Well, that's basically confirming rogue's legendary, and a fitting one too.
It has good applications, but I'm afraid its always going to be on the fringes. Its just simply not possible for a card to see inclusion into a deck that only sometimes do good stuff. But if shadowstep makes the cut in standard then that would explain why this card is on first sight sems so underwhelming.
Is Vanessa VanCleef the replacement for Edwin as the class legendary for Rogue in the core set? Copy a card my opponent played on a combo trigger... Really? Edwin was way too strong, i get it. But why these replacements to classic legendary cards need to be so meh? It was the same thing with Natalie Seline. That card's only reason for existing is as an option for Zephrys. Priest has way too many efficient targeted removal spells and they are all cheap. The class doesn't need an extremely slow and expensive removal on a stick. Also, i really dislike how this card lacks any other utility or synergy. It's a card that does only one thing. It has zero flexibility. Velen could at least be used to improve your healing. It was mostly used for broken combos but it could do something else. Natalie can't do anything other than kill one thing (eating up your whole turn in the process) and die immediately after. The class is lacking a classic legendary ever since Prophet Velen was moved to the Hall of Fame. And Rogue seems to be heading in the same direction as the design of this new card doesn't inspire any confidence. That's how i feel about it.
Not sure about it but its not completely trash. Its a good 3/2 for 1 on turn 1 but It cripples your 2 mana slot, unlike Sludge Slurper which at least gives you an option for turn 2. And in other decks with Landslide its basically 3 mana deal 4 damage to your opponent's board.
great card; fits on curve after overgrowth to help u regain the board. smash a 5/5 and develop a 6/7 taunt. (and i assume the taunt keeps beast synergy for n'zoth summons).
Better than the original. But not by much. It still discards your cards, so there's still a give and take which makes this not top of the world. But at the end of the day, its still a 12/12 swing card. And that has to be respected if nothing else.
Its draws you all the spells you need. That's strong, but unfortunately, its still a 9 mana do nothing most of the time. But there's still more cards to come so there's always hope this one will surpass its predecessor.
I get your point, but that would make her literally just a paladin card without any usefulness whatsoever when generated for Priest (the only one that can actually generate her). I think since it's a dual class card, and even if it's unused by Priest, it should at least be neutral to Priest, and not detrimental to it.
Its basically a rush minion which allows your opponent to sometimes decide for it.
Is a 5 mana 5/6 rush good? Probably not in standard. Unfortunately, since frenzy doesn't trigger more than once, I'm hard pressed to see this as anything else other than arena fodder.
The effect, if im not mistaken, is to send his wife into your deck, which on drawing, cast a 3/10 mankrik to kick the opponent's face immediately.
Not bad, but not really that good neither unless you draw this immediately in the next 2-3 turns. Still, a 10 health mankrik is not an easy nut to crack and mankrik himself starts as a 3/4 for 3, which is already at least a decent card.
If you can somehow buff this then this card is straightup insane. But that's probably the biggest problem with this card. The two classes that can easily buff its attack, warrior and paladin, already have another swing option in Lord Barov, so the only other class that can reasonably do it is rogue with Cold Blood.
Not sure if this will ever take the meta by storm. Probably not. But I'm fairly certain team5 wouldn't just print cards like this without some kind of support card for it, so I'm on the fence with this one.
A strong tech card. And perhaps in time it will prove too strong. Most decks would want this if only because its basically a better silence card, or a backup removal option. In some cases, it even enables a second battlecry. The possibilities are endless.
Control Priest is going to appreciate the new Malygos a lot. Instead of relying too much on spell generation, the class now will have access to a really good and reliable hand refill. The new Ysera is good but the dragon and Laughing Sister she generates are incredibly slow cards and undesirable in most situations. And the new Deathwing is definitely a much less punishing card. You can't choose what is being discarded but it's still better than losing your entire hand.
Probably not good. No control deck wants this, so the upgrade is pretty moot. Its viability is solely then on the fact that its a fel spell, and even then Im sure there's simply better spells. If only it made void walkers instead of flame imps, then we're talking some real value. But as it stands, its just not up to par.
It has potential certainly. Combined with Imprisoned Phoenix, this is just a 2 mana remove 2 minions in most cases, which also incidentally gets better with time.
But theres something inside me that says Landslide is a better card no matter the circumstances as long as overload is still a tolerable concept in control shaman.
Not sure, but it has the same weird watermark that Vanessa VanCleef has behind her card text so it makes me feel like it's a legit new card in the Core Set. They said some would be re-imagined favorites. Maybe this watermark is to indicate they are a "re-imagined favorite" as Vanessa is like the new version of her father, Edwin. This is like Shadow Visions but it pulls the card instead of giving you a copy.
Until we start seeing more nature spells (my guess is that Lightning Bolt would be one of them), this card is only a 4 mana 5/4 that only bares its rubber teeth.
Is there any reason to prefer this over Imprisoned Phoenix, which while being slightly less impactful, is at least a guaranteed 2 turn act. Maybe Zap! would come back to standard, and if its a nature spell, then this card may be better than it appears.
I like that its a 0 mana spell. And that's all I will like about it until I start seeing Auchenai Soulpriest back in standard. But because its a 0 mana spell I'm almost certain team5 would never bring it back, so this is just a glorified radiance that also makes it harder for priest to close games with. In other words, no way to deal damage, no way it sees legit entry into decks.
New Neutral Minion - Crabrider
who downvoted me
how u like me now
New Neutral Minion - Overlord Runthak
A better Grimestreet Enforcer but that card has always been too slow and Im hard pressed to see this card as anything else.
Once a while it lets you dream of the greatest possibilities that in practice will almost always fall flat on the ground.
New Warlock Minion - Felsoul Jailer
Slight disruption tech but ultimately just not good enough. Moving on.
New Rogue Minion - Vanessa VanCleef
Well, that's basically confirming rogue's legendary, and a fitting one too.
It has good applications, but I'm afraid its always going to be on the fringes. Its just simply not possible for a card to see inclusion into a deck that only sometimes do good stuff. New Shaman Minion - Novice Zapper

