  • New Rogue Minion - Vanessa VanCleef

I really like her effect, it's a nice spin on Burgle Rogue and she has premium 2 drop stats. Glad to see that Vanessa VanCleef replaces her dad Edwin VanCleef in standard, but i also still hope they bring back Tess Greymane in the core set. :)

Vanessa VanCleef will probably see play in combo/burgle rogue decks and maybe midrange/control or combo rogue decks that would love to copy an opponents board clear. Vanessa VanCleef seems really flexible and i like it.

They have a new watermark on Blizzard's images. I guess that Out of Cards just didn't have time yet to add the new watermark to their card renderer.

  • New Priest Spell - Thrive in the Shadows

So it's a reprint of Cleric of Scales without the dragon requirement. Seems pretty good, as it helps tutor a spell that you need AND it is now a lot more flexible now that you don't need a dragon to get this effect.

In standard this will surely see play in control priest decks, and in C'Thun, the Shattered priest decks to tutor the C'thun pieces.

In wild it won't see play, because Shadow Visions is better in almost every way, shape and form.

  • New Neutral Minion - Peon

Okay i love this kinda card. It generates something random, but you gotta work for it instead of getting it immediatly. Also it gives a random spell from your class, so it's ACTUALLY random. As someone who loves GENUINE random i love this kinda card, because it can actually give bad cards instead of the "fixed random" we saw last few HS years where "random" is almost always good.

Honestly I'm mostly just miffed about them ruining the 4 elements theme of the totems...unless the new buffing totem is distinctly wind-flavored

  • New Neutral Minion - Razormane Raider

Seems like a worse/neutral [Hearthstone Card (Imprisoned Fellmaw) Not Found]. Oh and in this case it's a worse version of Rush. Seems only good for arena, and that's it i think. Unless they print some insane Frenzy synergy card.

  • Thrive in the Shadows

So I assume this works like the Dragon Cultist from Galakrond'S awakening? So it's actual draw for Priest

  • New Neutral Minion - Razormane Raider

    Quote From Caro

Battlegrounds minion in constructed? 😱This will technically keep attacking till it's dead or until no more enemy minions on board, much like Deathwing, Mad Aspect

Actually Frenzy only triggers the first time it takes damage and survives, so its luckely not so bad

  • New Neutral Minion - Spirit Healer

Hmm, not sold on this card but on the otherside it has premium 4 drop stats and an effect on top of that. Guess we will need to wait and see what other Holy tag cards get printed. Also it already fits.. decently? in  some kind of Inner Fire priest.

My guess is that most holy tag spells will be in Priest and Paladin though... WAIT A SECOND... IF Libram of Wisdom becomes a Holy tag card, then that's some free stats, seems kinda decent.

  • BlizzConline's Hearthstone Year of the Gryphon Deep Dive Panel Live Recap - More New Cards

Thanks. It's would then be interesting to see what would happen with them after the rotation. The only solution I see in that case is those cards would be free for everyone to use in Wild, as removing them would be strange.

Putting them in Classic packs like those replacement for HoF cards still seems more logical to me, especially since they will return HoF-ed ones to packs too, so the set already expanded.

Anyways, yeah, it was just a couple of packs, didn't even get the legendary in them.

  • New Neutral Minion - Overlord Runthak

Handbuffing is cute and all, but a 3/6 rusher is far from great. Should have been swapped because I fail to see how this would ever live for more than a turn.

  • New Druid Minion - Druid of the Plains

    Quote From Brandon

Great card. Druid needed some HARD removal, even though hard removal is something that supposed to be druids weakness. It's also a beast, so it can get ressurected by N'Zoth, God of the Deep. Druid of the Plains kinda reminds me of Siamat, it's great removal and pretty flexible. (For multiple druid decks.)

This is not hard removal like for example Naturalize was: if you're facing Deathwing, this is useless. This is soft removal, for very unsubtle values of "soft" ;)

  • New Neutral Minion - Mankrik

Interesting card and effect. Never played a lot of WoW (Only the free stuff, and mostly alliance races.) but from what i heard its a meme so seeing it make it into HS is pretty fun. Mankrik has some premium 3 drop stats, and for those wondering what the battlecry does: It shuffles Mankriks wife into your deck which is a Cast when drawn spell, which summons a 3/10 Mankrik that immedialty charges the opponents FACE. So that's a pretty good effect when you find his wife. Also a 10 health minion is quite scary in priest if Inner Fire is a core set card.

