  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

It should be a standard Brawliseum. Why would blizzard give everyone a free ticket to enter then only 5% of players can build a deck?

Also seeing as most people don't buy preorders anymore, the pre-release event will be 90% current meta decks (or whatever decks are good after the nerfs this week)

Definitely a shitty idea for a pre-release expansion event

100% agree on this as I do the same. I have a feeling Blizzard caught on to this as they probably have the data on how many players save their standard packs for the next expansion. It's just one of those sneaky ways Blizzard is forcing players to buy more packs

  • Analogue Announces "3D" the First 4K FPGA N64, Available October 21

didn't Nintendo start a war with emulators lately (on last march for yuzu, citra, ryujinx etc. iirc). You were using dumped roms with third-party either for emulators too and citra was 3ds, not switch but they are addressed for like 2.5m for lawsuit and it is accepted. If they really want to make a thing like this, i don't think anything can stop Nintendo to make a lawsuit for these guys. It doesn't matter if you use third-party to use dumped roms for this product, you are openning a posibility to make people do that so Nintendo won't accept this.

I mean, their only reasoning is like "Because it is illegal", they can do anything to sell consoles, all those nintendo exclusive games arent released for anything but selling consoles. it is their only bussiness model. So if they see a market for this, i don't think this product will stand a chance to survive.

This is a scam in disguise. They want us to be thankful for these changes really ? I %500 agree with anchorm4n, i'm doing the same thing and latest expansion packs are only valuable at first month or until mini-set for a f2p player. Standard pack hoarding almost completes commons and rares single-handedly right now if you open your hoard at first day of an expansion then start hoarding and expansion packs gives you value of dust with first balance patch with duplicate dusting. There is no value on dupe dusting on last month of the expansion. Also Standard packs fills some holes of older expansions.

Do they really want us to stick with what we have on release for 2 years of an expansion ? No more filling some holes with standard packs unless you are buying them with money/gold. Let's be honest, who buys standard packs with gold? Noone.

Hearthstone goes rapidly unplayable state for f2p due to predatory marketing and becomes a f2p-looking p2p asian game. They are desperately trying to find some more gain areas, They tried decreasing quest rewards, it didn't work. Now they are trying this and that pre-release event. They must be losing a lot of players/money to be this much predatory.

I never thought that I would say this but MTG:Arena have %500 better system than this game right now, at least you can collect whatever you wish, you can go for historic(wild) events and collect them if you want, you can buy pass with playing draft, collect cards by playing draft, you can collect older standard cards with rotating drafts, even collect historic(wild) cards by playing draft from time to time, pass gives some older standard packs etc.

There will be no way to gain older standard cards with release of next expansion anymore. Arena gives only latest packs, arena rotations means nothing because of this shitty reward decision and shitty draft mode design. reward track gives like 3-5x standard packs i assume? now Tavern gives only latest packs.

HS won't give the value of the time you spent anymore. If you were here at expansion releases, good for you. If you start the game after expansion release, you won't find the time to collect other standard cards because you will be busy to collect latest expansion and game won't give you older standard expansions so probably you can't create decks because you are missing some staples of older expansions.

tl:dr; That's a horrible change for both new and old players. Noone except Blizzard wins here.

  • Blizzard Reveals Mid-October Balance Changes for Standard, Wild, & Battlegrounds

I've got to say I'm concerned about Wild. If Treasure Distributor is killed, the meta will slow down even more - a process that has started with the nerf to Secret Passage. The result will not be an utopia of "reasonable" aggro decks, some midrange stuff and control being viable. Instead, we'll find ourselves in a hellscape made of Reno tech piles and turbo combo. We're already seeing the light version of this with decks like Charge Druid (thankfully, this will probably die tonight), Spell Damage Druid, QL Demon Hunter (sometimes with Il'gynoth), Warsong Warrior (super underrated deck) and Reno Priest/Shaman. Those will all get better when aggro gets toned down. And it doesn't help that Seedlock will receive a new toy upon expansion release either. So yeah, I hope you guys are right and they only shave off 1 HP from Distributor.

  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

If the event will be tGDB cards only, there will be no f2p players on that event as long as buying packs with gold is unavailable before release. Even they give 3-4x packs and 1x comes from end of season, it is still 25x cards from new expansion, not enough to build a complete deck.

I guess it will be the first event that only paid members can participate.

  • Hearthstone Announces Huge Progression Changes to Tavern Brawl, Weekly Quest Reverts, & Rewards Track

As a hyper-engaged player I really dislike these, especially the Tavern Brawl reward pack. I usually hord Standard packs from day 2 of an expansion until the release of the next one, sometimes getting up to 50 of those. That's a huge head start into the new set for free. Getting a pack from the current expansion might be of the same value on the surface, but now the timing is fucked. Late in an expansion cycle these packs are almost worthless for me as I typically already have all the cards I really want by then.

