My favorite moment was watching Saviors of Uldum trailer for the first time. It's so epic. In my opinion it's the best trailer. Rastakhan's Rumble is my second favorite.

  • Balanced Alternate Hero Power Card Idea

    Quote From CursedParrot

I'm glad some of you guys see the benefits of this kind of approach to a Hero Power changing card! I think this version of the effect is quite interesting, since you have to make a choice of when to play it, so your opponent can apply pressure on you that forces you to wait until later to play the Legendary. Also, the alternate Hero Powers would be the same powerlevel as the original ones, so this card would not give you more lategame power, it would just allow you to build a deck with different synergies. For example, a more control-style Hunter Hero Power could let them make a viable control deck instead of being held back by their Hero Power.

Yeah there would not be another way to have hunter go the control route with just one card.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

I currently play a deck that beats the meta decks regulary. Shure you can´t win them all.... Choose a class you realy like to play then search for the deck.

I always liked shaman and am a battlecry fan so i ended up with a jade shaman. But i also have even shaman, secret paladin, even mage, mill druid and battlecry paladin that are all aproved to be strong, fun to play and off meta.  My fastest climb to R4 was with the secret paladin before the last edition with new quests.

Secret mage is cheap to build and very powerful but counterable. I avoid decks that are common.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Someone call me when RnGsus decides I deserve some good draws for a change.

Fucking so sick of this bullshit just getting steamrolled because my own deck refuses to give me anything remotely helpful for the first 6 turns.

  • Arena Balance Update - Hunter and Rogue Winrates Decreased

Have the arena rewards changed? I got rare and epic cards from every arena lately.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

I'm seriously proud of my Even Face Hunter, after many lost games, i managed to refine the deck, and hone my skills with it.

Rank4, 4stars now, and i could defeat Odd Rogues, Odd Paladins, Mech Paladins, Even Shamans, Big Priests, Mech Hunters, Warlocks, and even Secret Mages!

Surely the deck is far from invulnerable, even against the same decks i defeated, and it can suffer against Reno on t-6, but it doesn't feel like an off-meta deck anymore, while being absolutely original.

I wish i had a pro player to test it on my behalf, and see if it could become popular.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

    Secret mage

    Odd rogue

    Odd paladin

    Even shaman

Seeing how you're new to wild, these should be the easiest to climb with at lower ranks.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

Reno tempomage and Reno tempolock are the strongest on the highest ranks rn, secret mage on lower ranks

When a Reno Mage burns so many key cards :)

Edit: I noticed the replay doesn't show what cards he burned with Doom Pact. He burned Potion of Polymorph, Vulpera Scoundrel, Reno Jackson, Skulking Geist, Sylvanas Windrunner and Luna's Pocket Galaxy

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

    Exactly!

Secret mage is shaping the wild meta.

But, as stated above, this makes people search for ways to counter it and, in some ways, this is good since we can breath some fresh air instead of the old odd paladin/big priest meta. (Though I fear this one will regain its popularity if Reno decks start increasing in numbers).

IMO, the best decks to counter secret mages are indeed reno decks, since they can heal and stall the game frequently.

Also, as RavenSunHS stated, running secret techs in all sort of decks may ruin your gameplan (especially if you are playing an aggro deck) and sometimes, they just doesn't work properly...

The question that should be asked I think is if these alternate hero powers would only favor control and midrange playstyles. Yes there was the big fear over aggro getting alternate hero powers due to Genn/Baku, but these new hero powers would only benefit one or two playstyles then I feel that it would warp the 'holy trinity' of aggro/midrange/control too much towards the slower decks.

I believe they should be class specific as well. That way it can be controlled a bit more.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

As far as I could understand, the meta is basically split between Secret Mage preying on the old meta, and Reno decks countering that.

It's not as polarised as it seems tho, as many (new) decks are developing in the middle.

Indeed, Secret Mages are setting a new "Wild standard", where you need reliable soak power (healing, armor) and/or reliable burn power (faster than theirs).

Secret Techs such as Eater of Secrets or Flare do help, but are not game-winners on their own. And I expect the tech necessity to fade in time, with decks refining in the new meta, and countering Secret Mages more efficiently, reducing their numbers. Maybe SI:7 Infiltrator will stay to remove Ice Block, because the body is not bad anyway.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

You are  right. This deck is dominating the meta atm.

Also Reno decks made a comeback as well.

  • Thanks :)

The power of Genn/Baku is that the HP is available from turn-1, where the upgrade is very strong, and can apply early pressure.

Indeed, look at Justicar Trueheart: even if she started in your hand, she'd be acceptable at best, even if your deck was built around her. Because of her cost.

All in all, the OP's idea is kept in check by the mana cost of the activator. As long as that is properly balanced (and the alternate HP are not broken themselves) the concept will never be broken.

That's why Genn and Baku had a deckbuilding restriction, while Justicar does not. And I guess there are still some niche players, who use Justicar over Baku, at least one DaneHS.

In addition to that not even every class plays Genn and Baku, because its not worth it for the deckbuilding restriction and no real benefit from the hp. So I say that's why Genn and Baku are balanced.

While this suggestion is way cheaper, so it can be played earlier, so it shouldn't too good (weaker than quests) and has a on curve body, not like Justicar, who is terribly stated.

Yeah sure, but we are talking of mana cost and stats: these things can easily be balanced out with proper testing.

The overall mechanic is not potentially game-breaking.

Oh and yes, i absolutely agree Genn and Baku are balanced, because of their restriction (which people fail to realize, and tend complain of repetitiveness of gameplay, as if it was an objective argument).

But in this case, you don't need any, stats could always be nerfed if necessary, and the mechanic would stay viable nonetheless.

  • What are the strongest decks in wild?

I recently got into wild but i would like to know what the strongest decks are in wild. I heard it might be secret/tempo mage but i could be wrong

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

Just had such a close wild match, i was playing  Renolock against a mech hunter.

Turn 5: I had 1hp left, managed to coin into Reno, managed to barely hold on with like 5 hp remaining at turn 10. Played Bloodreaver and just barely won the game, it was so close, despite him keeping me below 10 hp for such a long time, and of course topdecking perfect cards. That was such a good/close game.

This definitely needs an upvote. Such good job on guide and explanation. Thanks for sharing it. I like the idea. Just need Finley and Wickerflame.

I'm trying to go control pally, just sad that it does not do super well against big priests. Just need to try and see/adapt.
