I like this card, not sure if it is good, but it is non-combo hard removal with a body.
As others have mentioned, the mana cost is what hurts this card. I think it needs to have windfury to justify the mana cost. So with rush, this could hard remove 2 minions and leave behind a 3/6 body. Or lower the health and mana cost to make it more flexible.
Does remind me of Sunkeeper Tarim, to some extend. Its a slow single target removal on a 3/9 stick; not grandiose nor bad.
This is the first thing that came to mind as well. I loved mid-range pally years ago, this card sort of gives the vibe of that time for me.
I agree with the assessment that this is in essence poisonous with Rush. With a one difference, It is almost guaranteed to survive (unless target minion is poisonous).
One clarification though, if this attacks a divine shield minion, will the 3/3 transformation persist after the attack? For example, opponent drops Tirion Fordring, then you drop and attack this next turn. Will tirion survive with 6/6, or 3/3?
I usually make 20+ decks during card reveals until the expansion is released and by the next expansion I want to get rid of them of all but It would take a tedious amount of time to do so.
My suggestion is to have a box you can check off to delete multiple decks at a time and other things like that more effeciently.
This is an excellent card all around. Any tempo deck would love a card like this.
Though I'm not sure if this will fill your hand with 5 cards even if this is the only card in your hand. Is that how it works? Or do you need at least 5 cards in hand since the text says "replace"? If it's the former, then this is great--refilling an empty hand in the mid-game is always good for tempo/aggro decks.
This card could bring more consistency to thief rogue in wild. Turn 4 play Academic Espionage. Turn 5 play Secret Passage and have 4 mana left over for those 1-cost cards! I'll be experimenting with this one!
Usually with nerfs, I am 70/30 to DE for the dust. This time around, the nerfs were all pretty fair and didn't hinder the cards too much, so I think I'll keep mine for now.
Does it technically count as card generation though? If it was phrased instead as "Give your next spell twinspell", or "Your next spell does not leave your hand" it would have the same effect but you would not consider it card generation. I would personally treat it more like Headcrack or Anub'arak than anything else, which I consider to be the same card rather than being generated each time (even if in the code it might be the latter).
The thing is, you're still generating a resource. Even if it is the same resource you had before, being able to use it again is an additional new resource.
Agreed, but there is nevertheless a huge distinction between this effect and the usual card generation effects: you only get what you already had. Nothing is being generated from outside the game and your hand is not being filled with more copies than you had before. It is arguably closer akin to Shadowstep than it is to the usual card generation effects.
Looking at it from another angle: nowhere does it say a class weakness should mean they have absolutely none of it. Only that their tools are significantly more limited than other classes get. Only being able to generate a card you already have, and only 1 copy too, sounds exactly like the limited version Shaman should get, since it does not let them get anywhere near to clogging their hands with value like rogue, mage and priest can.
Oh I may have misunderstood your point. You're saying it's fine that they have it because it's not the same? Yeah, I have no problem with them having it.
Pretty sure Blizzard acknowledged recently that classes having, for example, no card draw isn't an acceptable 'weakness' as it makes you just too bad. Something like this, giving you, I suppose you could say a lesser version is a good way to help to remedy that, if nothing else.
I think you can open 9 normal packs and 10th to be golden to check if the guaranteed legendary from the first 10 packs from an expansion is true
Sure, but you run the risk of opening a legendary in those first 9 packs, at which point the golden teaches us nothing. Starting at 5 maximises the odds of getting the golden L, or of teaching us that they aren't linked (as I suspect). There's little reason to wait any longer, especially if you're more interested in maximising the chances at the Golden L than learning :)
Chillwind Yeti is the single best card in the game. I would gladly play a third, fourth, or even fifth copy in all of my decks.
In Vanilla, definitely it was. I haven't seen it (outside Arena I guess) in a single top tier list in a very long time. This card may be good enough, absolutely, I just don't think it's a slam dunk is all.
I think the warglaives are a pretty safe disenchant as according to VS, tempo DH is better without the glaives. I'd hold onto a Dragoncaster though simply because if you ignore Highlander hunt being everywhere, Highlander Mage has still been doing fairly well in the grand scheme of things and Dragoncaster is still a very strong part of the deck.
The worst-case scenario is that you disenchant them now and just recraft them again later anyway.
This isn't WoW where you get unique transmog gear, titles, mounts, and FoS. Are we really to believe T5 is rigging games so players don't get a few extra hundred dust each month?
