the comment about priest being strong. I've had so many matches where they generate ridiculous card advantage and boards out of nowhere. Blade master is essentially a reno Jackson that clears the board. The class feels like it could be very oppressive. Ironic given the complaints about the single hard counter the class has. Pardon me if I don't have pity for burning 10 cards in your deck while you are busy spamming 10+ randomly generated cards that didn't even start there. 🙄

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

I watched GM, and I'm not really seeing any game breaking bugs to be honest. A few examples would be nice, maybe its the youtube drops bs that's still hanging in my mind so I missed it.

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

You think they'll nerf Stealth Rogue when Watch Post Rogue is nearly five times as popular? That doesn't make any sense if the goal is to diversify the meta. Jandice and Octo-bot are the cards they've said they are looking at.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

I think it's unfun every time I match up with priest but hey that's fine because priest players get joy in out healing my aggression. There are two side to every match, people rarely play decks they don't enjoy which means a lot of people enjoy tickatus, myself included. If they go around taking things out of the game based on what people don't like, they will gut their player base with it. This is not a single player game and people need to seriously get over themselves. Stop thinking you are the arbiters of what is fun and healthy. You are not.

  • Runeterra's Community is Divided Over If Enemy Decklists Should Be Public Knowledge

    Quote From FenrirWulf

I feel like what duckling did and what runeterra.ar did are two completely different things. What he did was a post-match review and remembering what to watch out for. What runeterra.ar does is give you the review during a match. The difference is like reading your notes after an exam and reading your notes during your exam, so I'm not exactly sure what the point of comparing the two is.

    I completely agree with this.

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

This isn't aimed at the development as such as I'm sure they are flat out, low on resources etc but this is far too slow. You've had this amazing expansion, filled with promise around a new core set and classic mode etc to entice players back and get people hyped for a new era of Hearthstone and its been ruined by two classes being, not just slightly OP, but completely and utterly dominating the whole game.

Can you imagine being a returning player and walking into this cluster **** right now? On top of the incredible balancing issues there are glaring game breaking bugs. Blizzard used to be a sure sign of quality but that was years ago now and this expansion is just the icing on the poor quality control cake.

Look at the line ups and bugs present in GM this weekend. It's not a good look.

Again I am not aiming this rant at the devs, they appear to put their heart into the game but Blizzard as a company are shadow of their forma selves and clearly are not allowing enough time for play testing or QA.

  • Fiora.

If I had to take a guess, I don't think anyone is torn up over the Fiora nerf.

Though I will say, I don't think I've seen any Fiora decks on ladder since the nerf patch. I HAVE seen her in best-of-three gauntlet decks though. My favorite decks happen to be pretty weak to Fiora, so I'm immeasurably relieved that she is no longer terrorizing the ladder. She was way too strong.

I checked mobalytics just before the nerf, and the top 4 champions for overall winrate were: 1. Shen, 2. Draven, 3. Fiora, 4. Fizz. Twisted Fate was way down at 14 because people were meme-ing with him a ton (like playing him in decks with Concurrent Timelines for some inexplicable reason) and also playing him in inferior decks like Go Hard. So, his winrate was being dragged down by the sub-optimal decks. Fizz had no such problem, so he's the real measure of the power level of the old TF/Fizz deck.

Anyways, yeah, Fiora/Shen and TF/Fizz were absolutely the correct targets for the nerf bat. Riot got it exactly correct. Fiora is not supposed to be a top-of-the-meta champion. Her gameplay is just too toxic to be so dominant. Almost no champ feels worse to lose to. And I'd say probably at least half of my losses to Fiora would be a situation where I'm open attacking with unstoppable lethal, still have like 15+ health, but Fiora is on 3/4 and she has a single combat or concerted strike. *Braumwave*

    So. Toxic.

  • Issue with "Play 10 ___ Spells" quests.

TriMay, I suppose that might be possible but I didn't concede so it's not what happened in my case.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

    Staff Pro

Achievement points are not a currency and never will be. They are simply an indication of how many achievements someone has earned. The reason why these systems use point values instead of a simple 'completed x achievements' is because some are harder than others so harder achievements will typically reward one with more points.

Think of them like a high score on an arcade cabinet. Useless outside of bragging rights.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

Was anyone really arguing that Tickitus wins games? Or had a high winrate? Tickitus wins control matches for sure, everything else its a useless card.

I think its just unfun, to go into a slower game knowing that 5 to 10 cards are going to be milled is a terrible gameplay mechanic.

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #13 - Tickatus, Balance Patches, Curse of Naxxramas in Classic, User-Generated Content, and More!

Have anyone already asked if we'll be able to spend achievement points?

If Tickatus gets nerfed to costing 7 or 8, then at least nerf Mindrender Illucia to cost 4 so that priests won't be able to steal our Tickatus anymore.

  • Hearthstone's First Forged in the Barrens Balance Patch to "Probably" be Detailed on Monday or Tuesday

Thanks for clarifying. But I think team5 does try to avoid complicating the esports scenes whenever they can, but with how the scheduling works, its understandably unavoidable at times.

  • Fiora.

I had her in a deck she didn’t belong in before the nerf and got wins with her because of her health pool while not really having the cards to protect her.

I took her out when they lowered her health to 2 just didn’t feel I could keep her alive without building around her. I feel that is how it should be. Any Fiora mains floating around here?

I was curious how they felt after the balance patch?

she doesn’t t worry me because I run 3 hush and a moonlight for good measure
