- It’s cheap to keep updated. Good cards remain good for a loong time. It values your investment. I realize I’m unable to build any decent Std deck atm without crafting a ton of niche legendaries/epics. A good way to measure if a card is worth crafting is: “might it be good in Wild down the line?”
- Variety. It has its meta cheesy decks, obviously (hateful Quest Mages...) but also allows for amazing deckbuilding and fun decks. Exodia Paladin, Spell Yogg Hunter, 1000 types of OTK Druid and so much more.
- It’s easy to climb and reach your desired monthly goals. My 1st and only Legend rank was there. Now I get my Diamond 5 smoothly in the 1st 5 days
I don't quite see how Whirling Death could be considered an anti-Teemo card. If anything, it's worse against him than most other units in the game because if Teemo attacks alone, you can't play it (unless you have an elusive unit to block, in which case you wouldn't need Whirling Death in the first place).
Blade's Edge and Death Lotus are excellent in the early game, but won't single-handedly do the job once Teemo has leveled up. Just mentioning that for completeness' sake.
Lucky me, I haven't played against this deck archetype yet. It sounds like an awful time.
Oh, you're trying to be clever by creating a wide board with medium-sized minions? Here's a Poison Seeds into another, you guessed it right! Spreading Plague
Not to mention that the deck also gains more armor than your average odd warrior, and cycles faster than a demon hunter.
It's one thing to replace a card - the different name helps make it clear that players should expect different behavior.
I'm inclined to disagree on this particular point - I pretty much never read card names during a match. The card image is the single most recognizable element to me, and the only one I need. Because they didn't change the image for Accelerated Purrsuit, I wasn't even aware it was a different card until I saw somebody pointing it out on the forums.
Maybe when odds return to normal, there will simply be fewer Deep decks and the whole thing will feel better.
I also have to disagree here. If an expedition archetype is badly balanced, its prevalence in the game mode doesn't affect its power level. The only difference is that you'll be annoyed by it less often, but the core problem persists. Getting your Deep bonus 10 cards earlier means you'll often be able to trigger it 2-3 rounds earlier than in constructed, which is quite a massive difference.
Also Veteran Investigator also seems like a bad expedition card. You never want to give your opponent extra card draw.
I've never understood the logic behind this, myself. Of course, letting your opponent draw cards is generally disadvantageous. However, if I get to draw one at the same time, it pretty much cancels out, doesn't it? Only point I could see against this is if the opponent is running some sort of combo deck, which naturally benefits more from having a bigger hand than other decks.
The problem here is, that Rogue generally wins with crazy value/tempo turns (Depending on the matchup), all relying on cited legendaries. If you miss one, you basicly have one less wincondition in your deck.
Edwin is and has allways been a staple in rogue. Long term he is the way to go. In this specific deck, he is less impactfull than the others.
Hanar is essential to the archtype and one of the main reasons you would play this deck. A nice bonus, the secret package won‘t rotate for 2 years. But the moment, something stronger than secrets comes out, Hanar is a dead card.
Kronx is half of the Galakrond-Power. Feels bad to play Galakrond without him.
Toggwaggle is THE card against everything that isn‘t DH or face hunter. The wand simply wins games. He rotates next year though (i wouldn’t factor that in
It seems that Legends of Runeterra has yet to have a win/loss or match history screen (at least for normals) and because of this, I guess I'll never know the outcome of this match. After a long start with a major brick hand, I stayed alive long enough to reach "deep" with my Naut/Maokai deck and right when I was able to deal the finishing blow my game freaked out. I mean, it's all fine and dandy since it's just a normal game, but I'm not completely sure whether my internet cut out or if the other guy decided to just rage quit. In game, there wasn't any button to continue to the next round and when the timer went off, a new timer would just appear only to repeat and do nothing. I would expect a surrender notice if they did just close the game but after 5 minutes of waiting I got a "disconnected from server" screen and it pulled me back to the main menu. It was super NOT poggers and left me salty but the real question now is closing out your game and whether or not it prevents a win for the other player.
TLDR : I do big move and they potentially rage quit preventing my victory. (or was it just my connection cutting off at the worst moment)
anyways, here is a screenshot right before I got kicked out of the game :
I want to ask for more feedback for my card. What did you vote and why? What could I have done better? And what should I do better next time?
In the interest of honesty I gave the card a three, although it could have been a four I suppose. There's nothing inherently wrong with the card, I would say, but I didn't find it particularly novel or exciting. It's alright, in just about every aspect. Alright flavor, alright balance (maybe a little strong), and alright creativity. I imagine some would find it un-fun, though, as I said originally, so that might have hurt the vote.
Thinking back I noticed I've been pretty harsh in my votes lately. Something I need to think about/fix on my end.
Honestly, a lot of people vote way, WAY too harshly in here. It came to a point where I’m hesitant to rate cards at all, because my ratings just plummet relative to the ratings I give other cards.
That being said, a pleasant surprise to be in the finals, GL to everyone!
Agreed. When I looked back on past prompts for my new card highlights, I can not believe how many great cards end up getting low scores.
I'd suggest crafting Shadowjeweler Hanar ASAP so you can play with it before it ends up getting nerfed. That card will win you so many games when it just snowballs the early game.
Nerfed? I don't think so. The card is powerful, but the deck's winrate is not so high as to deserve a nerf.
Would it be posible to add a feature that gives us the option of bookmarking decks? I'm already struggling with the 18 deck slots in game, but with all the cool ideas I stumble upon on here, I usually end up copying the deck code and sending myself an email or storing it in a notes app. I would love a button on a deck page which adds it to a bookmarks site linked with my account. So...
1) Are there other people who'd like to bookmark decks?
2) Could it be implemented technically?
Thanks for reading and the great work on this page!
Pretty much since its nerf. It is actually better in this deck since I don't have anything to give Illidan attack other than the hero power, and the Squire gains its attack without Illidan needing to attack himself, which has uses if there's a taunt you don't want to punch with your face.
I put this deck together before Battlefiend got nerfed, but it should definitely be swapped for the Squire. Alternatively you could use both, which is probably right to do.
Kronx and Edwin are strong, but not core. Ive done well without Kronx and will continue to do well without him. You should probably craft Edwin VanCleef anyway, he's nearly an auto include in all rogue decks and there's always a chance that he gets HoF every year so your investment in dust may not be all wasted.
Thanks for sharing the deck and the cool guide :-)
One question: How would you feel about swapping the Voidlords with Enhanced Dreadlords? The Lifesteal of the latter's tokens certainly comes in useful, the N'Zoth synergy is still there and you could avoid clogging your board with Voidwalkers when Bloodreaver Gul'dan's or Kanrethad Prime's battlecries hit...
I'd suggest crafting Shadowjeweler Hanar ASAP so you can play with it before it ends up getting nerfed. That card will win you so many games when it just snowballs the early game.
Any mage playing Ice Block, Reno Mage in particular has always really really gotten under my skin. Any and all of it's forms over the years. There are so many mage fans, and I just have just always had a special hatred of the class. There might be some bias because of my hatred for Jaina as well... FOR TEH HORDE!
Hanar is so vital to the archetype that it really isn’t worth playing without him. I’d save myself some dust and not craft Bamboozle at all if you have to. The whole point of Hanar is to diversify the secret pool so that your opponent doesn’t know what you’re playing, or so that you can fish for something like Counterspell to play at the right moment. (Turn 9 Highlander Priest with Mass Rez or Plague of Death nullified?) It leads to a surprising number of autoconcedes.
If you’re serious about running secrets, start with Hanar, then Togwaggle. Love Edwin to death, but he isn’t essential.
Burgle also frustrates because it neutralizes hand reads. Most cards that are burgled are frankly terrible. Especially under the old Tess archetype, where you had to be extra careful to hunt for cards that couldn’t backfire. But the struggle of playing against the decks is that you seldom know what game plan the Rogue has had to steer into.
When I play Secret Rogue in standard, it’s now almost worth Shadowstepping Shadow Jeweler Hanar early just to set up a 3-4 secret chain on turn 6 or 7, when you might already have a taunt up to protect him anyways. About half of opponents will simply autoconcede — not because it’s a death sentence, but because it’s too frustrating to navigate the volume of conditions that will trigger something. Cast a spell, attack a minion, play a minion... and then, unless he’s killed, it all happens again the next turn.
Any deck that has no win condition other than grabbing the opponent's win condition is just bad design.
But my most unreasonable dislike has to go to any current meta decks, especially the kind of decks which bm heavy kids with poor sportsmanship would favor.
Wild players: how do you still enjoy it?
I play Wild only since its inception. Reasons:
- It’s cheap to keep updated. Good cards remain good for a loong time. It values your investment. I realize I’m unable to build any decent Std deck atm without crafting a ton of niche legendaries/epics. A good way to measure if a card is worth crafting is: “might it be good in Wild down the line?”

