The company that's putting out the Mistborn deckbuilding game is also doing a Cosmere TTRPG (Stormlight is coming out first, with a Mistborn "expansion"(?) coming a year later) that did pretty well on Kickstarter a month or so back. It sounded interesting (it's basically the standard d20 rules, but they added in a special d6 "plot die" for bigger moments) but I'm not big into tabletop roleplaying (don't have too many in my neck o' th'woods who I can play with, anyway) so I only sortof paid attention to it. On the "Wax and Wayne" front, I really enjoyed Alloy of Law but am lukewarm on the three that followed - they're fine stories, but I feel they require the reader to have a fairly deep knowledge of the innerworkings of the Cosmere to enjoy them.
So, Books. I've started my slow reread of Stormlight, and I'm in Words of Radiance at the moment (yes, I really do need three months to read four Stormlight books, and anyone who has seem them can confirm this - But I'm also reading Edgedancer and Dawnshard as part of the reread). I do this so I can read other things at the same time because my brain loves getting distracted. Right now I'm doing some spooky reads for October: read Turn of the Screw by Henry James and now I'm trying Salem's Lot by Stephen King.
Before the Stormlight reread got going I read Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett (solid, not the best Discworld) and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, which is a book that is very confused about what it wants to be - it's trying to be both murder mystery and high concept scifi but it can't seem to give either enough space and so it ends up being a confusingly bland rollercoaster which judders to a halt thanks to some incredibly clunky contrivances and vague handwaving explanations. The murder mystery is the kind that ends with so many twists that you're not even sure who, if anyone, was murdered or why (which is usually a good way to tell that the author has no clue what they're doing and is just trying to "outsmart the reader") and the scifi stuff (if it is even scifi) is barely mentioned so you really have no idea why anyone is where they are or why they do the things they do (or how the world they inhabit even exists, or why, or what anyone is doing there). What's even better is that the copy I read had an interview with the author included, where he effectively admits he has no clue about his own story's worldbuilding (which 50% of the time is nonexistent and the other 50% of the time is complete balderdash that sounds like he made it up three seconds before). I hate ranting, but I despise even more books that are so lazily put together that they it feels like they're actively insulting any reader who expects them to hold together for even the briefest moment.
Kil'jaeden - Its a control buster, or a reno buster, because it cant be countered, you cant fatigue, and boomboss cant do shit to you once this is played. The only way to win after this is played is to kill the opponent, and fast. That said, this card is probably not gonna see much play outside of reno decks because 95% of the time you'd either die way before this card is relevant, or you'll just win without it.
Eredar Brute - Its a common card because you just know its gonna get nerfed. And if it doesnt get nerfed its a slap in the face for any and all aggro decks out there that doesnt go tall. Apart of that, its also packs abuse potential with pally and Showdown!, and is not a bad card in its own right anywhere around 5 mana and below.
Lunar Trailblazer - In a way, its another skyla, but I think its redundant. Not only is it inconsistent, but you dont really need so many cards that do the same thing in the deck. Synergy with draenei may make it more relevant.
Astral Vigilant - This card replicates your win con, so obviously its gonna see play
Having seen The Great Dark Beyond's set in full, I am not as passionate about working on this as I was initially. Farseer Nobundo, Yrel Beacon of Hope, Kil'jaeden; having to "compete" with the official cards so soon after I started this back up is frustrating and disheartening. There's even a Paladin card about controlling exactly 1 minion, Celestial Aura! Like, come on now.
I might keep working on this, but it'll be a hot minute to get my gears turning again.
So my desire to play Marvel Snap is waning for a third time, but it's not my wallet's fault this go-around: the daily missions give me the feeling that I must play every day, and the game starts to feel like an obligation. I hate that shit with a passion: I want to play games when and how I feel like it because I enjoy them, not because of some requirement to play in an effort to stay afloat in the Snap economy. This might be the death-knell for me; third time's the charm?
Marvel Rivals had a daily missions thing too during the beta, and while that game was very fun, I am concerned what effect such a system will have on me yet-again.
Live service games: can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em lol.
Diablo IV's expansion Vessel of Hatred has been a blast, by the way. The Spiritborn is ridiculously fun and kicks so much ass; I hope they can bring the other classes up to its level, rather than hit Spiritborn with the nerf bat.
It was mentioned in the thread four years ago (wow time flies), but my aunt won't stop talking about Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. She loves the "Wax & Wayne" books in particular. Coincidentally, they're making a deckbuilding table game for Mistborn that comes out next month.
Decided to skip The Blacktongue Thief for the moment and read The Moon is a harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein instead. The language initially turned me off a bit, as the whole book is written the way the protagonist is speaking. Other than that it was a great read, focusing mostly on politics similar to the Ender’s Shadow series by Orson Scott Card. Exciting till the very end, if partly a little predictable. Enjoyable, easy lecture. Last month I got a little bonus at work and I used part of it to treat me with a few sci-fi books. I’ll report back on each of them!
The Exodar - Theres only really one protocol you'll be seeing the most and that's emergency repairs, which will give you armor equal to double the ship's health, which usually means in excess of 10, maybe around 16. There's really not much to say about this card aside from the fact that it'll likely only be seen in druid because 90% of the time you'll either be destroyed before turn 8 or your opponent have assembled a board such that this card barely buys you another turn.
Red Giant - My opinion is that this card is trash. But no way to knowing that until we've seen if outcast dhunter can make a come back
Mutating Lifeform - It'll never see play outside of arena. 8 health is a lot, but its never gonna win you the game so why bother.
Star Vulpera - Obvious reference to starfox. But aside from that Im not seeing this card seeing any play outside of reno decks.
Doommaiden - Its funny, its meme, and its also trash. Reno deck card at best.
Braingill - Staple in murloc decks. Unfortunately, murloc decks havent been meta since the start of sunken city. Not expecting it anytime soon in the near future
Troubled Mechanic - A card that will very nearly see play in all decks simply because draenei tribal tags are so unique it basically tutors your win con.
Space Pirate - Staple in aggro decks because why not. Does what aggro decks wants, and also means you dont have to play Instrument Tech in your deck.
For literally the same exact mana cost, you get an 8/8 body that summons two copies of the latter card when it dies. I know that Splitting Festeroot was never a great card by any means, even back in the day, but GOD DAMN, the dude is already dead. I can't think of a single powercreep (using the word loosely) in the game that represents that much mana.
I thought like they only added Undead to zombies, abominations etc. for a moment but you are right, they added Undead tag to all. They should have spared Forsaken with Undead.
I already talked about this before when they released Undead at MotLK but people said "it's ok, they can't spare them". I was ok with that at that moment and i forgot for a moment now and yes you are right.
There was a speak at classic times about Druid beasts that if they want to add Night Elf / Tauren etc. how the tribes will be and people was saying that "they will never add playable races as tribes so don't worry." lol. Look at where we are now.
They were saying the same thing while i was whining about they shouldn't add Undead btw. Thanks for remembering it to me.
I still have hopes if they start to add other races, maybe they spare Forsaken and Undead from each other. I mean, How in the world Abomination and Sylvanas Windrunner has the same tribe tag.
I don't think they'd ever add Forsaken as a tribe because the difference between Forsaken and Undead is not going to be obvious to people who don't know much about WoW. I can imagine all of those people being like "why is this thing not an Undead? It's a rotting, zombie looking thing."
Night Elf and Tauren might happen at some point. I don't have a problem with Draenei being a tribe other than making it harder for people to make custom tribes, but screwing over the FC guys has basically been Blizzard's thing forever, hehe. I will admit that I didn't expect them to be the next new tribe though. I thought it would most likely be Plant.
Undead is a playable race in WoW? The whole Forsaken faction is Undead

