These cards will be available in Constructed; they are not unique to the Adventure. This is like the Adventures of old, such as Blackrock Mountain or The League of Explorers.
I wonder if the cast works for card effects since it is your hero casting spells. If you cast a secret does it buff secret keeper for instance. Will be an interesting thing for sure.
No, because SecretKeeper specifically says "When a secret is played." which requires it to be played directly from your hand.
I haven't been keeping up with MTG Arena lately, the w/g card in the image above is in Lorewin if I'm not mistaken - Was modern added in to Arena or something?
I personally really don't like the hero power. Being able to freeze anything just seems to powerful to have access to all the time.
Hero powers are super hard to design so I try and be sympathetic, but this hero power is simply way to OP.
Yeah, I got a lot of push-back with the Hero Power during the competition. I would say my counter-argument is three-fold:
Freezing Potion costs 0. Hero Powers are supposed to be equivalent to somewhat-lacking 0-cost spells. It's on the stronger side, but it's still within the margin.
You have to dedicate 2-mana every turn for the rest of the game if you want to lock down one character. That's a ton of lost tempo, and it breaks down quickly as your opponent plays more threats.
Frostfur from the Dungeon Run adventure has the exact same Hero Power, and she is one of the easiest characters to burst down and kill.
Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done about it now :(
In grand scheme of things, i would agree with you, but at the same time, the last year they did make some big steps towards that and this looks like they want to keep going in that direction, which is good for players and obviously good for them, they want to grow their playerbase, or at least maintain it, when old players leave, new come in. They cant just do what they have been doing and keep the game sustainable that way.
Honestly the main reason for issues like this is simply keeping card text clean. Blizzard have always held a design philosophy with Hearthstone that certain things simply won't be stated in any depth in the client simply because it would lead to UI cluttering.
What's actually happening when you play something like Leeroy, rather than you summoning the whelps, is you force your opponent to summon whelps. But that would lead to multiple lines of additional game text to explain what's happening, and the cases in which that actually matters are absolutely tiny. So, they leave it unexplained because to even encounter it you're going to need a specific, niche set of legendaries - and when it happens once, you then know the interaction going forward anyway.
I support that philosophy from a game design perspective, personally. Though the card game purist in me hates it, because I'm used to physical games where the card text has to be read in fine print to understand perfectly.
I find myself in a tricky situation with this card.
I, from a personal view, hate it. It's deeply disappointing to me to see what is usually an expansion-defining card be so hard random. There's never going to be a time when I can put this in a deck happily, and it's one legendary slot that Mage won't get any value from.
On the other hand, for the long-term health of Hearthstone as a game - and a community - this is a great thing. People who play for laughs and shenanigans get an actual trump card, which is something they rarely get - and it being a hero is so much more meaningful than it simply being another legendary. It's a release which offers a nod towards the players who find alternate paths to enjoyment than simply chasing legend every season, and while I'm not one of those people, it's good that Blizzard are supporting them.
So, yeah, I'm going to be sitting ambivalent for quite a while.
I made this class for HearthPwn's Class Creation Competition #5, "Trials and Errors". I finished second-place overall, losing to Pircival's Archaeologist class. Within this theoretical scenario, Team 5 would have included Kel'Thuzad/The Lich as the tenth class of vanilla Hearthstone, implying that Curse of Naxxramas would not exist in its current form. So, with that in mind:
As a Lich, you will hold power over the forces of death and destruction, and freeze the very life from within your enemies. You will lead an undead army seemingly without limit, sweeping across this land like a plague. You will grind down the living until they succumb to the inevitable, their tired bodies given over to you to serve in death. Eventually everyone will join the Scourge!
Gameplay Summary
In the eyes of Kel'Thuzad, his victory is an inevitability: the enemy just hasn't realized this yet. The undead do not tire, do not need food, and do not feel pain; the forces of the living become weak from endless fighting, while the Scourge only grows in strength. You must show them the truth, wearing them down over the course of several turns until they run out of resources and die, tired and alone. The Lich utilizes various mechanics and gameplay elements to carry out this goal:
Freeze - Master of the cold dark, Kel'Thuzad can freeze enemies in their tracks, buying him time until they can be dealt with properly.
Deathrattles - Even in death minions have something to offer. The enemy can't let them live, but removing them creates more problems.
Resurrection effects - Recycling minions is an efficient way to garner more value out of them, especially with Deathrattles or auras.
Late-game fuel - The Scourge is infinite. Outlast the enemy until they have been sufficiently drained of resources.
If there's a complaint(?) to be had about these mechanics, it's that together they contribute to slow deck archetypes. The Hero Power can only stall for time, Deathrattles take time to activate, you can't resurrect until something has died, and you have to reach the late-game to benefit from the additional fuel. Similar to how the Hunter's earliest days were confined to Aggressive mindsets, the Lich - at least initially - focuses on Controlling, methodical gameplay. Taking his time, wearing out the opponent until lethal is within reach. You've already won; you just need to prove it.