  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

I do like the idea of trying new stuff and being able to get something out of it at the same time... but then I happen to have preordered this time and I'm bad at Arena so those tickets are probably better used in this special Brawl anyway. If the rewards are good and I can build something competitive with my pack openings, I will consider spending gold as well. Rewarding 1 pack per win would be an interesting idea for example.

All that said, it does feel bad for F2P players. Risking their hard earned gold with this is a tall order and they will probably be severely handicapped without a base collection of new cards.

  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

in paper you're right but in MTG:Arena, it works as; you draft with people then you can play the games whenever you want as long as the event stays online, also there is a quick draw mode too which you draft with bots, difference between normal draft and quick draft is that there is no time to pick cards on quick draft but there is time limit on normal draft with people, like 30secs to pick a card and in both modes you keep the cards that you draft. If it is a duplicate, it fills a vault chest, if it is a rare or mythic duplicate, you get a little amount of gems which you can use to buy another draft token when you have enough amount.

The only reason we don't have this draft mode is how class mechanic and rarity system is and maybe also dust system. Dust system is easily configurable tho like giving 1/2 or 1/4 value if duplicate card is coming from arena etc. but rarity is a bit problem here. in MTG:A you can have 4x Mythics so having duplicate from draft is kind of hard but you know, finding a duplicate of a legendary in arena is easier.

  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

I don't know how draft works in MTG Arena but if it similar to physical MTG drafts then I think the reason why we don't have it in HS is it's difficult to ensure that people who drafted together will play together. What happens if the person you drafted with got bored and closed the app? It's the same reason why we don't have Tournament mode.

  • Hearthstone is Bringing Pre-Release Events Back With a Tavern Brawl Similar to Heroic Brawliseum

I just need a real draft mode on HS. I am still playing MTG:Arena for draft and it tires me sometimes to staying up to date for both games and i am playing fully f2p both games so it takes a lot of time.

Maybe i can leave MTG behind if HS gets a real draft mode, Arena mode is just awkward. I know that class system prevents them to make a real draft at the beginning but there are class packs now and i don't think it is so hard to create Arena-special packs for people.

Also, it is almost 11th year of Hearthstone, why can't we have a Wild Draft mode still ? Only one draft mode is just a shame for a game which is around for a decade. There is still no other way than buying packs with gold or real money to collect wild stuff.

If i need to be honest, they won't do anything for draft mode. That event is just a try to increase pre-order sells. If people don't pre-order, They won't have any tGDB cards so Team 5 and Blizzard simply says "hey we made a new mode (old but new) for you! if you want to participate in the event, go buy the pre-order !"

So they are just trying some oriental cunning style of ruse. Two birds with one stone; Sell pre-orders, make people spend their tickets/gold before even expansion starts. People who open their packs will likely spend some dusts too on release if they spend all their gold on event because you can't craft anything from new expansion before it is active so they want all our resources to go dim so they can milk us.

i hate this era of capitalism and consumerism.

  • Analogue Announces "3D" the First 4K FPGA N64, Available October 21

They should be safe. No proprietary code is being used with the circuitry and the intent is you need to own carts to actually use the product, so they are not promoting piracy. With that said, I know with the Analogue Pocket there are third-party cores that allow you to load dumped ROMs from the MicroSD card, but they're exactly that, third-party so this device is in the clear.

It is also an ancient system. If this "emulated" Switch, I could see them having an issue with it and finding a way to go after them. That's the beauty of old consoles though, their patents have all expired and they don't have complicated custom operating systems like the more modern hardware.

  • Blizzard Reveals Mid-October Balance Changes for Standard, Wild, & Battlegrounds

Golden Kobold - Laughable to say the least. Its the worst treasure by far for good reasons. There's no way team5 can make this more playable than at its current state. I look forward to see what they have cooked up
Yogg-Saron, Unleashed - It'll be a mana nerf to 10. There's just no other way of nerfing this other than completely changing the mind control option, which Im sure is the main reason why this nerf needed to happen.
Wondrous Wand - No prizes for guessing. Its gonna be 1 mana instead of zero from the effects. Either that or it draws only two cards.
Puppetmaster Dorian - If there were any justice in this world, this card would be nerfed to oblivion. But likely just a mana nerf. Id prefer this card to be banned from druid instead
Treasure Distributor - Not sure why this needed a nerf but whatever. Probably gonna be health to 1. Though looking at wild, I wouldnt be too surprised to see this nerfed to 2 mana
Party Fiend - Again, not sure why this needed a nerf. But there is a chance it gets buffed to 1/2 but only spawning another 1/1 or 1/2. Basically the only oppressive thing about this card is the fact that there's not a card that can fully remove the three tokens without coin on turn 1.
Crescendo - Its gonna be a mana nerf to 3. I can see no reason for team5 to remove the face damage, because its literally the only reason to even be playing insanitylock
Tsunami - Card revert. Nuff said
Razzle-Dazzler - This is getting nerfed solely because there's little to no reason to not build around this. The overall effect is way too powerful compared to most other builds, and blizz wants priority given to the new expansion. Perhaps instead of a card revert, the tokens gets nerfed to 3-4 mana worth instead of 5.
Injured Hauler - Not gonna lie, this one card can board clear just about anything in overheal priest and probably why its getting nerfed. If I were to guess, the nerf would hit the AoE damage from 2 to 1.

