or winning as classes is pretty difficult, and grinding quests is generally only easy if you have two accounts and you fight yourself. Need to win three games as druid?
well, maybe you don't have played recently, but at the moment, you don't need to win anymore with x class, you just need to play, to get the quest done, in fact, only 2 quest remain where you need to win, "win 2 games with any class " (50 gold), and "win 5 games in any mode", (100 gold), but the last can be done vs AI. And of course you still need to win the brawl, to get your weekly classic pack, but not to do your quests in brawl
Inspired by Riot's stated philosophy that every single card should have a home, I thought it might be fun and useful to look at some of the cards we rarely see in the meta, and maybe help them find their way.
Chosen completely arbitrarily, my first pick is Emerald Awakener!
I don't believe I have seen this one at all in constructed, apart from one intrepid deckbuilder who seemed to be leaning heavily into heals. (Turns out he didn't have enough offense to actually be any kind of threat.) In Expeditions, I've never selected it, and it always seems a little sad when my opponent has to play it.
A 3-mana 2/2 with Lifesteal isn't terrible, but it's definitely not good. A 3-mana 6/6 with Lifesteal is decent, but it doesn't seem like the kind of play you want to be making in the late game -- unless you can drop it with a few other big units for a massive push.
Would you say this is meant for a Karma deck? That would explain its scarcity, as we seldom see Karma, either. Would one or both of these cards need a buff before that archetype is viable? Is there some other Ionia control deck that maintains a big hand size where this would be a good fit?
If you've experimented with this card, please describe the deck(s) you used it in and how things turned out.
A new reward system. Despite what everyone says, Daily Quests give you great rewards for your first 2-3 games each day. Now we just need a way to get SOMETHING for game 4, 5, etc. There will (and should) be diminishing returns as you play more games, but nothing like the steep drop we see after a couple games today.
Regular meta mix-ups. I love the way last month’s solo content injected a few new cards into Standard every week. It’s not realistic to keep adding new cards every week, but I hope they find a system to maintain that feel.
A new competitive mode or contest format. Tavern Brawls are great for casual players, and I don’t expect them to go anywhere, but they’re unsatisfying to the more serious players. An overhauled Arena could work, but currently Arena isn’t fun OR rewarding to most players, and Hearthstone would need to solve both problems. I’d take tournaments or a new challenge mode.
A more forgiving way to craft cards. We could experiment with a lot more decks if it weren’t so expensive to commit to each Legendary you craft. For example, let you dust a card for 90% of its value if it was crafted in the last 2 weeks, or let us create one “trial” card each week, or something similar.
A new way to play with old cards. I don’t want to play fully Wild games, but I don’t want my old cards to be worthless either. As the set of Wild cards gets larger and larger, this becomes more important.
New groundbreaking cards. This is the one I’m confident we’ll see. The past year brought plenty of interesting new ideas to the game.
Fix the Priest! I’m surprised by how many people are asking for an overhaul in the classic/basic set, and I suspect that they want Hearthstone to be something different than Blizzard plans. However, everyone agrees that Priest has a bad design space - The cards are either useless or OP, and tricks like Inner Fire don’t leave room for subtle balancing.
i know that might sound weird to many of you but since the nerfs to elusives and SI in general we got to a point where aggro decks hardly ever win a game against Ezreal/heimerdinger control decks that are using frostbite.
Right now the whole ladder that i experience consists of ezreal decks and its not likely to change anytime soon.
The fact that frostbite makes it way too easy to shut down the board while a transformed ezreal is basically a game over if you aren't out of cards -what is not likely at all- breaks the philosophy of legends of runeterra that the board matters and that creatures are the way to go to win.
What can we do to fix that problem? I think the best way is to change the frostbite mechanic.
My version would be: frostbitten units deal their damage after the enemies fighting with them ( basically give them slow attack) and lose elusive until the end of the turn instead of reducing the current attack to 0.
It might not look like a big deal but it forces frostbite decks to run more creatures and not play 20 frostbite cards + 6 winconditons and removal for the rest.
Maybe you have a different point of view but thats what i experience on high diamond right now
One way to test it would be to intentionally crash your hypothetical MMR and see if opponents get easier.
This experiment has some grave sample-size issues, but it might shed a tiny glimmer of light on the situation. And hey, you can soak up some of that sweet defeat XP along the way!
