  • The Hearthstone 2020 Community Summit Leaves Frodan in Shock - Big Changes Coming for Hearthstone in 2020

It's a small thing, but I want the heroes to have specific dialogue when spells are cast.

Like how Magni will say "HEAT UP THE FORGE!" when [Hearthstone Card (Upgrage) Not Found]! is played.

or how Gul'dan will say "KARA-KAZAN!" when [Hearthstone Card (Kara Khazam!) Not Found] is played

Make past heroes purchasable. Also card backs.

Yeah yeah I know you should've earned the card backs but not everyone was playing when the game started and I want a Hogger cardback sometimes

  • Frostbite is the new problem child

Yeah, I'm with 40 here--especially if you're still running this Lucian / Darius midrange deck from your profile.  Decks of that speed are EXPECTED to lose to Frejlord control decks, man: you're just slow enough that you can't burst them before they get Ezreal/Heimer online, and too little value to win the long game.  Your opponents probably couldn't ask for a better matchup outside of Fiora decks.

If you really want to burst them, I think you're looking at SI/Noxus spiders, SI/P&Z mistwraiths, or Noxus/P&Z discard.  If you want to out-value them, I think its either Heimer/Karma, Heimer/Lux, or maybe SI/Demacia dawnspiders.  Or you can try to invent something new--and I think that's the real issue right now.  There are still so many archetypes waiting to be refined, and most players latch on to whatever they see stream and/or read off Mobalytics (full disclosure: I referenced their site just now to craft this response).  As clutch as frostbite can be, its still just a 1-turn stall and its costed fairly expensive.  There HAS to be decks that can easily out-swarm it, and there HAS to be decks that out-weather it.  The fact that answers don't readily come to mind just shows how far we have to yet to grow as a community.

    Good luck!

I didn't buy packs for almost a month and I still was behind on unlocking all of the wings for the solo adventure. Now I am very behind on dust and I recently had to go through my collection and DE 4 legendaries just to play aggro quest mage with Stargazer Luna.

Hearthstone is getting more expensive. Maybe you grind 160 gold a day, but even people like me who play for over an hour a day still have a hard time keeping up.

I have had to dust all of my priest, rogue, and paladin cards because there was no way I would ever be able to keep up with the game playing all 9 classes.

I am sorry but the game needs a new monetization system. Desperately.

Enlightened is overall a very weak keyword. There's very little value right now for building a deck around it. Even with Karma, it's still very gimmicky and tends to brick a lot against unit swarming.

Maybe if it granted +6/+6. Enlightened should be a type that gives you a crazy powerful ability late game, but forces you to choose between sacrificing units and spells before you get to that point.

Oh my god. Mana cheating is so fucking stupid at the degree they've taken it. AGREED.

  • Frostbite is the new problem child

I think one of the problems is that they're too liberal with the "Burst" title. Stun and frostbite would be a little less annoying if they were just fast.

I literally just played a mirror Ez game and we both passed our first three turns because no one wanted to play a unit, because you just start leveling up the other player's Ez and it's not like you can attack anyway, because you're just going to get hit with brittle steel or get excited

I"m also seeing all these Heimer decks are that ~75% spells. You should be getting punished way more often for running this kind of style, but there's so much control in the 1-3 mana spells that you can easily control the board without any units.

More deckslots ?! Its going to ruin the new player experience, get them all confused, if not enraged - too elusive ^^

A HS 2.0 where each class get cards that truly fits their identity.....enough with the mana cheating cards!!

Fix mage and give this class the means to fit its identity. Aggro/mid range decks...capable of huge bursts. Bring Tempo Mage back!!!

  • When Clones Attack!

I got Marin's treasure for 2 Rags, and used upgraded spellstone on them :P

    This is correct.

I'd love to see them revamp the Base Sets for Priest. Get rid of Inner Fire to experiment more with Health related Effects and give them a solid AoE or good Healing ( „What? You want useful Heals? In PRIEST? Well, BOOM! Radiance. There you go.").

I also hope they do something about the Exp-System. It just feels so outdated. HS has become so big that it should be OK for the System to reward more „free Stuff" like Gold, Dust or even whole Packs.

  • Galakrond's Awakening : Heroic Guide

For Heroic Galakrond I used a variation of rez priest deck.  Slotted in a shadowform, mindblasts, and Alexstraza.  Ended up surviving him into fatigue and kept a taunt wall breathing.  Gave him the mind blast for the final blow.

People used to just play Big Game Hunter.  So much so, in fact, that Blizzard had a serious problem on their hands because they had all these cool giant minions and no one could play them.  Then they raise the manacost by one and everybody forgot him...

  • The Hearthstone 2020 Community Summit Leaves Frodan in Shock - Big Changes Coming for Hearthstone in 2020

well this means that if they disappoint someone with this one, they put a nail in the coffin. This is a big hype. I really hope it's gonna be great because I still like the damn salt producing game.

I think it would need to be a 3/3 get +3/+3 to really be viable. It is really poor play to play it before 10 mana and if you get that far, chances are this isnt going to matter and you could have had a different card that would help you not die or win sooner.

Any combo, any reasoning you can think of, you could probably use a different card to further your goal.

  • The Hearthstone 2020 Community Summit Leaves Frodan in Shock - Big Changes Coming for Hearthstone in 2020

What are you doing to make 200g/day such that you think it only takes two weeks of playing to save up for solo content that costs 2800g total? I don't think that is a very achievable goal for most people who play the game. I feel like that's probably more like a month of playing for a lot of folks, and spending it on the adventure is 2800g they don't have banked for packs for the next expansion.

