  • Firebat, Hearthstone's First World Champion, Quits Competitive Hearthstone

Frankly, competitive Hearthstone kind of sucks.  The early days where outside forces could run tournaments was so much fun, had so much flavor.  Once Blizzard pushed everyone else out, it just got less fun, less interesting.  There were still good tournaments, but my interest waned and hasn’t much increased.

It’s a lot like Hearthstone really, good stuff is still coming out, but it just doesn’t have the excitement of the early days.  I really miss that time in this game.

Sorry to see you go, Firebat.

My Deep deck is gonna LOVE this!

  • Karma and Taric Are The Worst...Statistically

I agree on the Ezreal nerf - I dont understand why they nerfed him.
And your second point also - I think both cards have a high skill cap.

  • Karma and Taric Are The Worst...Statistically

I think that Taric and Karma are both dangerous champions in that they are awful without support, but with proper support they can be insanely powerful. Karma has also been good in previous metas, but given that ASol is now a thing, she doesn't seem very viable. In terms of buffs, I think that lowering her cost would be a bit too scary. My preferred buffs would be:

Taric: Gains "Play: Create a Gem in hand" and the Tough Keyword (so he's better as a blocker and less reliant on drawing buff spells)

Karma: Gains Attune and her Level 1 Round Start effect becomes "Play or Round Start" (This is a minor change, but would make her less awful when removed the round she's played)

  • I'm quitting Hearthstone (again, but for real this time)

OK I'll give it a try. Thanks!

  • Deep Sea Designing - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

The original picture was a Naga Lord, but it definitely wasn't super clear and didn't feel very 'sea-esque'.  Illithid's/K'thir are much more easily identifiable as relating to the sea so that's the route I decided to go.  No stat or effect changes since feedback was pretty positive on those fronts.

If I don't get to feedback tonight, it will be first thing I do tomorrow!

I know it's not required but i just think it's bad design. Whenever a new champ is released he gets followers which help his game plan. Swain got a bunch of spells that deal damage to both allied and enemy units, and units that deal direct nexus damage. Vi got all that 2 cost draw stuff play stuff package (even if she became a control staple and not an aggro/midrange). Aurelion has dragons with fury which keep growing for his level up requirement. Vlad has units that benefit from self damage. Nautilus and Maokai have toss followers.

It's true some champs don't have direct supportive synergy like Trundle's, but his have the behold 8 cost card stuff which has synergy with what the champ does.

My point is literally no card besides Bayou Brunch helps Tahm, and using him to heal his followers seems like a huge waste. Better ibliterate an enemy than heal a 2/2 to a 2/4, or a 3/1 challenger to a 3/4. Keep in mind to do that he needs to attack (meaning the unit you wanna heal is just removed for that attack), or level up (it stays in him for 1 or 2 whole rounds).

Perhaps Soraka will work well with him, but i think this level of codependency on another region just makes the cards bad.

All I can say right now, that no one else seems to have said yet, is that Citrus Courier loves all these self-damaging effects.

  • Card Design Conversation - Game Shark

I thematically love [Spawn Camping] and [Twenty Player Raid]! Really well done!

These are hilarious. [Hearthstone Card (Speedrunner Toki) Not Found] would be so great in Togwaggle decks

  • Deep Sea Designing - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I'm not happy with Queen Azshara so I made this:

Lost Tallstrider stats, but a Dragon and you can replicate it for the cost of a Coin ('cause Plunder Drakes flock to treasure). I have to assume that the expansion Plunder Drake comes from would have additional means of generating The Coin, but even if you look just at Standard there's Licensed Adventurer, Lucrative Contract, and Umbral Skulker (with more in Wild, obviously).

I'll try to provide feedback tomorrow after I get home from work: I have a massive headache and might just go to bed.

  • New Shadow Isles Card - Vaults of Helia

    Quote From OldManSanns
    Quote From FenrirWulf

I'm curious how this will work when it kills a unit and you don't have another unit with 1 cost higher than that unit. Will it even kill the unit? Or will it just summon the next highest? The way it's worded makes me think it will just kill the unit entirely.

    My interpretation is:

    • If there is an N+1 cost unit in the deck (where N is most expensive ally on board), kill the ally and summon that unit
    • Else: do nothing

I think the key word is "Kill your most expensive ally to summon an ally...". In other words, it's like a contract where killing is the price and summoning is the reward; you either get both or nothing. Plus from a game design POV it just feels really bad if you pay 5 mana for something that automatically kills of your best unit for sometimes no benefit and then you can't even block with it.

Yeah I trust that Riot knew what they were doing when they were making this card and I think that at the very least it wouldn't be the worst outcome that Vaults will just keep killing your biggest unit when you have nothing bigger than it in the deck.

