Thanks for checking out the deck, and it certainly is fun! Let me know how well it works for you.

Honestly the Jaina skin and bundle would be worth more if there was a guaranteed legendary card in the bundle.

As such, this bundle's hardly enticing to whales who've already bought packs or crafted the legendaries for their collections, and FTP players have less chances to get the cards needed for the competitive decks on the ladder.

Also no unique voicelines for this purchasable skin? c'mon Blizzard, you're just being cheap

The Warlock card is really poor, man. Mirroring the art of Azari, the Devourer and switching two letters in his name doesn't make it a new card. The Hunter card is better, if not very exciting.

I prefer the second version because it has more Rogue flavor (and I hate Zeph with a passion). I'm not sure how the community will react to an outright steal card, though.

Welcome! Always nice to see new faces here. I like your idea and you've done a great job describing your idea and the flavor. You just need to smooth out some details: it's an unwritten law that a HS card shouldn't have more than 4 lines. That said, you could drop the hand buffing entirely and just focus on the second part.

This looks a bit scary, Self Damage Warlock is already a strong archetype (or was, until the nerfs hit Darkglare). I still like your idea, it's innovative and very unique. I'll think some more about ways to abuse this, I just wanted to let you know about my first impression because that's what counts on that voting page.

Welcome! Always nice to see new faces here. You've created a nice card! I'd like to suggest to change the text to two sentences, though. That is, maybe you should consider to drop the first part since summoning one totem for 4 is so bad it wouldn't be played anyway.

Really cool card! Imho, the simplistic cards oftentimes are the best. Yours certainly has the potential to be one of them. I would actually prefer the "keep all 3" option over your version, having 2 similar cards in the game is no dealbreaker for me, while 3 discoveries make for lenghty turns. Long story short: make it "keep all 3" and I'll vote 5 stars ;-)

Great card! Very flavorful, 5 stars.

A shame that the bundle up for offer are mage packs. Had that been scholomance packs at a good price it would've been a no brainer. But much like Jaina's covered up jigglies we just can't have nice things can we?

Paladins have light, rogues have shadows!

  • Pure Of Heart - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Pretty simplistic, this one. I like the flavor, but maybe it's too boring? DoD watermark because that's where we saw the mechanic first. An alternative for "discover two more" would of course be to keep all 3, but I feel that already have been done both with Crystalsong Portal and Font of Power.

triple "B" means Bring Back the Boobs!

  • We don't need power creep

Honestly, GrappLr's comments are probably self-contradictory precisely because, as you said, Mobalytics is not a great source of information. Their tier lists are defined by two people's personal experiences, and their stats page is nearly impossible to parse through. So, if you're playing against (and losing to) lots of decks with Hush, and seeing lots of decks on the tier list that are old (and so long as you're not bothering to think critically) those are exactly the conclusions you're going to draw.

In general, I'm on board with the idea that the new cards are fairly balanced relative to the other regions, and that avoiding power creep is strictly good. I'm not totally sold on the idea that Riot has done a great job with this expansion, however. I know much has already been said about Aurelion Sol, and I don't want to turn this into just another discussion on him, but I think he has had an outsized impact on what new content can be relevant. The jury's still out on whether, as an individual card, he's too powerful (my gut says he's a bit too good, but it's hard to judge). But because of how the other new archetypes operate (with an emphasis on playing cards prior to attacking), any metagame that uses lots of those new cards is going to experience a massive influx of ASol Control to beat them back down.

This is exactly what we saw with the first week of play in CotM, and it's why everyone reverted back so quickly to old decks*. It's true that the individual play rates of Targon decks are higher than most "meta decks," but those old-archetype, highest winrate "meta decks" still make up nearly 50% of the meta game. That staleness is a problem, and while power creep obviously isn't the answer, but I think releasing a full expansion would have done a lot of good to ensuring the metagame wasn't stale. This whole sets/expansions "release a few regions at a time" thing has arbitrarily stifled the ability of players to develop new decks that don't use Targon, and Targon's ASol problem makes that hard.

*It's common in CCGs for the old meta decks to be the best new decks initially, as they're already optimized and people typically just slot in one or two new cards and call it a day. Eventually that gives rise to new decks as people experiment with new content across the colors/classes/regions of the game. That hasn't really happened thanks to the arbitrary way that Riot has chosen to gate the release of its new content. It has left your options as a) build a deck with Targon, where ASol is king, or b) use an old deck that lacks Targon.

Having monthly special adventures is something I'd definitely enjoy! At this point I've read most of heroes histories, but having some Hearthstone-Lore parts is needed.

Shaveyou - I like the idea of trying to make a card that does something even without the restriction. It seems like it's on the cusp of the power level, so I like it. That said, you shouldn't use the Classic watermark with the no Neutral restriction.

TheHoax91 - I already spoke about this card, so I'll skip over it.

Linkblade91 - Kil'jaeden seems really cool. And it's totally fine in my opinion. You need to have no Neutral cards in your deck and hold a lot of cards in your hand at once for the effect to go off. The most you can possibly do with it is 22 damage with Valdris Felgorge.

Arkasaur - Skyhold Val'kyr seems balanced fine enough, but resurrecting is not a Warrior mechanic, so it feels a bit strange to be placed here. Stampeding Riverwallow is a bit better in terms of fitting the class identities.

Grumpymonk - A clever workaround to the drawback, although I feel like it's possible some people might give you a penalty for believing that it works around the spirit of the prompt. Still though, it's really clever and I'd vouch for it. Playing a 5/10 on turn 4 with The Coin though might be a bit much, so it might be worth it to finetune the numbers a bit.