I get why you want that, but it would kinda defeat the purpose of the system.

The goal is to show you (a user) one random(ish) card each time you refresh the page. The system calculates which card has a higher priorty to be shown so all of them get a roughly equal view time across the board.

If there was an option to see all at once, you would never vote on many cards, or you would never look over all of them. Which you will not do anyway either way most likely, but that is ok, since the views are going to be spread across many users and the fairness of the cards being shown isnt in hands of each individual, but in a system that tries to balance it for everyone.

Even if the page where you would see all didnt have a set order in which cards are displayed and would shuffle every time, it would still bring an unfair advantage to the cards being displayed first/higher, which would be the same as the old system on pwn, post fast=get more views=probably more votes. This is the main thing we are trying to eliminate.

Maybe we can consider showing more than one at once (3? 5?), tho once there is going to be prompt with tokens or multiple cards, that could make things awkward.

  • When Clones Attack!

How did you pull that off

  • Weekly Card Design Competitions Return! A Guide to the New System

GLHF to everyone. This is the place to be if you enjoy creating Hearthstone cards of your own.

My first idea: some form of acknowledgement for ones that actually ended up in the game. I know we have seen several cards created by players become reality in the past. I don't doubt that some designs have inspired the devs at some point.

  • Sleeper Card Spotlight: Emerald Awakener

It's definitely an underwhelming card at first glance.

    A few prospects:

    • Rushing to enlightenment (i.e., a Karma deck)--probably Ionia / Frejlord control deck.  I think this is where Riot envisions this card.
    • Stat buffs--probably also Ionia / Frejlord thanks to Hearthguard and Omen Hawk, but you could try something like Demacia
    • Frost biting the awakener doesn't take damage yet you heal for 2--again, this is Ionia / Frejlord
    • Cloning via Parade Electrorig and Counterfeit Copies--Ionia / P & Z: this is the one strat I haven't seen anything of yet, and I think it has a lot of potential.  Unfortunately, I don't think Awakener is going to be its break-out hit--getting more 3 mana 2/2s just isn't too impressive, and if you do make it to late game even dropping a 3 mana 6/6s isn't jaw dropping unless you have cards to spend all that extra mana on.

Based on that quick analysis, I'd suspect a Ionia / Frejlord deck that tries to blend #1, #2, and #3--unfortunately, I think that starts to look more like a Karma control deck with Awakeners squeezed in than an Awakener deck that happens to include Karma.  Two HP is just so low!  This guy could really stand to gain the +1 HP that Kinkou Lifeblade lost: getting him to easily survive an early game block would give him a lot of potential millage.

  • Frostbite is the new problem child

Frostbite-heavy decks were always annoying, so it makes sense that they would be even more so after nerfs to the other strong keywords.

However, I'm finding the Yasuo archetype equally annoying, and for similar reasons -- they are both slightly too good at shutting down unit-based strategies, so they are highly polarizing. You either have what it takes to beat them, or you don't. It sometimes feels like there's no real point to playing out the game.

I think a major mistake that runs through all of these "problem children" -- including Fearsome, Elusive, Frostbite, and Stun/Recall -- is too much redundancy in the set. When players have access to too many cards with the same keyword, it's just too easy to build an extremely consistent deck that exploits it.

Not to mention, the meta starts to feel a bit same-y when every deck is a one-trick pony. It would be better if the top decks were ones that mix keywords to create some stronger synergy instead of just typing a keyword into the search bar and clicking every card that comes up.

  • How To Train Year Dragon - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Been wanting some anti-Lackey tech since Zetalot mentioned them as a reason for his departure, and I agreed with it as a problem in the current meta (rogues and wild shaman). Let me know what you think.

FYI -- Lackeys still provide a dragon/spell/whatever, the players just can't choose anymore because of the loss of Discover if that is chosen. Art chosen was "rat dragon" -- I originally thought Dirty Rat clone, but that would be more ideal to get rid of Lackey generators than Lackeys, and not all Lackey generators are minions. The only ways I could think to hurt Lackeys fairly would be to silence them in hand, force them out (both of which wouldn't be effective as they're not commonly held long, if at all), remove Discover or increase the mana cost. Went with the latter two.

The only bit I was conflicted on was poisonous; I added as a "after year of the dragon/against non-lackey decks/late game" option, but I figure it counters stuff like Inner Fire priest well early too. Also gives it a slight upside/downside if you get this as your random dragon reward from Descent's Ysera or Alex.

PS -- My other idea was a 3-mana battlecry legendary, Lackey Union Leader,  that gradually increases the mana cost of Lackey +1 after the legendary is played.

    Quote From Nirast

In life, he was raised by Crystalsmith Kangor, who taught him the concepts of infinity and endlessness.

First idea, what do you think? If anyone is still in need of assistance, let me know.

This card frightens me. Now I haven’t played HS much lately so maybe I’m out of practice with balance, but this card looks insane. 6 Mana 4/7 Taunt Reborn is good. But it also generates 2 tokens, each of which can be bounced to generate more of the original card. It’s an expensive card but it can grind a game to a halt with just a few triggers or bounces

  • Sleeper Card Spotlight: Emerald Awakener

I was watching a streamer last night pilot a Lux / Karma control deck that featured this card.  He was running plenty of healing and the other Lifesteal cards as well: Radiant Guardian and Kinkou Lifeblade.  A well timed Judgment on one of those followers can really turn the game around.