Onthe other hand, I still think it could go both ways with it either doing nothing or killing the next unit it can hit. Though I think I'm more inclined to say that it's probably gonna do nothing because it'd be really confusing otherwise.

  • Augmented Porcupine OTK!

Can confirm that this deck is quick and consistent. Thanks Mark, I love the the pew, pew, porcupine more than anyone should love a card.

I find this mechanic hard to evaluate, but I just want to say that Wise Fry has some pretty awesome flavor.

I’m curious because I’ve run into several games where my opponent have things happen that aren’t supposed to. Getting attack tokens without playing rally on my turn, Capture not capturing a unit without them playing and counter spells or spellshields, etc. I looked through the move list, and I didn’t see anything to give them the abilities they had. Any thoughts? Am I just being paranoid?

All I can say is that I've never seen such things in 4 months of playing. There is always a clear reason for what happened.

That being said, when I was new to the game, there were lots of surprising things because I did not understand how all the interactions worked. By the way, are you aware that Lucian and Garen both can grant attack tokens? Citrus Courier can as well.

Yeah, I’ve played against them before, and in my games I had checked to see whether they or a rally spell had been played. It’s probably nothing, I was just curious if anyone else had seen this

...and he has it? With 3 comments already?

  • Karma and Taric Are The Worst...Statistically

Keep in mind that I absolutely love these champs and I don't believe winrates are the be all and end all

But in this instance 42 percent is insanely low

You know when Katarina is winning more than you, you might need a tweak

    https://lor.mobalytics.gg/stats/cards?rarity=CHAMPION&sortBy=INCLUSION_RATE&sortOrder=DESC

maybe it's time to bring karma down to 5 again so you can curve into her with lux for double laser

As it stands right now nerfing both her and Ezreal really doesn't give Karma a home anymore

Taric I'm surprised at, he does a lot of things that you want him to, and he shows up in a lot of lists.

I'm willing to just say that's people playing him wrong, but maybe he needs a small numbers tweak.

    What do you guys think?

Changed the wording of Submerged Bomb a bit. For clarification, Diving Agent also does need to survive the attack to return to your hand, or at least that was the intention.

    And for some more feedback:

    Show Spoiler

DavnanKillder - The wording of Undersea Ambush is definitely better now. Deep-fiend Drowner sounds like it would get an extremely annoying since it can keep continuously killing minions, healing itself (when it leaves its Dormant status), and staying completely safe of any methods of destruction.

KANSAS - I assume that it goes Dormant, and then goes back to life? Might want to put that on the card. The card seems pretty neat. Compared to [Hearthstone Card (Lucentback) Not Found], it seems okay if possibly weak although it not needing a requirement to come back to life might negate that.

Cg8889 - This feels like just a 5 mana 3/2 that destroys a minion (without Divine Shield), so the text seems a bit unnecessary complex. Even if it's for flavor, I feel like just destroying the minion would get that job done fine enough. I also agree in that a Neutral Vilespine Slayer might not be a good idea.

Hordaki - Against a singular small minion, this seems extremely powerful since you're able to get a pseudo-Charge out of a large minion and then no matter what, your opponent doesn't get the minion back.

MenacingBagel - I like this version better, although it doesn't feel very DH-y to me, both in terms of the effect and the art.

Pokeniner - Prefer the 3 mana version since it's easier to use.

  • Tahm Kench is the Newest Legends of Runeterra Champion Coming in Monuments of Power (4 New Cards)

I don't like that An Acquired Taste damages TK, but maybe that's for balance reasons. I'm wondering if he should be paired with Demacia for Detain, so he can actually capture big threats without dying; or Freljord for Frostbite, with the same reasoning (Frostbite a threat, then eat them). Otherwise he has to capture low-Power units, which sucks.

  • New Bilgewater Champion - Tahm Kench

Tk is a very strong combo killer i would think and will do wonders when played inside of targon that not only can heal/buff his health etremely well but also hush him in case he is about to die. Overall I think he will have a great impact on the meta unless we should return to a bannerman'ish meta for a reason that i can't think of...

Vulnerable is such a nightmare for decks that try to avoid interaction. Since I usually hate those decks, I love cards like this.

Agreed -- vulnerable as a debuff is so underrated; good to see more opportunities to make use of it.

    Quote From FortyDust

Deny and SpellShield are pretty womp-womp, though.

Nah -- it's a 2 mana fleeting spell you got for free; you're more than happy to trade it for either Deny, Bastion, or popping an existing SpellShield. You gained mana advantage and card advantage for the former 2 cases, and my understanding is that if SS kills your Single Combat then neither unit takes damage so I'd expect the same effect here. Plus, you can always just try again for 2 mana next Round.

Bigger scare cards are things like Twin Disciplines or Mystic Shot. You really hate to pay a total of 6 mana just to see your TK die before it even gets the Detain effect off.
