Great art but meh effect. Most dragons have a battlecry with not that great bodies, so you need super specific cards like Hungry Drake or Ysera. Beyond that...10 mana do nothing this turn. Any poly effect and you're screwed.

  • Acidmaw

If this was a 2/4 the combo with Dreadscale would have worked way better. As it is it remains at 1 hp, very weak.

  • SoU - Golden Legendary Crafting

I only tend to craft Neutral Golden Legendary cards as they always tend to get the most use in my opinion. I especially Golden cards that help generate more cards (that are also golden) - My day one golden crafts will be Zephrys the Great and Siamat

I opened my preorder packs and ended up with a regular Zephrys, which would've been something else had I waited and crafted those two prior to opening. So in hindsight, I would say hold off on opening if you have a specific card you know you want to craft golden and craft it.

  • Custom Card competitions Big and Small

Hi guys, first of all the site is amazing, it's really coming together nicely.

One of Herthpwn's biggest and most popular things was the custom card competitions, the small weekly ones and the bi-anual big ones. I know you need to get the infrastructure done first but when can we expect these to happen here too?

  • No Board Clear for mage

O cmon, Paladin? I count 4 guaranteed board clears with Shrink Ray and Equality. And they are supposed to be bad at AOE according to Blizzard's comments on class identities. I mean 4 is a lot more than 0 for a class that should suck at AOE.

Flame Ward only kills stuff <3 health, so no guaranteed board clear. But maybe with some spell power you can turn it into a more reliable board clear, so this one has potential. I am not talking about general AOE, I am talking about "heey, my opponent has this huge board and I need to get rid of all of them right now, otherwise I am dead".

We used to have Dragon's Fury which was a pretty reliable board clear at turn 5. But that one has rotated.

  • No Board Clear for mage

The new mage secret (Flame Ward) technically is a board clear, with conditional activator.

  • Plot twist just for fun

    Hi

Phaoris plot twist. I expect it as meme deck but might actually be fun. What i do fear is that it´s overrunn before starting to play. I thought maybe fit one Void Contract .

Actually, I'm not very sure about the value of Plague of Murlocs against Big Priest.

If you want to get max value from it, you should play it while your opponent has full board, but in this case, he has probably ressed some minions already, meaning that this is just a minor setback for him.

And as much as Poison Seeds, everything could still be useless if you give your opponent the chance to Psychic Scream you.

Tell that to a Paladin, who has to rely on his weird Piro combos and a really old boardclear.

Enter the Coliseum, right? I can't believe there were no good AOE card printed for Paladin since then.

    Quote From Zwane

I know mage excels in AOE, but sometimes you need a real board clear. Now the question is, why does mage has no board clear while other classes do. I can create some 2/3 card combo which should clear the board, say a 6 damage to all minions. But his does not clear a board of mountain giants for instance, or one 24/24 mech.

Mage with board clear was a thing on the release of game, every mage was enjoying using flamestrike, blizzard and such. Then there are classes that didn't have powerful aoe back in the days, like defile, or mass hysteria. Right now, her board clear sucks, but she has decent other options to have.

She is very good at bursting opponent's health, not to mention she can stale the game with freezing minions.

If we wanna talk about current mage now, she has very good spell generators, and no other classes have that, so it definitely helps mage alot.

  • No Board Clear for mage

Mage can easily stall for several turns with freeze effects and win with or without clearing the board. So there is not a real need for this one card to clear a complete board (not to mention to include it into a current deck would be questionable).

Mage can very well deal with one big minion. Just permafreeze oder polymorph plus ping solves your huge minion problem.

But yeah, maybe there will be a full and unconditional boar clear in one of the expansions to come. But right now mage is in a very good spot.

  • Reminder: Free Arena Ticket - SoU Arena Rotation (August 6)

    Staff

Tomorrow is a launch day for Saviors of Uldum, which means another arena rotation will happen. Leave your arena run unfinished at maximum of two losses to get the rewards for current number of wins plus a Free Arena Ticket as a compensation for your retired run.

Dont leave this for last second tho, ideally start your run several hours before the launch (August 6, 1pm ET, 7pm CEST), since prior to launch, arena entries are disabled.