BasilAnguis - Grumpymonk pretty much said everything that I can say about it.

BloodMefist - Neat. I like it.

R - I feel like it's a bit too obvious that Azari (which you misspelled) just has the same artwork as the original Azari the Devourer just mirrored. The effect is also hard to use because your opponent is either playing a lot of Neutrals and this almost acts as a regular Azari without the condition, or your opponent is barely playing any and it does almost nothing. Beast Tamer is better, but don't use the Classic watermark.

Anchorm4n - A nice tribute to the Unicorn Priest meme, but it's really difficult to use in Priest since they lack weapons. The only thing I can see it being useful for is fatigue. You have a pretty unique viewpoint of my card, and I actually did originall have it as a Start of Game effect but didn't like it very much and figured it'd just go the way of Genn or Baku.

Neoguli - The first version of Kenzou seems a bit too weird to me, and I don't feel like most people want another Zephrys in the game. The second version is a bit better, but these effects tend to have a visceral reaction from some people.

JackJimson - Welcome aboard. It's always nice to see new faces here for these competition. As for Cornered, the first thing I noticed is that it breaks an unofficial but widely accepted and followed rule of Hearthstone card design: Your card cannot have 5 lines of text. This won't get you disqualified, but it will very certainly give you a penalty from most people in voting. The two effects also don't really seem to do anything with each other resulting in a card that feels "overbaked" with abilities. You also have a grammar mistake in "beasts" (all tribes are always capitalized).

Bigcums - A decent idea, although I can't tell if it's OP, UP, or anything in between. Sorry if this wasn't very helpful.

FieselFitz - Another newcomer. That makes me happy. Totemic Potion seems okay, although it's too obvious that it uses Kazakus Potion art, so I'd suggest changing it to something else. While you're changing the art, you might want to change it to something more closely related to Totems. The effect of summoning all 4 Basic Totems is fine, although even without the condition, it's not worth 4 mana in my opinion.

  • Should they add more celestial cards?

    Staff
    Quote From FortyDust

The subset is perfect with one spell and one unit of each mana cost. Why would anyone want to mess with that?

I was under the impression that there were more than two cards with some mana costs but I was wrong. Maybe The Golden Sister and The Silver Sister confused my memory.

On the topic itself: I don't expect them to add any, nor do I think that they should. What they might do is to change the probabilities of getting a certain Celestial, especially if some of them get too prominent.

It seems to be a bug that pops up every now and then. Here's a Reddit thread about it from late 2018.

Middle Jaina is the best one!

Doesn't even seem to be the same person.

    Face different esp. chin.

Seems some, ahem, physical enhancement was carried out.  Unfortunately that likely was reason for present day Jania got nerfed.

  • Does everyone else here see Mogwai's decks showing up a lot?

I feel like every morning, I see a lot of whatever deck he released a YouTube video for the night before. He showcases a lot of interesting decks, so I get why people would want to try them out, but the frequency with which I see them just seems crazy to me.

  • Inquiry Regarding Voting Standards

This is my general ranking, though I'm a stickler for format and balance.

1 — The card is flawed. There are multiple formatting errors (e.g. a keyword is missing; there are multiple spelling mistakes). Competition criteria are ignored or clearly twisted in a way not intended. Little to no thought has been put into mechanics, flavour, and balance (e.g. the card outright breaks the game; I cannot identify the card by its art alone). The card is not functional.

2 — The card is satisfactory. There are no formatting errors. If there are errors, they are minor (e.g. Choose One is followed by a colon instead of a dash). Competition criteria are met, but not expanded on in an interesting way. Thought has been put into mechanics and balance. The card has some flavour (e.g. the art is appropriate for the name, but the effect's connection is unclear). The card is pack-filler at worst and functional at best.

3 — The card is good. There are no formatting errors. Competition criteria are met and the card uses them in an interesting way. Serious thought has been put into mechanics and balance. The card is flavourful (e.g. the art, name, and effect are all clearly related). The card would be experimented with and may see play.

4 — The card is excellent. There are no formatting errors. Competition criteria are met and the card uses them in an innovative way. Effort has been put into mechanics and balance. The card is flavourful. The card would definitely see play.

5 — The card is exemplary. There are no formatting errors, and the effect text has clearly been tidied up. Competition criteria are met and the card uses them to pioneer a new archetype or play-style, or to radically improve existing ones. Serious time and effort have been put into mechanics and balance. The card is exceptionally flavourful (e.g. the effect replicates a World of Warcraft ability). The card would definitely see play, and I would craft it in Gold.

They said they'd all be done in 12 months, which I assume means one each month, possibly except expansion release months to stretch 10 classes across a year. So it won't take forever, though I'm sure it'll feel slow if there's one your'e particularly interested in and it comes towards the end.

Really looking forward to these even with already knowing the lore. Can't remember what the timeline is between one to the next but hopefully it's not the gaps between each expansions because that will take forever to get through all of them.

that middle portrait is what we deserve for our money, not that goofy sh*t!

  • Inquiry Regarding Voting Standards

1 -  Either horrible balance, doesn't work within the rules of competition, or little to no effort was put on displaying the card.

2 - Very plain design, unless the design space really is that restricted by the rules.

3 - Middle of the road, not much else to say.

4 - Has a lot of stuff going for it but feels under or over tuned on stats / effect.

5 - Flavor, great artwork for the card, something I could see being played in a variety of standard decks. Good balance.