Knights of the Frozen Throne
In Knights of the Frozen Throne , Kel'Thuzad has finally taken his rightful place as ruler of the Scourge. Without The Lich King holding him back, he can unleash his full power upon the world, bringing an eternal winter to all!
On a gameplay-level, the Lich will corrupt people's perception of what can be done with Freeze, Freezing your own minions for benefits (Moorabi? Never heard of it).

Kobolds and Catacombs
In Kobolds & Catacombs, a group of adventurers band together in the name of fame and fortune. Kel'Thuzad, however, has a different target in mind: the Dungeon itself! He has sent Deathspeaker Malicia to infiltrate the team as a double-agent, to claim the Catacombs for the Scourge.
Gameplay-wise, it's a more aggressive token archetype. The Lich has been building long-game Control archetypes since the very beginning, so the implication is that Blizzard wants to try something different. Similar to the Hunter's situation, albeit reversed.

The Witchwood
In The Witchwood, Hagatha presents a foreboding challenge to the people of Gilneas…but another threat comes from within. Haunting noises hail from the local cemetery, and rumors tell of terrifying spirits. The Worgen are under siege by an army of ghouls and ghosts!
Furthering the move towards tokens, Kel'Thuzad seeks to overwhelm Gilneas with Ghouls. He hasn't abandoned his Control-ing ways, however, as the banshees lay claim to the minds and bodies of the living.
While not explicitly supported, many of my Freeze cards are Even-costed. Combined with the two Dragons that are Freeze-related (Sapphiron from Classic, Iceborne Drake from KFT), an Even Freeze archetype emerges.

The Boomsday Project

The search for everlasting life is a messy business, and that can be seen in the cards (hopefully). Chopping pieces up, tacking on new bits; everything is chaotic in the workshop of a crazed surgeon. The gameplay should emphasize what it's like to be there: repairs, lasting through the late-game, and attaching things to other things

…look, Bwonsamdi was already taken, okay? I made do with the situation I was given, so…yeah. The Lich's loa is a panther. Panthers are stalkers of the night, so I tapped into that (and Kilnara's background) to create a set based around causing fear and suffering. Classic evil stuff.

Actually, Mage has tons of really good cards: it's just that since post-patch Uldum it hasn't been its meta.

Here's the breakdown of every spell you can get from the hero power and whether it is good, aka never detrimental, might be not good in a situation if you don't have a board for it, Meh, this being either targeted cards that can shoot yourself in the foot or cards that might have undesirable effects, such as overload, card draw, because sometimes you really want it and other times it's not good but in my opinion, it's important to have its own little area, bad cards, these being ones that essentially are impossible to use properly or would replace the hero power, assuming you want to keep it, and finally Yogg box, because Yogg box basically is just the hero power 10 times so I thought it deserved its own spot.
All together I feel that the hero power is definitely not as bad as it first appears to be as there's a lot of times when it'll either give you some minor bonus at the start of the turn, potentially kill an enemy's minion or just do something to not impact the game a ton. Obviously there's scenarios where the default mage ping will be better than this hero power but I don't think this ruins the card as much as people might initially think. Not to mention the chances it just kills you are very low, with Myra's Unstable Element and Overflow being the only two spells (around .6%) that probably lose the game for you from just drawing too much and hitting fatigue super fast.
The only way I see this working is that if the spells casted by the HP count towards completing the new quest. Then you can get rid of this horrible HP ASAP...
It definitely plays into the themes of being distracted easily and getting everything done right without even really trying, as we all know and love from Reno.
Scroll of wonder isnt your hero casting spells, yogg isnt your hero casting spells, this is the first time a hero card is casting spells. Aka a hero casting spells. 'Summon' inconsistencies [Unseal the Vault]