Tltr: There is no Paywall. The newest expansion (including lunar event) takes maybe 2 weeks to unlock without paying money. I am done with people who are playing F2P games and complain about additional cost for extra content
I'm in the same boat, I very much enjoy Runeterra, it's super enjoyable, but I find the pace of the games to be too slow since I have a fairly busy schedule. Likewise, the card collection method is very cool, and I liked it at first, but now I'm wanting to play new decks and simply don't have the resources to craft cards, and don't have the time to do the grind needed to get more cards.
Interesting, but I was intentionally trying to do away with the situation where he eats all of your big units while simultaneously whittling down your Nexus every time he's replayed. One or the other is more than enough inevitability, in my opinion.
Honestly, I think the Immortal Bone Drake is super awesome as it is right now. Great flavour and really neat ability. I am not sure about everyone else but I would give this card 5 stars.
Thanks for the kind words. I'll change the art tomorrow to the new one (I feel it fits Hearthstone's aesthetic better) and upload it.
It recently occurred to me that Ledros is stronger than a lot of Champions, so why not make him a Champion, subject to Champion deckbuilding restrictions?
They could significantly water him down in the pre-leveled version and give him a fairly difficult "quest."
For example:
8 mana 6/4 Fearsome,Play: Cut the enemy Nexus Health in half. Level Up: I've killed 3 units.
Leveled up: +1/+1, loses Play effect, Last Breath: Return me to hand.
This would still make a good Champion, but it's not great for aggro decks, and it's just a lot more fair to play against generally. Most important is that you do not get to keep damaging the Nexus when he starts bouncing. There is some incentive to run multiple copies because he probably doesn't survive to level up on the first try. (But note that he does not have to survive as he kills the units to increment his counter.)
I actually really like that concept, except I would tweak it a little bit. Specifically:
L1: 8 mana 8/6 with Fearsome, no "played" effect. If this unit would die, level up and return to hand instead.
L2: 8 mana 9/6 with Fearsome, Play: cut nexus in half, Last Whisper: return to hand
Honestly, I think the Immortal Bone Drake is super awesome as it is right now. Great flavour and really neat ability. I am not sure about everyone else but I would give this card 5 stars.
I really like this system, though I would really like to have a way to see all the submissions at once.
I find only being able to see one, and having to refresh the page to see another one, kind of odd. I understand the logic behind it, but maybe it would be better if you showed them all, and each time you enter that page, you see them in different order, to preserve the possibility of all of them being shown up.
1) A continuation of the "Year of the X" story format, told through expansions and Adventures/PvE game modes. Year of the Dragon worked well.
2) The addition of Dragons and potentially other tribes, like Pirates, into BGs.
3) Economic reconfiguration. When it comes to word of mouth advertising, perception is reality, and the game doesn't feel as fair or fun if you're a new, F2P player compared to someone who's already got a decent collection. Even if that wasn't the case, I feel like 10 gold every 3 wins is boring and dated, and quest rewards (with the exception of special event quests) aren't exciting. I think they'll use one of two approaches: 1) Lots of small changes (gold reward sources and amounts, the crafting economy, the content in each pack, etc.) that improve things, or 2) A new core system, such as a weekly-capped XP system that you fill by winning games and completing quests and which rewards packs in a giant chest.
4) Continued card balancing. They've shown they're more willing to do something about problematic cards, and most of their nerfs aren't as heavy-handed as in the past. Hell, 2019 even saw the first buffs in the game's history! All signs of movement in the right direction.
What I'd be surprised to see:
1) A new game mode. However, this is something I'd be the least surprised to see, because BGs came out of nowhere and a new game mode might get content creators more excited than "the game is getting better" type changes. If we do see a new game mode, I expect some kind of co-op PvP instead of the thing they've already basically cancelled: Tournament Mode.
2) Massive rebalancing, specifically of the Basic and Classic sets. Because they've adopted a more agile balance philosophy, I think they'll tweak cards as necessary instead of dealing with a bunch of cards at once. However, I think we COULD see a change in how Standard works by swapping over to a curated pool each season: only certain Evergreen cards are made available, plus the cards from 3-4 expansions selected by Blizzard. This would address the core meta/deckbuilding stagnation issue that the current Evergreen model has.
3) Hearthstone 2. Even if it's not a distinct sequel and is something along the lines of Overwatch 2 or Fortnite Chapter 2, I don't expect any massive engine or core gameplay mechanical changes that would necessitate a rebranding.

Commander Ledros ought to round down
He had a 16/16 life steal tough follower for 5 turns it was a very long game.
I had one ledros in the game but I casted harrowing which didn't get denied and got 2 copies of ledros, then I grinded him with ledroses.
Last boss in expedition btw.