New Neutral Minion - Mankrik
good shuffle synergy, i think. vaguely equivalent to ticketmaster, but with the shuffle on battlecry which is way better.
New Druid Minion - Druid of the Plains
great card; fits on curve after overgrowth to help u regain the board. smash a 5/5 and develop a 6/7 taunt. (and i assume the taunt keeps beast synergy for n'zoth summons).
this card is going to be a workhorse for druid.
New Neutral Minion - Deathwing the Destroyer
Better than the original. But not by much. It still discards your cards, so there's still a give and take which makes this not top of the world. But at the end of the day, its still a 12/12 swing card. And that has to be respected if nothing else.

High Abbess Alura Is Being Nerfed - Here Are Our Thoughts on The Change to Our Priest and Paladin Friend
I get your point, but that would make her literally just a paladin card without any usefulness whatsoever when generated for Priest (the only one that can actually generate her). I think since it's a dual class card, and even if it's unused by Priest, it should at least be neutral to Priest, and not detrimental to it.
New Neutral Minion - Peon
It looks decent, but its probably still arena fodder. No one would include a 2 mana 2/3 that only sometimes have an effect.
Too bad frenzy doesn't trigger more than once, otherwise this would be a legit threat. Oh well.
New Neutral Minion - Razormane Raider
Its basically a rush minion which allows your opponent to sometimes decide for it.
Is a 5 mana 5/6 rush good? Probably not in standard. Unfortunately, since frenzy doesn't trigger more than once, I'm hard pressed to see this as anything else other than arena fodder.
New Neutral Minion - Spirit Healer
There's some kind of inner fire priest potential with this card.
Pretty certain that the description allows her to buff herself when you play holy spells.
New Neutral Minion - Mankrik
The effect, if im not mistaken, is to send his wife into your deck, which on drawing, cast a 3/10 mankrik to kick the opponent's face immediately.

BlizzConline's Hearthstone Year of the Gryphon Deep Dive Panel Live Recap - More New Cards
Sorry if the question is dumb. There are a few Core cards with Classic watermark. Does that mean they'llbe obtainable from Classic packs?
It looks to me I made a mistake opening those long time hoarded packs..
Our Initial Thoughts on The Three New Dragon Aspects Coming to Hearthstone's Core Set in Year of the Gryphon
Control Priest is going to appreciate the new Malygos a lot. Instead of relying too much on spell generation, the class now will have access to a really good and reliable hand refill. New Shaman Spell - Chain Lightning (Rank 1)
I like this upgrading mechanic. If you draw in the mid or late game, you might still kill something. And if not, it's 2 mana.