I don't believe anybody claimed it was about a few hundred dust. Just 'sayin. I was just pointing out that OP is absolutely NOT CRAZY because instead of recounting one night of "feeling like he got a ton of bad match-ups" I have some actual match data which tells the same story. I'm sure he was feeling like he was crazy but if he has an experience similar to mine, he's not crazy. If he has had an experience similar to mine he's literally getting a disproportionately high amount bad match-ups. Not saying anything more or anything less.
The first assumption is that T5 would be believing most players would in fact buy a lot more packs to fill their collection. The second assumption is that players wouldn't actually be the type of players that would instead say "Screw this game! If I'm going to keep losing and not have fun then I'm just going to quit this game."
If these assumptions were correct there wouldn't be any pay-to-win games, where players pay to "fill in the gaps" in those games. But its still a very profitable type of game even with the players who play and eventually do say "Screw this game! etc etc". (To be clear, I'm not talking about HS in that example.) Moreover, OP and myself have positive win-rates in the 55-60% range, so its really not just salt when we "keep losing" lol. It's a fun game either way, that's why we all play.
A bonus hole to punch through this theory is why would T5 allegedly rig games of players who have filled the holes in their collection for the decks they care about? If you no longer have any incentive to buy more packs from a particular set of packs, until the new expansion, having your games rigged isn't going to suddenly make you want to do something (ie more pack buying) that you don't care about.
Look at this: https://imgur.com/a/r3GAoSg
Look at the global statistics up top. They show you how other players have done against each class using the EXACT deck I'm using (it's actually quite popular so there is a ton of games by thousands of players in those stats). So, now lets take a look at the pie chart below which shows what classes I have been paired with. The most frequently faced class by far is Demon Hunter which has the lowest win-rate, by far (43%). Out of all 10 classes I faced DH 29% of all my games. Followed by Mage and Hunter which happen to be the next two lowest win-rate match-ups for that deck, in that order. On my second most played deck that I linked at some point earlier (a Tempo DH deck) my most frequently faced class is Hunter which is also the lowest win-rate by far at (42%).
Consider then a player is having a bad night and feels like they are getting absolutely smashed by a "weirdly high amount of" (insert toughtest-to beat class for their deck here). They feel compelled to make their own deck of that kind or one to counter it. They que up and now get a "weirdly high amount of" (insert toughtest-to beat class for this NEW deck here). They may feel compelled to make their own or counter it... but then what if... you catch my drift.
But I honestly don't think its just about buying more packs. If there is a super broken deck that is winning +50% of games against all but one class (like that deck above actually) making some of these changes would serve to improve "player experience". It would make matchmaking less flooded by the current meta and a good deck will still be giving a decent player 60% or more win-rate. That alone seemed like a good enough reason to me for them to do it.
Again, I'm not trying to insult anyone. I'm just being as honest as possible since I used to feel similar to many of you but these stats are crazy to me lol. And I think its naive to believe there is no incentive for it to be done this way. Now whether you believe whether or not "they would ever do that" or if the risk is "worth it to them" is a different story though for sure. But those are all opinions and everyone will have their own imo.
Seriously would love to see some more match summaries to see if they look like mine.
Thank you for your replies.
Much love, jaypee
EDIT: changed because it said nobody said it was rigged, but OP did say rigged lol. my bad.
Defensive cards that provide more defense are generally pretty good. Khartut Defender is a pretty good card. Sludge Slurper was a pretty good card. [Hearthstone Card (Rottem Applebaum) Not Found] is played by some rogues who want more stall tools. This is better because it is a battlecry, so it can be used with Shudderwock or Corrupt the Waters. This card is just too flexible to not be played in some deck before it rotates to wild.
Defensive cards usually don't get their attack nerfed.

I dusted Alex for now, but I'm kind of already missing her. Got lucky today with a golden Corsair Cache from a pack from an Arena run.
What do you think, do I need two copies of Warglaives and Dragoncaster? I feel like one of those would be enough for most deck so I could dust the second copies...
New Neutral Minion - Lorekeeper Polkelt
I agree with Regis' assessment:
Not a must craft card for me but it's on the next tier.

I'm curious about the Demon Hunter deck. Mostly because it's not all about aggro.
Kargath Bladefist and the Savage Fel Orcs - Traversing Azeroth
Great write up on this!

Really neat removal option, but also expensive and is beaten by divine shield.

I kept thinking Turalyon should have Batterhead's ability to attack again. It is an 8 mana 3/12, after all.

New Neutral Weapon - Sphere of Sapience
1. Thank Yogg they hall of famed Leeroy Jenkins.
2. I am betting we get a support neutral minion that says: Battlecry: Draw the bottom card in your deck.
3. I can see this card working in decks with weapon buffs so you can swing with it such as pirate warrior with the plus of more consistent draw.
Overall I think this is an average card. Not game breaking but not bad either.
