Shurima is really strong, no doubt. It has the tools to compete. I think however that the new Shurima cards got intentionally released stronger to make shurima -which has only half the cards of any other region- playable. If they nerf the overtuned 1 drops later on and push back when the number of shurima cards gets more I am fine with that approach because unlike targon, shurima is not a toxic control region.

This is probably exactly right, and exactly why they were dumb to set up their new regions/expansions like this. Without a full set of cards up front, they're forced to overcompensate. (I also don't really get the whole "some regions get expansions first" thing, but oh well.)

Glad to see that I am not the only one thinking this, I really don't like this idea of dividing the expansion into three sets.

These new cards wow just wow. I know you gotta sell stuff but last time I read you guys were the most profitable gaming company out there and I didn’t even mind giving you my money to buy unnecessary cosmetics.
This new region seems very overtuned like their cards are just straight up better than what has previously been released.

Anyone else getting this feeling? Adding another Deny just pushes expensive slow spells to another level of irrelevance. I don’t have a single one in any of my decks. I am tempted to remove all fast spells as well.

It's too early to evaluate how strong the region is, I remember when Targon was just released, we had many player saying that dragons and invokes were just too powerful or that Taric was a better Shen, then a couple of weeks later it turn out that the meta decks from before the expansion were still the best, and only deck from Targon who managed to be top tier was Trundle/A.Sol

Personally I have been using a Fiora/Shen deck on ladder and it's working just fine.

Yeah, I read Iksar's comments wrongly. I still can't agree with his assessment though. That medium power neutral 1-2 drop already exist in the form of Spirit Jailer and Flame Imp, as well as Darkglare, which incidentally even after the nerf is still a must kill 2 drop. Zoolock is very strong, but hardly game breaking, and the real power of that deck comes in the form of Flesh Giants and the Kanrethad vomit combo on turn 2 anyway. Fact of the matter is, zoo has been relying less and less on hp compared to its earlier iterations, and since most burn cards like Soulfire or Leeroy are properly purged from standard, I can't see what he's seeing.

As for my idea of a 1/2 stealth, recover 1-2 health every turn, beast. Well, Ive never truly been a fan of this 'class identity' stuff myself, and defensive options means hunter can explore something other than aggro all day long. Unlike rogue, hunter aren't as good at controlling tempo so I think its only appropriate that they get some kind of healing option. Its not like its going to break the meta anyway, hunters simply can't control board as well as other classes can.

I mean paid closed invite only beta vs free to play open for public scenario. One does not need a degree to see why would there be a difference in the active players 😂 Still so weird how they portrayed their reasons for abandoning development.

It was released as 1/3 | 1 enegry if memory serves and later buffed to 1/4 | 2 energy. Looks like they decided that buff was too strong.

I don't think Shurima is overtuned, and it is way too early to make such statements. Bad things tend to be good early after a new expansion because other lists hasn't been refined yet.

I just looked at the master ladder, for my region, and I can see that none of them plays with Shurima. 2x TF/Fizz, 1x Lucian/MF and 1x Freljord Fiora. Another guy posted a similar thing on Reddit where the master ladder, for his region, was 3x TF/Fizz and 1x Fiora/Shen. I am also pretty sure a lot of the Shurima lists struggle against burn decks due to the lack of healing.

What can you even nerf on tf?

    That's the big question, right?

I'd probably try changing Pick A Card from Draw 3 Fleeting to Draw 2 Fleeting. I think Draw 8 -> TF L2 is generally a fair risk -> reward proposition, it's just that certain highly optimized decks have made it way to easy to "pop off" and flip TF too quickly. I don't really like the idea of directly nerfing TF, as that would probably kill using TF outside of those optimized decks.

I think tf is too strong baseline too, many decks don't even level him.

Think they will ezreal him and lower the impact of his lvl 2.

Yeah, it's difficult to tell what's just Internet hype searching out a new card game, although OutOf.Cards effectively solved that issue for me. If I'm going to get into a new card game, it will be because of this site.

  • RubinZoo Teases Upcoming Nerfs to Runeterra's Twisted Fate

Can't, blue card in league gives mana.

    And draw is also crucial.

You can't change neither blue or red cards, they would lose too much of tf's identity.

Both our database and MythgardHub's (which is what they used for the Discord bot) have it as a 1/3 with 1 Energy. It's fixed now.

    1. Hunters can't heal or clear boards. And incidentally they can't draw cards neither. Now that most of the aggro cards from hunter will be purged from standard, its really time for hunter to actually be able to draw/generate cards. Then we'll start seeing some variety.

I also don't understand what's so difficult for them to just make a few conditional healing options for hunter, like maybe 2 mana 1/2 stealth beast that heals face for 1 at the end of the turn. Hell, you can make that heal for 2 and it still wouldn't be oppressive.

It sounds like they're more open to giving every class OK draw from now on. As for your healing beast suggestion, I'm not sure giving that stealth is a good idea. Opposing control decks wouldn't care of course, but getting a ~free 1 or 2 health back every turn is really strong against aggro and over the course of a game would outclass healing from classes that are meant to be good at it.

    3. Maybe this is just me, but I don't find life tap at all oppressive that it restricts card design. Draw 1 for 2 health. Warlock tends to have better draw cards than other classes, and since Mountain Giant is gone, where does this 'domination' come along? Touching on that point, what other card can possible top mountain giant on 4 as that dominating medium-powered neutral drop anyway? and we've been dealing with that for 6 years. I don't particularly remember warlock being on tier 1 every meta mountain giant was in standard.

Iksar was really talking about zoo decks here since he said "medium power Neutral 1-2 drop". So Mountain Giant doesn't have much to do with it.

I'm not sure if you play Hearthstone, but this happened when we got new class - the Demon Hunter got extremely strong cards which required more nerfs than nine other classes combined (including nerf in few days after release) and is still a very strong class which can do what every other class do but better. The devs wanted to have good feeling from the new class and to be it competetive.

If this is the road to take when releasing new regions - oh boy!

"The idea of Book of Heroes will be expanded beyond the 10 core characters."

I like it, maybe we will get Tyrande, Maiev and Arthas eventually in BoH and get new skins for them as well? Overall i see this as a big win, BoH are pretty fun and an interesting way to learn about characters lore.

"Any class that was draw restricted will see more card draw." Okay so classes that were quite restricted in draw: Hunter, Priest, Shaman & Paladin. Hunter is amazing, because that's mainly what held back most non-aggro hunter decks. It was way too hard to draw a combo piece in hunter. Priest is REALLY interesting, because the one thing Tempo priest AND Silence Priest always lacked was card draw, so if they get good draw it probably becomes a really strong deck. Paladin is arguable, but they don't have that much draw overall. (Hand of A'dal excluded.) So if Paladin gets more draw, the decks that benefits from that the most will be Dude paladin. (Which already seemed scary) Shaman lost a lot of draw, (mainly because quest rotates & Novice Engineer isn't in core) and i'm happy to hear that they get some new draw. Let's just hope it isn't too strong of a draw, otherwise Evolve Shaman might come back stronger then ever. (Mainly because evolve effects are a lot stronger now, because of the smaller Core card pool)

  • New Neutral Minion - Shadow Hunter Vol'jin

combo breaker + combo starter + sap wtih a body seems like a good card for every ctrl decks. But it seems blizzard is trying decrease the number of OTK decks so depending on the meta a good card
