"It’s much more than just “do multiple cards use it”."
"Compare that to something like Cleave. All of the fun designs involving Cleave that we’ve found are already doable in the card text space we have, and none interact with it from other cards. Same thing with Elusive. It’s only a small downside, but the upsides just aren’t there, at least not yet."
The next expansion evidently looking like the Darkmoon Faire will be focused on the fun aspect of the faire but also (in WoW) if you're dead while there, it features a lot of ghosts. I believe Blizz is gearing up to introduce an undead tribe type covering both undead/ghosts, either for that expansion or the one sometime after which I'll get into soon, but first, let's look at a pattern that is currently emerging.
Recently, we've slowly been introduced to a theme that is: token ghost cards.
There is another card though.. that somewhat follows this theme.. and I believe it's the outlier and answer to what's coming. Infiltrator Lilian
I think we'll be seeing a Scarlet Crusade expansion set around the time of King Terenas and the Culling of Stratholme - with the Undead tribe type either introduced or fully fleshed out - pun intended.
It's a theme that has been vaguely floating around in the hearthstone universe, all the way back in classic we had: Scarlet Crusader But then... During the priest rework, we saw 2 new Scarlet Crusade themed cards with Scarlet Subjugator High Inquisitor Whitemane
Sounds better now but i still think that if you change the system, you should not get "as much" rewards but more, even if just a little bit. As well as Battlegrounds rewards, like, DAMN, 10 gold every 3 30min match? And if you want to play better pay over 1000 gold for no additional rewards... I hope the pass revamp is a good one as well.
I think Enrage move was good because there is no difference between "Give a damaged minion +2 attack" and "Give an Enraged minion +2 Attack.". It just complicates the consistency and was a good choice to remove from game if you don't want to produce cards like "Draw an Enrage minion from your deck" or sth. like that and they don't seem like they want to produce such a card.
People who are suggesting OP to play wild clearly haven't played wild constructed in a while.
It was bad enough for a control player in wild last expansion with Quest mage running rampant.
And now you've got Reno priest, which was already a top tier deck before, with a bunch of new cards AND druids with their regained innervate all over the place.
Wild is combo all around right now. Good luck playing a control deck there.
But as others have rightfully said already, there's plenty of viable control decks in standard right now.
Highlander mage, bomb/big warrior and galakrond priest (in order from most to least effective) are all more than serviceable decks.
Yeah that sounds like the wild I remember from last season, quest mage and raza priest every where ^^
Is big warrior actually viable? I am missing rattlegore and am hesitant to craft it since it seems it doesn't have a place on any other deck. I thought big warrior was just one of the day one memes, maybe I should give it a try.
I used to wish that Hearthstone had a lot more keywords. Then I started playing Runeterra, which has a lot of keywords, and now I see the Hearthstone team’s point. I would still clean up their keywords a bit (Recruit is unnecessary, and Rush vs. Charge is truly confusing to new players), but their approach works overall.
Glad to hear they are going to try and tone down murlocs, the best times I've had in BG's lately is when the murloc tribe is banned. It's fine until they hit that lucky transition into a board of poisonous divine shields. Also hope they redesign the cannon or outright remove it.
With very little gaming the minimum is an average of 70g/day (quest and some won). Multiplied by 7 (days)*17 (weeks) this give almost the double of what Ben earns ...
I use my second account for testing and I only do daily quests there, no playing at all, only against friends. I get 6k gold per cycle so that means 5k gold per cycle is a total lie or he didn't do his math correctly.
Not sure if a platinum card version (or just another border art) would make the effort worth it, so I imagine some kind of cool FX or even a 3D version of the cards
In that case, skin would cost only $10 just like it will cost for people who have ‘missed’ it. And that’s exactly why I’ll never pre-order again. I’ll rather ‘miss’ them and get them for $10 later then pay $80 just because it has been greedily attached to a mega bundle. So much for the exclusivity..
OK, this sounds a lot better now, I'm glad to see Blizzard's way remains keeping F2P viable instead of making it punishing. Now it just remains to be seen what exactly changes.
I have a hunch we'll get Lilian Voss as a hero alongside the Scholomance solo stuff since she's the obvious good guy to go exposing the dark side of the school with.
That's less than two months away, assuming I'm right of course.
I've been out of the Hearthstone loop for a long time. I was just in a game of Tavern Brawl where my opponent kept randomly getting Spellburst units. I hovered them, and I clicked them, and generally did every permutation of this I could come up with, and nowhere was I rewarded with an explanation of what Spellburst actually does. I did figure it out when he played a spell and BAM the effect happened. But the game client never explained the keyword at all, despite my efforts to make it do so.
Poisonous needed to be a keyword. The other new keyword in Un'goro - Adapt - would have been a lot clunkier without it, not to mention it just generally fit the theme of an unexplored prehistoric jungle. Plus, cards like Plague of Madness and Ambush would have had too much text without it, and Deathstalker Rexxar would have had a much more limited pool for its Hero Power. Plus, Toxfin, Professor Slate and Plaguebringer would have been way more difficult to make.
Desperate Stand is not Reborn. The created minion has 1 Health, not 1 Health Remaining (it cannot be healed). It is more like a targeted Redemption.
I agree with you on the issues with Recruit and the fact that Elusive really should be a keyword (and Enrage tbh). But Poisonous is actually a case where Blizz made a good change that was simple, logical and positively impactful. That's what your arguing for with Elusive, so don't rag on them for it.
Wow you dusted Turalyon without even trying him. Too many people buying into the negative pre expansion hype about him so no one's even testing him out. He has a very powerful effect and isn't easy to kill as a 3/9 with their biggest minion off the board. And if he lives just one turn its a disaster for the opponent.
I call bullshit on that reasoning. They're just really inconsistent and trying to come up with a reason later.
Take Poisonous. There were 4 cards with Poisonous on them before Un'goro and it was described as "Destroy any minion damaged by this minion." In Un'goro, they've introduced the keyword and added exactly 3 cards with it. So, at that time, it was a keyword for 7 cards. Since then, more have been added, some granting Poisonous, but no synergy cards like Double Jump that NEED a keyword. Also, most cards with Poisonous have 1-2 lines of text. So basically all 3 of Celestalon's reasons don't apply well to Poisonous, yet it's a keyword. List
Now take Recruit: Just in Standard, there are 10 cards that have an effect which works exactly like Recruit, and the replacement text takes up 2 lines. There were 6 Recruit-like cards before Kobolds & Catacombs, but they didn't grant them the keyword for some reason. Officially, 11 cards have Recruit. Also, Captain Hooktusk was printed since. This time, compared to Poisonous: the design space is widely used, the keyword replaces 2 lines of text, but they didn't make the keyword evergreen for some reason. See here
There are 28 "real" Recruit cards and 29 Poisonous cards.
Did you really read the damn post? There is no cap at 5k, actually there is no cap at all. It has been cleary said. Wow!!!
Here I put it again FFS!! "Ben mentions in a later comment to remind everyone that the 5000 gold is just his personal progression each expansion cycle and not a cap in the system."
This feels very much paper scissors rock. I feel great against aggro and elusives but Deep decks are my bane I can’t push out enough damage and they seem to hit deep incredibly early. No you aren’t the only one who feels like this, but I doubt most aggro and elusive players do.
