  • Collectible hero powers, a simple idea to add more depth to the game?

    Staff

While i would love it, it would be impossible to balance the game properly, or maybe just Blizzard impossible :kappa:

  • The Forgotten Wilds of Hearthstone - The Valiance of the Holy Gorillas

You bring back so much good old memories, such as crafting a pair of Enhance-o Mechano on GvG release day

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

I am trying it out right now :) At rank 10 atm, with 2 out of 2 against a tempo rogue and a zoo lock. So it seems to be pretty strong against aggro.

At first I thought it should have a bit more draw, but until now it worked out ok :)

My best moment is always when i draw Zephrys the Great, hands down.

  • Balanced Alternate Hero Power Card Idea

    Quote From CursedParrot

How would reducing the stats make it more of a coin flip? It always starts in your opening hand, so there is absolutely no randomness in its effect. If the card itself were weaker then maybe the cost you have to pay to get the alternate Hero Power (having a dead starting card in your opening turn until turn 3) might not be worth the effect.

It’d end up being you just lose the game from having that dead turn, or the hero power manages to win you that game as it goes on

Metaltooth Leaper was one of those cards back in GvG I tried to get to work. It wasn't enough back then. However with all the bomb summoning cards that was the first deck I made in Boom's Day. The monkey bot was a favorite card in League of Explorers so he was an auto include. All the bombs with the leaper make them so deadly. Getting opponents to blow themselves up is priceless! The Gorillabot A-3 makes even more leapers so the fun never stops!

Actually back in GvG when hunter didn't work I took mechs into my favorite class, Warlock. Fel Cannon is a monster of a card. Again wasn't popular back then but I've used to to great success. I was also lucky enough to open a Mimiron's Head as a finisher back then. For those who don't know that card it destroys All your mechs (only needs 2 others as the Head itself is one) and summons, in glorious fashion, V-07-TR-0N! So good with Power Overwhelming or the spare part that flips it's power and health (Reversing Switch). I still  have and run this deck in Wild. Such a good time. I even check the mechs in each set and fiddle with the deck construction all the time.

  • do you guys sometimes play a worse version of a deck, just to fit the theme?

I absolutely love that. Other than this Spider Queen deck I have featured, which you can check on my profile, I also used to have this 'Spider King' druid deck with Malfurion the Pestilent, Crypt Lord, Hadronox, Fatespinner, Gnash, Tomb Spider that was so terrible compared to the Spider Queen counterpart. I kept that deck for awhile, but I decided to dust it for a golden Whizbang.

At the beginning of Rastakhan's Rumble, I also made a Horde Tiger Paladin deck with no clear win condition except for buffing Immortal Prelate, and play Lynessa Sunsorrow.

Murloc decks are fun, but I'm never good at playing one of those.

I absolutely enjoy Mage's Yogg-saron deck with the new Yogg's boxes, and any C'thun deck. I can play these for hours.

I guess with low stats it would then be awful against aggro and good against control, but you can say that about any number of cards (such as Justicar Trueheart) that were never an issue

Thank you for writing this up. I especially like the game lore/history that you put. When things were good, why and how they were used. I find that very interesting. I was around for most of it, but still gives a lot of "Oh, yeah...." moments.

Looking forward to the next one.

My favourite moment when I got the free legendary from the set for the first login after the relase.

  • Balanced Alternate Hero Power Card Idea

Part of the problem with doing different hero powers consistently in a deck is that the classes are all balanced around the starting hero powers. Different hero powers could fill in a weakness in a way that makes the deck too consistent (changing the stats or cost of the card would just make it more of a coin flip)

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Not really that salty, just disappointed.  I don't mind losing to tier 1 decks in casual, play what you want but do you really have to emote multiple times when you win with a tier one deck against a tier 4 deck.  I'm not even thin skinned against "BM", a little is fine it's just a game its just a little lame.

  • Balanced Alternate Hero Power Card Idea

Alternatively, its cost could be nerfed to even higher so that its effect comes in later.

  • Balanced Alternate Hero Power Card Idea

Hi y'all, here's this idea I had for how alternate Hero Powers could be introduced without making them broken like Genn and Baku were:

The alternate Hero Powers would be along the same power level as the basic Hero Powers, but they would allow for different synergies, like the Hero Powers in the Dalaran Heist. I think this version of the effect is the most balanced, since like quests it takes up a card in your opening hand, and it can only start effecting the game starting on turn 4, which makes it not feel as consistent as Genn and Baku. Also, if it ended up being too good, its stats could easily be reduced to a 3/2 or even a 1/1, making alternate Hero Power decks have an awful early game. What do y'all think? Would this be a healthy way to introduce alternate Hero Powers or would it also end up being too powerful?

My favorite moment of Uldum was playng quest paladin, it was such an understimated card, but in the right deck can be so powerful and fun!

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Does this game feel unbelievably stale to anyone else? I've played like an average of 1 game a day for the past two weeks, and then I just quit because I don't even enjoy the game. This is an all time low for me. The game just isn't fun.

Want to play standard? Murloc pally after murloc pally. And they're all good enough to draw lens on 4. Wow that was fun. I think 7 of my last 10 matches were that. Cool.

Wild? Secret mage after secret mage. Btw nice aluneth on 6 guys.

I might have to take my first long break from Hearthstone ever. The game just isn't fun for me. No new decks, no one is playing anything relatively interesting to play against, and the game feels like a chore to play. Anyone else feel the same way, or am I in the minority?

  • Collectible hero powers, a simple idea to add more depth to the game?

What do you think about having it tied to a legendary, like Genn and Baku were? Alternatively, it could be something like a 3 Mana 3/3 that starts in your opening hand (like quests) and changes your Hero power to the alternate one when played. That way it is balanced by reducing the number of cards in your opening hand, not activating until turn three, and requiring you to play an understatted 3 drop. This would actually be really easy to balanced, since if it were too good it could easily be balanced to a 3/2 or even 1/1. Of course, the Hero Powers would have to be of equivalent power to the existing ones.

I only play meme decks when I am not trying to ladder.
