  • Riot needs to update wording?

This is actually kind of funny - I suspect Riot saw feedback online about frustrations around how damage is rounded up despite no indication (and a slew of other card games that consistently round down), and so tried to incorporate that into their card text, and went backwards on clarity.

Clearly, the effect is "cut the enemy health in half, rounded down" or "deal damage equal to half the enemy nexus' health, rounded up." In either case, the effect remains the same as it always was, so at least that level of consistency is there. But the text should certainly reflect that more accurately.

I actually think the Overwhelm keyword is fine for a couple of reasons. First, the help text explicitly states "my blocker," and blocking only happens in combat. Second, it's very consistent with MTG's Trample keyword. Trample deals excess damage to your opponent's health, but if you use a spell to force your creature to fight another creature, it doesn't cause trample damage to hit the enemy life total. This is because when you attack, you are targeting enemy HP, so of course any excess damage continues to target that enemy HP. But when two units attack each other as a result of a spell, there's no target for the excess damage, so it goes nowhere.

  • Nunu(yetis) deck

wouldn't Darius make sense in here?

Also, I'd recommend the one Freljord spell that buffs two allies for 3 health permanently, since you want to keep your guys alive for as long as possible.

  • Nunu(yetis) deck

I played expedition mode this week and I tried a new archtype I forgot existed in the game: yetis I didn't do too well in the expedition (got 3 wins) but I got inspired to try and make a working deck for yetis, at first I tried a mono freljord deck but then I realized I should try to include another region.

I tried noxus, also removed some yeti cards which seemed too slow and ended up with 8 yeti cards in the deck in the end.. added elnuks cause elnuks are strong and also fit the theme and the draw engine of the deck (the Trifarian Assessor) with only one buff elnuks will have 5 attack.

Played 2 games.. it felt strong but it might need more tweaking to be truly competitive.. here is what I have so far:

And I am aware nunu is not yet in the game, can we safetly assume he will be added soon though? since there are already many synergies for him (nunu will definitely have the yeti tag)

I'm ready for this! I really like the main page with the countdowns.

@DoubleSummon you started explaining why the card is UP, then suggested to nerf it?

March 22-22 in post is obviously a mistake, just to point that out.

  • Battle Scars (Vlad/Braum) decks

    You should checkout MegaMogwai's list:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OivrqhJcgw0

He explains about how he has choosen the cards in the deck, the deck should be stronger now with the buff to it and the nerf to it's biggest counter.

Been trying a yeti deck (labeled "nunu deck") to no success it seems strong in theory a 3 mana 5/5 and an ocational 1 mana 5/5 but it's slow and lack tools.. maybe I should try to mix it with another region (gone mono freljord.. PROBABLY noxus for the card draw) IDK it might have potential..

Probably should’ve checked for balance BEFORE I submitted this, but thoughts?

Such card is tricky to evaluate.. how many turns do you really not attack? (it includes weapons) even in shirvallah OTK you want to attack to defend yourself.. maybe lower to draw 2 it's good enough at that.

Hey everyone, it's amazing that competitions are back and I can't wait for the big ones as well.

    Here's my idea, any thoughts?

I think this card is overloaded with effects.. should either be a legendary or a class card (suggestion: warlock)

This is a really solid way of doing this versus a going page by page for the voting process. Thank you for bringing these back.

  • Riot needs to update wording?

Yeah there is some clunky wording here and there.. and they made Commander Ledros wording even less clear.. (but it was worse before!) the problem is that they didn't explain that the effect stayed the same in the patch notes..

about overwhelm.. ye.. it's a confusing keyword by how it's written, but actually striking an enemy doesn't mean he is a blocker, I think it's specifically means the battle phase blocker when you attack on the battle phase..

But let's look at the bright side 95% of the cards are quite clear on what they do.. so they are not doing such a bad job do they?

And another question: How many entries can one person submit?

Just the once. Allowing more than one entry would open the floodgates for people to spam the competition with content, leading to a quantity vs quality situation. We want creators to put their best ideas out there, rather than just a scattershot effort.

https://hearthcards.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com/d4/ca/7c/19/d4ca7c19.png Thoughts? I wanted something representing the Wyrmrest accord.

But I'm not sure yetwhether the Sidequest fits into Druid. Yes, Alexstrasza, Queen of the Accord is most probably a druid, but spell generation isn't really a thing for druid. Mechanically, Rogue or Mage would be a better fit.

And another question: How many entries can one person submit?

  • Battle Scars (Vlad/Braum) decks

So I finally gave battle scars a go, and I've been EXTREMELY surprised how successful it is.  And my deck list is not even refined...   Maybe I've just gotten lucky; maybe the archetype is so alien to everyone that their misplaying.  Regardless, I thought I'd share.

How's everyone else doing post-patch?  Any off-meta decks you've been pleasantly surprised by?

  • Riot needs to update wording?

Because it's the damage that's rounded up and not the life total.

I agree, they also didn't properly explain this "change" in the patch notes.

    Thoughts on this one?

A cool way of doing Dragon effects. Although Wing Commander never took off because it was hard to hold a huge amount of Dragons at once, the scaling here is much more significant. I like it.

The orphan "hand" on the last line alone is a bit of an eyesore for a detail stickler like me, but the card itself seems pretty good all things considered.

This is a spin on the classic "2 mana deal 3 damage". Being limited to this turn only makes it a bit less powerful but the Twinspell gives it more value. Maybe this will make Even mage good? (Lol no)

A bit odd to support Even Mage, don't ya think?

Anyway, this card seems pretty decently balanced. I like it.

Yes, Boom Bot doesn't need to be bold, but as for the watermark... it doesn't have to be RoS.  I almost used RoS, but instead I imaginged it as being a card put into the Galakrond's Awakening after Team5 had time to see just how colossal of a failure that was Dr. Boom's Scheme.  I think it may have been the one scheme that never really found a home in at least one deck.

That's not true... Lazul's Scheme was also pretty horrible and never really played.  Maybe even played less than Boom's.

Lazul's Scheme actually did see a little bit of play. Granted, not much. I suppose you are right about the watermark. I suppose a scheme could've been in Galakrond's Awakening, although then it would make more sense to use the Galakrond's Awakening watermark.

  • Riot needs to update wording?

Hey. Please see the below highlight, I am not trying to gain publicity, I just want peoples opinion on the matter, as I think it's a recurring issue with Riots games, even LoL has bad wording, which is tolerable...  but a card game should be as clear as possible and I feel there are many lazy mistakes.

Let me know what you think, am I just being an idiot, or should Riot get there act together? Yes it is easy to just learn and memorise how cards ACTUALLY work but that should not be required.

To start off, the Golem has no connection to a Year of the Dragon mechanic, meaning it would be disqualified for sure. Your second card is also problematic because it has five lines of text: Hearthstone convention says that all cards max out at four lines of text, both for the sake of readability and because it's the maximum level of complexity Team 5 is willing to go forward with. If you cut out the damage part and just make it focused on the guessing part (and balance appropriately), it would be much better (despite not following the prompt; save it for later!).

I'm not sure how you put Golem has no connection to Year of Dragon, I'm pretty sure I tried creating cards based on Uldum and that is part of the Year of Dragons.

Right, but we're looking for cards that work with/utilize the keywords or mechanics introduced in the Year of the Dragon. Twinspell, Plagues, Reborn, Sidequests, etc. Unless I'm mistaken, the Golem is just a minion that happens to be from the Year of the Dragon.

For the Sphinx, you can take or leave our advice however you want. Just trying to help :/

Alright then, golem will be revised. I love uldum so much I tried to create sand golem, but fine. I'll refer to this thread rules.