Mankrik seems like a good card, BUT it there are several things that are quite bad about him... First of all he has little to no impact when played, which is bad considering immediate impact on the board is something that's important these days (like Rush). And second of all drawing/finding Mankriks wife can take a LONG time depending on your draw. (Same reason Bomb warrior in RoS/Uldum was quite.. unreliable because of the Bomb drawing RNG of your opponent)

However i feel like there will be some meme decks with Mankrik, specificly in wild with shaman. Mankrik alongside double battlecries, bounsing him back into your hand and playing him again might be a fun combo, and add Shudderwock alongside that. That sounds really fun to find a lot of Mankriks wifes. lol. Oh and also i think that some Highlander decks might include him in wild.

Edit: Inner Fire is not in the core set, so that makes Mankrik worse in priest, but there still pushing tempo priest is might still see play in priest.

  • New Warlock Minion - Felsoul Jailer

Pretty good actually. Can immensly annoy your opponent and set them behind or even just ruin them completely if combined with silence (even if that's pretty slow)

  • New Rogue Minion - Vanessa VanCleef

    Ayyy, she's finally here.

I like the non-random burgling effect and it's about time it became part of Rogue's core gameplay. At 2-mana this is flexible enough to be used in multiple situations.

Just take for instance your opponent goes first and plays their 1-drop of choice. YOu can coin this and get a combo activator for later or something similar.

  • New Shaman Minion - Novice Zapper

    Is that Zappy Boy?

Either way, seems like a way better Overload stand-in than Dust Devil. Cheap spell damage shouldn't be underestimated, but I hardly see this being used for tempo

  • Our Initial Thoughts on The Three New Dragon Aspects Coming to Hearthstone's Core Set in Year of the Gryphon

Why do I get the feeling that Malygos will end up as a huge headache later down the line. It just looks like some really dumb Druid stuff is going to happen with ramping into Maly and then assembling an entire OTK by turn 6.

  • New Warlock Spell - Imp Swarm (Rank 1)

What do you even do with this? It's a mediocre reload for Zoo after turn 5 but you can't really afford to hold it that long. Plague of FLames is going away too so that's out of the picture.

Maybe they'll try some whacky no-minion archetype for Warlock and this is part of it. We do have Dark Portal after all, so maybe Big Warlock is the intended deck

  • New Warlock Minion - Felsoul Jailer

It's similar to Dirty Rat. Playing rat was risky, because u could pull something too big too early. In this case enemy can get his card back unless you silence Jailer or remove it somehow without killing (I hope brewmasters will be in core set).

  • New Neutral Minion - Blademaster Samuro

REALLY interesting and good card. Might as well see play in nearly every class. Blademaster Samuro is really good alongside handbuffs and it's 6 health makes it really easy to survive a trade and get the Frenzy off. Rogue can definatly use this very well to actually get an good AOE card, Libram Paladin can also use it well, and obviously Warrior, Druid and hunter. Hunter now get's a board clear thats not a secret, and it might enable some midrange/combo hunter deck with Beastmaster Leoroxx to finally shine. Also Rogue can REALLY use Blademaster Samuro because rogues only have like 2 other Board clears, those being Fan of Knives and Blade Flurry. I'm really hyped for the amount of stuff Blademaster Samuro could enable, and i'm so happy to see some an amazing neutral anti aggro card. OH and priest can cast Apotheosis on Blademaster Samuro in order to heal a LOT.

I know this is way too early to say this, but Blademaster Samuro might become a must craft, and i wouldn't be surprised if Blademaster Samuro would either become really OP and nerfed quickly, or become Zilliax level loved/balanced. Time will tell!

  • New Neutral Minion - Peon

nah thanks I'll just play Wandmaker

  • New Neutral Minion - Spirit Healer

Can target itself so probably not bad.

If you play this in Libram Paladin at get a turn 4 libram on it yo have a pretty fat minionn just hanging around...unless Libram's aren't holy spells for some reason

  • New Neutral Minion - Razormane Raider

Pack Filler power creep, RIP Pit Fighter

  • Our Initial Thoughts on The Three New Dragon Aspects Coming to Hearthstone's Core Set in Year of the Gryphon

    Like me.

  • New Shaman Minion - Novice Zapper

Well, Sludge Slurper was overused, it was nerfed to 1/1 (and then unnerfed)  and now we have his bigger brother for same cost.