  • Hearthstone Announces Huge Progression Changes to Tavern Brawl, Weekly Quest Reverts, & Rewards Track

On the tavern brawl rewarding expansion packs rather than standard packs, in a perverse sort of way I kinda prefer the standard packs. Two different packs possibly is just better chances of getting legendaries/epics and the fact is I usually just craft most of the more useful legendaries within the first two weeks of the expansion anyway.

As for the quest completion nerf, because lets call it for what it is: its a nerf. Sugarcoat it how they like, its done entirely because its giving out more gold without actually increasing engagement, and in many cases might actually decrease engagement, because all that was needed essentially is to play (instead of win) 10 games per week and that's about it. Blizz tried their hand at radically increasing the weekly requirements, got backlash and whimpered out. Now theyre taking away the extra rewards too while they brood over their next move.

  • Hearthstone Announces Huge Progression Changes to Tavern Brawl, Weekly Quest Reverts, & Rewards Track

I appreciate the communication and reevaluation of their quest changes. It's great to see them take a step back and go honestly say "that didn't work, we'll start over".  Adding to that the extra packs on the reward track and tavern brawl being an expansion pack is great.

I'm definitely one of those players who just does quests and leaves. Love the game, despite balance hiccups, and could/would play more with a different rewards structure. It just feels like the hit and run aspect is what the game promotes right now. I hope they find that balance of "if you want more stuff, then play, but you don't have to in order to keep up". It's a tricky thing for sure but communication is welcome even in the face of failures.

  • Blizzard Reveals Mid-October Balance Changes for Standard, Wild, & Battlegrounds

    Predictions:

    • Golden Kobold to transform your deck as well. A lot of people thought it already did that, me included.
    • Yogg-Saron, Unleashed to 10 mana. It's a little weird to see this get hit one set before rotation, but maybe they're doing it for the health of Wild.
    • Wondrous Wand to reduce the cost to 1 instead of 0. That's the nerf the Rogue Galakrond got, and I think it makes perfect sense. It's a little silly to get this in any deck without any conditions.
    • Puppetmaster Dorian to 5 mana. I don't see any other impactful way of nerfing this without ruining the flavour of turning things into Minis. This is actually a gigantic nerf since that lowers the number of copies Druid gets to run from 3 to 1.
    • Treasure Distributor to 1 health. I don't think they will revert the buff since that just kills the card, but it's way too powerful right now.
    • Party Fiend to 2 mana. Maybe a 2 mana 1/2 just so its not so brutal. I actually don't think this card is that broken, but Blizzard disagrees so ehh.
    • Crescendo to no longer hit the enemy face. Maybe a bold prediction, but the dual-purpose of huge board and burst finisher is really oppressive. If I wanna softball, I think a nerf to 3 so it's not free with Pop'gar is possible.
    • Tsunami to 8 mana and summoning 3 Elementals. Buffing this literal weeks before it got a massive support package was confusing. Was there no communication between teams?
    • Razzle-Dazzler reverted to 7 mana. Another completely unneeded buff to a card that was fine.
    • Injured Hauler to 2 Attack. Makes it less of a "literally just a 3/7 with a really big upside" while on board.
    • Radiant Elemental to (but not less than 1). Obviously needed to happen for design-space reasons (Lightspeed, namely).
    • Crimson Clergy has no changes, but I'm guessing this is a sign that it will not be in the next Core set. This is also fine to unban without Radiant Elemental completely breaking it.

Saruun needs cards like Steam Surger because of how elementals synergize with each other. It is still a nice addition to have +1 Fire damage on minions that would not normally have. However, being 7/6 do nothing on t6 is still a big dealbreaker in nowadays powerlevel.

  • What Are You Playing? Omega October 2024

I have been enjoying my preorders I got on my first month on my last job so I have been playing God of War Ragnarok (Wow, what an amazing game) and did it 100%,

Also got Dragon Ball Sparking Zero (It is everything I have wanted from it) and that has been my go to since I finished 100%ing God of War.

In 3 days I am visiting Argentina (my country) after 5 years so I left Echoes of Wisdom for the trip as I will be away from my pc and from the other 2 games.

Other than those 3 main games, Age of Mythology Retold is still going strong when I am in the mood and I am planning on replaying Samurai Jack Battle Through time.

And well, 1 hour of Fall Guys almost every day from Monday through Friday when my Wife is in her break from work.