Play out your run to x-2, if you want more rewards from your run, or just leave it at 0-0 if you dont want to spend time playing it out.

Now, due to a mess up on August 1, where arena rotation kinda happened, only SoU wasnt included yet and some ppl got their runs retired (and got the ticket - i did) and some ppl didnt, it is a bit unclear, if we would get a ticket again. But as always, Blizzard cant really afford to retire runs and give no compensation, so i believe you are safe to do this "trick" regardless.

New arena rotation will include following sets:

    • Basic
    • Classic
    • League of Explorers
    • Journey to Un'Goro
    • Kobolds & Catacombs
    • Rastakhan's Rumble
    • Saviors of Uldum

Friendly Neighborhood Gladiator: if you plan on leaving the arena at 0-0, might as well play two games and concede to two players getting some positive karma :) You will get the same rewards for 0-0 and 0-2.

    Quote From DoubleSummon

From what I seen quest paladin is worse than the old quest paladin.. It's just too fair compared to other decks. And the reborn minion are mostly just OK or passable...

I mean, they're completely different in what they're seeking to do. The only thing they have in common is that they're both quests.

    You freeze them repeatedly.

  • SoU - Golden Legendary Crafting

I tend to go for golden shaman collection so I'll craft Corrupt and vesssina. Corrupt could be good craft anyway as the quest seems strong enough to maybe get nerfed.

  • Starting an Arena and letting it expire after 2 losses

    Quote From Bersak

Is there any possible strategy to maximise the profit? Is a 2-2 run better to be saved for the reset then a 7-2 for example? Both have Pros and cons...

Probably not worth the thought but how do you approach it?

I tried to mathematicly solve this but it‘s more complexe then i thought. Guessed winrate, average profit per win and stuff

Honestly there's no real point to forcing yourself to 'hold' to a spot.  If you want to keep playing when you are at 2 losses that's fine.  If you lose, just start another run.

The only serious requirement is this: to have an active arena run when the reset happens.  I've literally had times when the only literal thing I had literal time for is to open the program, start a run, pick random cards, then close the program.  It was literally 0-0.  Literally.  Note that this isn't an issue since I start a new set spamming arena anyway.

Basically, unless you litera(ok I'll stop) never play arena, it's a benefit to have SOMETHING up.

Even if you go 0-0, let it reset, then run the free ticket and retire at 0-0, and get the worst reward at each time, you get 2 packs, and 2 common cards.  10 dust and 200 gold worth of packs for 150 gold. You're 50 gold and 10 dust ahead without playing a single game.

If you really REALLY want to min max it, I can see ONE way to lose out: every arena run that ends in 3 losses is just that, a normal arena run. And any time you get less than 50 gold/dust you technically lose out.  That happens at 2/3 or less and sometimes happens at 3/3 (4 wins guarantees at least 50 gold).  So playing at 1/2, 2/2, or 3/2 risks you getting a third loss and losing out.  Again, a reset arena run, even at 0/0 is always an advantage.

So if you really REALLY want to min-max things I would go with this:

Start an arena run. Play it to 2 losses.  If you are 4 wins or more at that point, play the whole thing out, then start a new run.

If you are 3 wins or less when you hit 2 losses, STOP and let that one sit for a reset.

And, of course, if you run out of time, just stop where you are.  No point forcing 2 losses just to 'be at 2 losses'.  If you don't have a run going, you can leave it at 0/0 before you close.

Then after reset, play as normal.

But really this is nitpicking.  So honestly if you want my advice, I'll TL;DR it for you:

    TL:DR Summary

    1. JUST #()$#)( play.

    2.  There IS a min-maxed exact way to maximize this thing, but I'm playing the Snob card here:  If you aren't interested in reading more than this summary then sacrificing some enjoyment of the game to make sure you don't accidentally lose 20 gold isn't that important.  So again.

Play Arena like you normally do, a lot, nothing at all, I don't care.

Do NOT close the game without an Arena run open, even if it's 0/0 with random cards picked.

Reset happens.  play the run.  Even if you go 0/3 you won.  Enjoy.
