So I just came across a VERY unusual interactions.
I had an Unscarred Reaver on board and my opponent played Corina Veraza. However, Corina pulled only minions, dealing 0 damage....yet the Reaver still got her attack boosted as if she took damage.
Apparently these "take damage" cards will proc even if technically no actual damage was dealt, just as long as the effect that would deal damage goes through.
Probably something that should be changed in all honesty.
As you said it depends on what each player values, so I'm not preaching, but I did analyse it a little differently.
Irrespective of the pity timer, 24 packs are still fairly likely to net you 1 legendary with the usual average of 1 per 20 packs. Granted 24 isn't high enough above that to fully expect a legendary, but equally you can do better (I lucked out and got 3 for instance, and I haven't even opened the Classic packs yet because I am waiting for news on the set rotation and getting better odds of something new if there are more Hall of Fame replacement cards).
More widely, you shouldn't really open packs when "gunning for anything in particular". Unless you REALLY want a common that you cannot craft for some reason, even 20 packs of the appropriate set isn't enough to expect anything specific to turn up. In which case it doesn't make a huge difference how the packs are split across sets.
I also had it happen to me once maybe twice and I remember wondering "hey wasn't that card for locks only and why is it purple" only a lot later it occurred to me it must have been the discover.
Sure it is not funny to play against but burglar rogue has a lot more not so funny stuff I remember one time the rogue discoverd all mage cards I would like to have had in my hand (like Reno and Antonidas) and they were even active so I got completely utterly destroyed by my own cards and some generated fireballs.

Added card gallery to Card Design Competitions that have ended.
They display on the main page for that competition.
Timers no longer display after a competition is over.
A winner must be selected before the gallery will display, so don't expect it to happen right when the finalist voting concludes!
Card Design Competitions now have a voting progress bar.
This displays on both voting and "my votes" pages.
It not only displays your progression visually, but also tells you how many submissions there are in total.
Added a new bbcode for cardbacks.
We're not displaying this in the editor because it isn't something that will be commonly used. It was mainly added for staff to use in news articles and guides.

Status Update
Just putting out a small status update since I'm not certain when a monthly letter talking about the site is going to go live.
A desktop client is being worked on. Expecting to launch alongside Hearthstone collections before the next expansion in April. Details will come out when I have more to share, so please be patient =).
Considering both views, I'd say the interaction does seem inappropriate. Meisterz39's consideration of targeting is the sticking point for me.
- Overwhelm minion declares an attack, is blocked, can deal damage to Nexus
- Overwhelm minion forced to Strike another minion via spell, cannot deal damage to Nexus
- Typical spell targeting minion will fizzle if it loses target
- Noting that spell-based draining effects will also fizzle if they lose target - not directly relevant, but an argument could be made for them being analogous to Overwhelm on spells (inasmuch as they deal damage to a unit and then have a corresponding effect on Nexus health)
A minion attack will go straight through to Nexus if its blocker is removed and it has Overwhelm, certainly - but that's a minion attack, not a spell. All spells bar this one will fizzle if their target is removed prior to resolution, irrespective of their effect on Nexus health.
Given the above, I would say that there are two answers to the question:
1. Overwhelm, in the single unique case of Finales Funkeln Final Spark, has intended functionality entirely separate to every other spell in the game, resulting in a lack of general clarity/consistency
2. It's the only spell in the game which has Overwhelm, so it was easier to code it as an unsourced minion attack with Overwhelm than to build the code bespoke
Definitely good, value-wise. But to be honest I am only getting this because I am a collection-addict and want to add cards to my wild pool. Else, I wouldn't bother. Lately even modes like Brawl are becoming more "Standard friendly" in order to eliminate disparities between newer and older players (smaller vs bigger collections)
Well... I missed out on this. Had a weak draft, ended at 2:3 and now I get the "This Arena will end soon" message and cannot start a run to get the free ticket. Bummer. Did not know there was a transition close period.
Had that happen against me once, got destroyed, at that point you should just laugh it off, its a rediculous highroll, but still a highroll, it happens.
By the way, we have ~98 class legendaries in the standard, excluding Rogue ones (2 legendaries in 8 classes in 6 expansions + 2 legendaries in Galakronds Awakening). So getting the Tekahn have 3/98 = 3% chance.
It is a very bold move to put your hopes in an occurence which happens once in 33 games.
I wanted to create a corrupted version of Lorewalker Cho but couldn't come up with an alternative mechanic that involved copying spells. This one adds minions to the other players hand instead and can be used to irritate the opponent or for hand disruption. In WotoG, Warlock could combo this with Forbidden Ritual to clogg your opponents hand with useless tentacles, for example. The stats are a problem since I didn't want to go too far away from the original Cho but wasn't content with 0 attack either. The art is okayish I guess, I couldn't find a good corrupted Pandarian.
My second idea was to create something fun out of Yogg's insanity and the Thief Priest archetype. Assuming our opponent's spell are not entirely garbage and given the fact that we at the very least learn what cards they are running, this is quite powerful. That's why I tuned down the stats.
Please help me choose my card for this week and feel free to give feedback on both of them. I'm also curious where you guys get your art. I'm not really happy with what I used this week but couldn't find any better on artstation.com - do you have other recommendations?
Ive Lost my faith in you people in standard a long time ago. Here goes battle ground. Looks like you don’t have a prayer of getting a dime from me again. These 40+ year old devs are making this game just like their lives, stale and boring. They are trying so hard to get every class to be so even, they are killing the fun out of it. I’d rather run around my house with scissors than sit on my couch. A risk? Sure. Fun? Always. Oh and ya, add dragon to queen toggwaggle or scrap her forever. Thanks
Do it with several pairs of scissors, then try and juggle them

Year of Phoenix announcement - finally today?
So they announced an announcement...and ppl cared about it! Wished I were that popular for ppl to give a damn when I will announce anything.
Dragon's Hoard into Dark Pharoah Tekhan should not be allowed.
I also had it happen to me once maybe twice and I remember wondering "hey wasn't that card for locks only and why is it purple" only a lot later it occurred to me it must have been the discover.

Year of Phoenix announcement - finally today?
The announcement comes mid-march as they posted last week. So couple of weeks still.

Elusive units still a problem - Relentless Persuit is too cheap
NGL, I genuinely laughed when I saw it proposed that Relentless Pursuit should be five mana. People do so love to brick cards.

Gotta say, option #2 seems far more likely to me.

[PSA: Free Arena Ticket] Descent of Dragons 2nd rotation (March 4)
Thanks for the reminder. I would have forgotten it this time and just barely made it yesterday in the evening because of the android issues.

So we did not got anything last week. But today at 19:00 CEST (adjust it to your time zone) we should get a cardback and sixpack of cards.
Will there be an announcement? What do you think?
If they want to release the first expansion as usual, there should be! Clock is ticking!

I'm pretty sure they didn't say anything about Rat King and Lightfang, so it's not surprising they're also silent about da Queen.
