With new Adventure content upon us, here are the new revealed cards so far, that we are getting! Hero Cards will not be draftable in Arena, so the one legendary revealed so far is a non-factor for us in that regard, but the three other cards look very promising. What are your thoughts?
Chaos Gazer (4/5): Good stats for a 3-drop, demon synergy and a pretty great effect, forcing your opponent into an awkward turn or losing his card. It could just do nothing or corrupt a card they were going to play anyway, but you are not giving up anything in terms of tempo to potentially screw with your opponent, so that is a good deal.
Dark Prophecy (3/5): Discover is always powerful effect and getting +3 Health on a 2-drop will make it worth 3 mana investment easy. Tho there is a relatively high chance on a dud, lots of weak stat battlecry minions in the mix, depending on the arena pool.
Shotbot (5/5): Basically Shielded Minibot 2.0, instead of pinging first, you will ping second :)
Electra is very interesting indeed, I encourage experimentation, she won't do much with the spell roster in here, most of the spells don't benefit from getting cast twice, the main synergy would be with Haunting Visions either from the spell you discover or making your next spell cost 6 less, which has implications with The Storm Bringer or Rain of Toads. It also does help with Invocation of Frost. Looking at the list, the only cut I can see would be Krag'wa, the Frog though.
As for Mutate, perfectly reasonable to run in here, I'd cut Frost Shock though for that one.
A lot of the cards in here are semi flexible, but I would replace them either with a card that is similar in mana cost or does a very similar thing, which is the main thing to consider when making changes.
As someone who has done a lot of work with Monte Carlo simulations (where you generate random random numbers that individually are pretty meaningless but build up to give something statistically meaningful) I am acutely aware of the difference between casting 1 random spell and 10. But if you last 10 turns you should still see the same upside statistically, and over many games the statistics should be quite clear that it is beneficial on average.
Keep in mind the meta is filled with decks at around 55-60% win rate, so individual games are still quite close to a coin flip if you only look at whether you win or lose. Decisions on what decks to play are based on the results over many games, so by the same rationale Reno's hero power being statistically good is probably the more appropriate way to analyse it than turn by turn.
I would play more for the plague of death effect rather than hero power, but it's a control/value card that will get more and more value as long the game goes and maybe cast some miracle healing to save against aggro.
Freezing Potion costs 0. Hero Powers are supposed to be equivalent to somewhat-lacking 0-cost spells. It's on the stronger side, but it's still within the margin.
As I said in the card discussion thread itself a couple days ago - that kind of hero power was to be expected, but exactly that kind of randomness, was what I, personally, don't like in the game.
I was implying that Reno, as a legendary card, would feature more as a fun card rather than a meta defining one. Also since blizzard will be giving away a portion of the first wing for free (I think everyone gets 4 cards), Reno will likely be one of the free cards. As such, I wouldn't be surprise if the card was less powerful than others.
As for the 4 hero cards, that's still an assumption. Has it been confirmed?
So why should we care that you are an alcoholic? It's your life. Waste it however you see fit.
Lets say OP is an alcoholic for the sake of your statement. Do you really think your comment is constructive? Do you think it is a positive comment that would help someone who is struggling with an addiction? I am gunna go with no.
Just because they played a game drunk does not mean they are an alcoholic. But if they are, I wouldn't jump to insulting them.
Maybe that's the point. To make him feel bad and stop doing it. It's clearly not the first time he's done it, so this is already a (bad) habit. Reasoning with him has a low chance of success because of this (probably those who actually care about his health already told him to stop getting drunk, even if he's not an alcoholic, since that's how you become one in time).
But now you made me write this, so he's not gonna refrain from drinking anymore, probably. Good way to ruin some reverse psychology. GG.
@OP: i do hope you stop getting drunk overall, no matter what reasons you have of doing it in the first place.
Old Yogg and his Box are much more reliable than this Reno: one thing is calling upon the RNG gods while desperate, and start from a clean state AFTERWARDS.
Another thing is having that risk much lowered, but persistent THROUGH the game, giving you no certainty each turn.
Great work. I wanted to zoom in on the first turn after Reno is played, when the board will likely only have your opponent's minions. In this case, I would move 54 cards from Ehh to Hits and 14 from Ehh to Bad (mostly cards that affect minions). That results in a greater than 50% chance of a 'Hit' on that turn.

That's completely fair. I wanted to focus more on how useful the hero power would be over a long period of time instead of just the first turn as at least in standard there is no way to swap to some other hero power. Either way, the hero power is significantly better than what it first appears to be.
Knowing Riot and by the last time the game was playable they will probably open the closed beta this week.. they don't like to keep people waiting for long and love surprised.. so looking forward to both the video and start to playing soon..

Actually, Mage has tons of really good cards: it's just that since post-patch Uldum it hasn't been its meta.
Just look at one Highlander Mage list: the only big cards that it will lose with the rotation are Zilliax (pretty tragic loss, but we can say the same about every other deck), Luna's Pocket Galaxy (despite not being game-breaking like it was at 5 mana, it's still pretty good) and... I guess nothing else?
The only way I see this working is that if the spells casted by the HP count towards completing the new quest. Then you can get rid of this horrible HP ASAP...
I actually never thought about it this way. But that also means your deck must have no more than ten spells which 1 will be held on until this is played.
Well, it was a fantastic card at first glance until we see the hero power and realised that this is just more fuel for meme potential.
Still, it offers up something mage never had, a full board clear. Now we just have to figure out whether the dead minions are just discarded (aka never existed), or actually dead and therefore up for res. Judging by quote from celestalon, I'd say its the former. Its good enough to be added into highlander mage, but it will always be THAT card which literally decides who wins based on a coin toss.
Its Reno Jackson. And its the first legendary off the adventure (which I expect to be free for all). Can't say I'm surprised.
Yes, Rhys the Redeemed was originally in the Shadowmoor expansion. It can be used in the new Historic format, which is a non-rotating format unique to MTG Arena.
This card seems to be a nod to what Yogg did in competitive play, which was to (maybe) turn an unwinnable situation around. They're like: heck, you're probably hoping for a board clear and maybe a little health from your Yogg, so we're just going to straight up give that to you without making it too unfair for your opponent. As for the ongoing RNG effect? That's the spice or the price, depending on how you look at it. Also nothing that a little Frost Lich Jaina can't solve in wild, which is where this guy is headed to in a little over a year.