Dragons were added to the game way too early at Blackrock Mountain and before that point, there was not a lot of Dragons in the game. Existing ones were all 4/5+ minions and they already have the theme of "holding a big minion in hand as advantage" in design because Blackrock Mountain was already planned while they are creating the classic, Naxx and GvG.
Dragons are not a playable race which can be ANY class btw. Latest ones are Drachtyr and they can become only Evoker (which will change or already changed with war within, i guess) and Dragon Aspects is the reason of "if you are holding a dragon" mechanic already.
For naga, you might be right but it also suits the theme as there was not a lot of Nagas before there was only 1 naga at classic and bunch with Demon Hunter release.
I am not way too late tbh because this is the first time a race that can do a lot of things getting tribe tag. Ok, i agree with some older stuff break some tribe mechanics as being out of context but Draenei is used wider then any other existing tribes on arts and will be used for more on upcoming releases because it is one of the main races of the Warcraft which can be used by players too. It is the first and the only playable race of WoW tribe tag on Heartshtone.

All of these arguments can be applied to Dragons (the Dragon Aspects existed in the Basic set, along with things like Azure Drake), Undeads and Naga. So if you want to raise that point I think you are way too late.
More likely that Radiant Elemental gets a nerf IMO. If Sorcerer's Apprentice was any indication, I think that card is due for a (but not less than 1) added to it.

11/10 flavour text.

Got another one :)

New Neutral Minion - The Exodar
As long as some whales keep paying for this shit. They have no intention of employing good designers
New Neutral Minion - The Exodar
So it will end up being another C'Thun or C'Thun, the Shattered or Sire Denathrius or Astalor, the Flamebringer
How many more times we have to encounter this boring mechanic i wonder. Same finisher over and over and over and over again.

So protocols give us another C'Thun or C'Thun, the Shattered or Sire Denathrius or Astalor, the Flamebringer ?
How creative ? I can't think of even more interesting play...
I just want a year without this effect. Why is this coming back over and over again ?
This single thing just destroyed my hype and will to play the new expansion, great work Team 5 !
New Neutral Minion - Doommaiden
don't touch my art