Why is Sejuani-Teemo a Thing?

C'thun Shaman - Long Guide
There's no problem crafting this deck at all. All legendaries are playable and have play.
What is your most unreasonable dislike of a deck?
Jade druid.
Oh, you have a board of small minions? Here's a Spreading Plague.
Oh, you try to play around that by playing a few bigger minions? Naturalize and Lesser Jasper Spellstone will do the trick.

Not to mention that the deck also gains more armor than your average odd warrior, and cycles faster than a demon hunter.
Plus it folds to a single "Me hungry, you yummy!"
Gotta love it.
What is your most unreasonable dislike of a deck?
Galakrond Rogue
he has no cards in hand and then he plays toggwagle or galakrond and draw a lot of cards that costs 0
What do you mean by tournament shaman?
Anyone else think expeditions feel worse with Bilgewater?

Well, I got Kanrethad Ebonlocke from a pack and I thought it was garbage, but it seems I was wrong, I'm definitely going to test that Zoolock build!

Shadowjeweler Hanar and Heistbaron Togwaggle are probably the most important legendaries you need to play secret galakrond rogue to any successful degree.

After the finals are completed, a Competition Transparency Report will be found on the Home page of the competition.
A blue button that says "View the Competition Transparency Report" will be available underneath the image of the winning card.
Here's a couple articles on the site by Shadow about the Report. There's some good info in there.
